Hi all, as you might know, PirateCraft switched hosts from North America to Europe. Since that change, us Americans have had quite a bit of trouble trying to log in to the server. From having around 15-70 ping, we now currently have 120-180 ping on our best days. However, bad days seem to be a reoccurring trend. Whenever I am able to connect to the server (which is extremely rare now), I get around 1000-7000 ping. Some may call this ping “unplayable,” and I would have to agree. Today, January 22nd, 2020, some of the other American players including myself are having an extremely difficult time connecting to the server. From 4:30 PM EST to 9:10 PM EST, I have been checking every now and then to see if I’m able to log on. So far, on my best tries, I am able to load in a few chunks and my items inside of my inventory, then get disconnected.
What I’ve seen and what other Americans have seen when they log on:
First, the icon to click on the PirateCraft server for me has either an X on the connection symbol or after some refreshes, it’ll say the usual description it always has. After I click on it, I would very slowly start to have a few things around me load in. I would check tab and my ign, “MinisterMoo” wouldn’t be there and there would only be 3 names and a blank space and an empty inventory. Then, I would wait a bit longer, and my first chunk would load in. I would check the tab again, and my name is still white and my skin hasn’t loaded. Throughout this time, I check #gamechat in the discord, and the bot will say that I’ve joined the server. Later, I would sometimes see the items inside my inventory and the armor I was wearing. Then, about 20-30 seconds later, I would be disconnected without being able to say anything in chat or type any commands. Additionally, the only messages I see in the chat is the crew bulletin-board and the lottery message. The disconnect message is either “Timed Out” or “Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: Connection reset by peer.”
Troubleshooting:
I’ve tried lots of different ways to troubleshoot this issue. First, I tried resetting my launcher. Then, I tried refreshing my servers list many times. I’ve also tried having a staff jail me so I can load into a chunk with fewer entities. All of these ways have failed, and I still am unable to connect properly to the server. I am still looking for the appropriate solution, and I’d like to see your feedback down below. If you live in the Americas and are experiencing the same issues, please inform us all down below. Overview Description of Report
- Those players listed somehow, my guess is by throwing normal eggs, despawned over fourty villagers in my iron golem farm, and have done this twice now.
Detailed Information
- I’m pissed off. I work hard to transport these villagers, let alone getting them bred in the first place. Then, other players who have a grudge against me come do this shit. It’s so annoying to have hard work taken away, especially when I’ve done everything I can do prevent it- there really isn’t a way around it.
Evidence
- I have no evidence other than them being on my /near, which I only have a minecraft log of, and seeing them on livemap.
I’d like for something to be changed here. Perhaps make villagers not apply to the 50 mobs per chunk, or make griefprevention prevent spawