    Hello All,

    With rumors of the siege plugin being functional soon, I wanted to propose an idea that would increase the raidability of bases, while also reducing the destruction of bases. No one wants the build they just spent 10,20,100+ hours on looking like swiss cheese.

    I would suggest allowing a system that permits explosions to destroy hard blocks during the 20 minute siege. After the siege is won or lost, for the next minute (or 5 minutes, could be decided later) all blocks would be replaced. No blocks would drop from the explosion. Chest blocks would not be destructible to prevent mass amounts of items being dropped, but the blocks locking the chest would be. Explosions would be weaker than their normal amounts to prevent people from immediately busting into a base, but still appropriate for the ammunition type used by a cannon. Placing the blocks over time would greatly reduce the resource use on the server making its effect negligible as only a few blocks are being placed every second.

    The same protection time on that person would apply after the raid, so they don’t have to constantly deal with sieges, but it would allow raids to finally be more exciting again. People could blow holes into large forts to pillage them. And after the raid is done, the base would regen block by block so it appeared nothing ever happened. The only losses would be from items taken from chest, and if the player died. I would even suggest this for soft blocks. So greifing wouldn’t occur during a siege.

    Ships would become incredibly useful, as they could now sail into a port town or ocean box, and be used to lay siege to the enemy. Its cannons would fire and strip layers off of the walls, as the defenders fire their cannons back. Gates would fall as the  ship roles in to port, warehouses would be laid open and pillaged. The crew stealing what they can, and sailing away just as quickly as they came. Ships could be stolen, their lock blocks blown clean off in the canon fire to be sailed by enemy crews. All that would be left of them would be the blocks destroyed by the cannon fire which would reappear after the block regen had finished, a stark reminder of the horrors witnessed that day.

    Treasures, long burred underground would become the next big heist. The assailants would sneak in, setup cannons and supplies underground outside the claim. After the siege begins, so does the drilling. With each explosion, a base never before raided will soon fall if the attackers  can blow their way in during the siege time. If they fail, the defender looses nothing while the attacker look at their empty powder chest.

     

     

    Some ideas of implementations would be a simple queue or stack containing the block data as it is destroyed. I prefer a stack, as when a block is destroyed, the data is added to the top of the stack.

    When its time to regen, the first blocks to be regenerated would be the ones at the top of the stack so the base would appear as if it was healing from the inside out, with the first bit of damage being the last to heal. It would be a fairly simple action, simply reading the item off the stack, placing it back in the world, then scheduling it to occur again in x number of ticks.

     

    If there is a server stop mid heal or attack, you would implement a function to store the stack to file. Then upon a reload, it would check if any files exist and begin processing them. While the raid is going on, (I am not fully sure on this parts implementation without trying it myself) have an asynchronous write to file for the stack. So that it wouldn’t effect the server much as new blocks are being destroyed and added to the current stack. There would be no wait for the file to finish writing on the main thread. That way in the event of a crash, only a few number of blocks, if that, would be lost. And once the  server is back up it could process the file and replace the destroyed blocks. You would also store which claim the file is pertaining to, not that it would really matter as the block data would have the coordinates included with it. I haven’t looked at how block data has changed though in multiple updates so my information may be outdated.

     

    There are other potential ideas I have to expand on this playstyle of raiding, but I would like to hear peoples thoughts on the base idea first. Thank you very much and have a good day.

    In all seriousness, here’s a round up of the past 3 months:

    • Helper rank introduced as a temporary rank which allows the user to jail, mute, and kick I think. Admins can freely set anyone to this rank and demote as they please. Current helpers are LEGO, Nahadoth, Bazurka, and Palmerageddon.
    • Emielreijs and PythonAce promoted to Moderator
    • TAS and CLTN had land drama – it quickly escalated and involved staff
    • A shrek cult was formed by JUSAplayer1- basically a bunch of people with shrek names shreking people
    • The_Network, JavaInvader, and Kellyyore removed from staff positions, Creepermorderen promoted to developer
    • We discovered that Kettoh, Jmoo, and Riverwood202 had been spawning in money for the past 10 months, they were banned along with The_Network. CLTN – TAS drama largely stopped at that point. Their belongings were confiscated.
    • Introduction of the ‘Locker’ as a punishment – you are teleported to a separate world made of sand and must dig 3 double chests of sand (I think) with no tools. You are unable to talk, tp out, or skip the punishment.
    • Halloween crate was added and keys drop randomly to people every 30 minutes. Top prize is a highly sought after sharpness 11 hoe.
    • Shockerboy died
    • A small bit of drama ongoing right now between several crews

    Results!

    First battle in the new arena (now named Battle Bay) – and it worked almost perfectly… aside from that server crash at the end… oh well. The battle was split up into two lots of 20 minutes of fighting, with 10 minute breaks after each one. This was followed by a roughly 15 minute ‘sudden-death’ at the end (the server crashed during this period, so it went a bit messy with some ships having chunks missing). Surprisingly high turnout last night, counted 61 players online and at least 32 people on my /near – probably more. We had 5 ships and a submarine taking part. Thanks to Nahadoth and Moossolini for helping me moderate, and creeprr for recording the battle.

    • Most player kills – Drifting’s ship, killing at least 20 players before sudden death, and 2 during sudden-death
    • Most spectator kills *sigh* – Da Vinchi, killing at least 8 spectators who got in the way of their cannons

     

    Damage Report:

    • Phantom Narwhal – Received moderate damage throughout the battle, was duplicated due to restart with both copies having significant parts of the ships missing. Plans are made to repair it.
    • Da Vinchi – Received moderate damage in the back at the start of the battle, light damage for the remaining battle. A chunk of the ship was missing after the restart. Is being repaired for next battle.
    • CLTN Menace – Received light damage for most of the battle, followed by heavy damage in sudden-death. Is being repaired for next battle.
    • Drifting’s ship – Received moderate damage throughout the battle, heavy damage in sudden-death. Is being repaired for next battle.
    • BLURP_’s ship – Received heavy damage in first half (due to lack of armour), moderate damage in second half. Being rebuilt i think.
    • lakeside’s ship – Received moderate damage in first half, and very heavy damage at beginning of second half. Blown up and broken up.

    Happening in 2 weeks time on a saturday evening at 8:00pm GMT (3pm EST). 2nd or 3rd of September i think.

    • Double cannons will not be allowed (sorry)
    • Ships only for that battle – testing designs, I’ll follow it up with a normal battle afterwards
    • I should be able to spawn in ships for people by then, arena should be claimed, and server ship shop at the warp

    Points:

    Gonna be using a points system for people who finished in top 3; 3rd gets 10 points, 2nd gets 20, 1st gets 30.

    These points will be handed out to the ships, not the crews. So if you want your ship to get lots of points, be sure to use it again or modify it. The points will be in the group description, and previous battles results will not be included.

    Bug Reporting!

     

    Hello Fellow Pirates! My name is Nahadoth, and I want to know some of the bugs and glitches you have ran into on the server. Its been a while since I made any videos of glitches or bugs occurring on the server. The reason this is useful is developers tend to believe their plugins are perfect and without proper documentation of the issue, Godsdead does not have any way to help the developers fix the issue. So please leave below a description of the bug and how to duplicate it, as well as how often it occurs. I already know about getting caught in water, or issues with knock back under water. I made a previous post about this that was submitted, and I will make an updated video soon. Any bugs that you would like to be fixed, instead of informing gods about them, please provide them below. It can be very taxing on Gods to constantly hear “this thing doesn’t work fix it” without any documentation.

    Its been 1 year and 6 months since the wonderful PaulOnFire made his own list back in January of 2017. Old list can be found -> here <-
    This list serves as a reference point, and comparison to the PMC of 1 year 6 months ago. I’ve tried to include as many crews as I can (I’m not doing all 243).

    Some key points before I start (very similar to Paul’s original post):

    1. This is based off data from the 16th July 2018. It is entirely possible that people have changed crews, come back from inactivity, or founded new crews in the meantime.
    2. The crews are ranked according to number of active players
    3. ‘Active players’ count as any players that were active in the last 30 days
    4. Some crew descriptions from the last list have been carried forward, as long as they are still relevant and/or the exact same crew
    5. I have tried to avoid 1 or 2 man crews, such as my own, and will only be including a few that are of mention
    6. The crew names are spelt as they are in-game, including typos and spacing issues. I might have types some of the player names wrong, but please don’t rip my head off because of that.
    7. There are a LOT of crews I don’t know anything about. Feel free to post more information below!

    • Terminology (these are my definitions, not official ones):
      • ‘Empire/Kingdom’ – A generally peaceful crew with anti-pirate intentions; featuring a distinctive government or leadership system, split into mostly the ruling class, generals and officials, and common folk
      • ‘Empire – esque’ – A generally peaceful crew with characteristics of empire crews, but who give more control to the non-leaders, or have a completely separate system. These are usually considered pretty chill crews.
      • ‘Collective crew’ – A crew with mixed intentions, whereby almost every member has an input in running the crew. There isn’t much in the form of hierarchy – mostly group decisions.
      • ‘Pirate crew’ – A crew with either anti-empire crew intentions, stealing and pillaging, or working as hired mercenaries. They are usually the smallest crews, but are seen as the greatest threat to peace for empire crews. There are some exceptions.
      • ‘Mafia crew’ – An organized international body of criminals that work together to achieve common goals.
      • If it just says ‘crew’ then the crew either doesn’t fit any of those descriptions above, or I just don’t know. I don’t want endless terms used; that can wait for another post :I

    Hello Its Nahadoth,

    I saw that there was apparently some issues with what Hydra has and hasn’t done. Below I have included several screenshots from 3/26/2018. We discussed in it, the fact that Hydra stalks online players and tries to find out where they live and any personal information they can. This has already been proven, and confirmed by Great_Man_7 a member of Hydra which you will see in the chat. For staff, Smokeyriver already knows that they were stalking players, and gave them a last warning that anything else would be a perm ban for all of them. The issue with Hydra stalking mystic’s Mom Facebook, and seeing that his dog has died is true. This was also discussed in the conversation bellow and confirmed when Great_Man_7 said yes they may have gone too far. What they did was, they named a dog after Mystic’s recently passed dog, in game, and killed it in front of mystic. Its head dropped so they put it on and ran around while laughing at him and making crude jokes. The_Network can confirm this, he was present at the time in game while he was still a moderator. Mystic figured because The_Network was not doing anything against hydra for it, it was okay so he didnt press charges at the time.     Hello guys, its Nahadoth, just making this quick. If there is any way for you Godsdead to remove /claimexplosions from anyone but the owner of a claim or someone with permission trust it would greatly increase the crew aspect. Right now we cant have new people join crews because if you try to make a crew base, giving anyone access trust or trust, they can turn claim explosions on. This makes it difficult to share a base or make crew bases because too many people are able to turn on claim explosions and let anyone use a cannon outside the claim to destroy the whole build. If only the owner or people with permission trust can turn on claim explosions, then a lot more players would be able to take part in building, or crew bases.

     

    If you cant remove permissions specifically depending on trust level, it might be worth it to take a pole and see if it might be worth removing access to the command all together.

    Suggestion: Make Custom heads like cannon balls more available.

     

    Now that you have a plugin which lets you set chest to have an item in it for each player, and even reset over time, some new opportunities are available. Could you make somewhere at cove the cannonball custom head and others that you want, available. They would be in a chest that resets quickly so people can decorate their builds with pirate themed objects. If you want to make it cost money set up a device sign that controls a piston that locks the chest. Set the reset time for the head to reaper to the time it takes the sign to reset. 5 dollars a head i think would be good. Would love to set up cannonball heads and food stands and such for my bases. Looking forward to your thoughts on this Gods.

    Hello, my ign is Nahadoth. Many of you may not know me, I’m a player that doesn’t really like to attack people or siege. I try to be a lot like lazydog and just be nice to anyone unless they prove I shouldn’t be towards them. I’ve actually been around longer than smokey. So I’ve seen what the BE used to be like in the old days. I was not involved directly with the event with moo so I won’t comment on that.

    To most BE members: Please read the post by some of your members displayings BE colonization plans before making your own personal post about what you believe. Just because you have your own beliefs on what they are, does not mean that is the official plan posted by Gildor.
    I don’t actively attack people, but I do actively record gameplay and report issues and bugs. Along those lines, I was sadly forced to report CrazyPirate and other BE members for harassment. They killed a player named Panda_Bear if I recall 23 times. 16 of those kills were directly linked to BE members. They forced him to pay his entire balance to CrazyPirate in order to not be attacked. After giving the money and the items he got from donating they still kept killing him and teleporting in different players to keep killing him. This isn’t a hypothetical situation or made up. I have it all recorded and already made an official report on it. Warnings were handed out. So please do not try to claim you have only done this to one crew when there is evidence of this happening to others. This issue was cross checked by logs, and smokey was about ready to bite CrazyPirates head off. I don’t like people being senselessly killed. Call me whatever you will. After panda was bullied he was forced somewhat into BE, and lazy was helping him until he was called useless since he’s a noob and kicked out of the crew. I have not kept up to date with him so I do not know if he’s still in BE.

    On a personal note I have been killed by BE twice within the last month. I have not participated in any activities against BE, but was actually working to settle the conflict with Java and London. You can ask browe yourself. I own the opening to the London canal. I will ensure no one trys to block it again. I also proposed plans to try and help dig new canals for London to settle issues. I only have issues with players when they are overly mean. So being killed and loosing g sets and tools was rather painful to me when some of them were gifts from friends when I never had any god items. I imagine I will never see them again. I don’t care if people are near spammers or loggers. I don’t PVP. I can defend myself well enough but not from real PVPers so why is it wrong to not want to loose your items?

    So please before making any more post that are based on your own personal opinions of recent BE activities, look at what has already occurred and been confirmed. If you can get warnings for harassment and bullying then your plan is probably not a good one.
    Now you might say I’m biased because I’m a leader of TAS and have irl relation with some people. This should actually though be a good thing for you guys. While I am recording everything that goes on when I’m online, I am not just a Big Brother to support my friends. If there is an instance where I’m online and people who are in BE seem to be being bullied, I can provide proof if needed. I’ve spoken before about things to members if I think they are not appropriate actions.

    Yeah, not having to worry about rubberbanding/getting kicked would be nice. And it might get fixed soon because nahadoth made some really good bug reports.

Occurs more frequently with haste 2/efficiency 5, but also happens without effects, and with some lower tier enchants, apart from blocks directly under you, which happens regardless of tools/effects.

     

     

    What should happen: The blocks should break the first, and when you place them they should not disappear.

     

     

    What is happening: When you try to place blocks they disappear, and if you are building up you get glitched around a bit. When you are trying to break blocks they a) Break then re-appear or b) Appear to break but are actually invisible (ghost blocks). When you are placing them some randomly appear then immediately disappear.

    Bug(s)being reported: Trap Door Glitch

    Tools And Effects: None

    Ping: 31ms

    How often it occurs: Very Often. Simply stand on top of a closed trap door and try to open it so you will fall down. This bug will most likely happen.

    What should happen: The trap door should open and you should fall through it.

    What is happening: When trying to open a trapdoor underneath you, it glitches out, making the opening noise repeatedly. The player falls for a 2nd but is then put back where he was. This is for trapdoors in your own claims.
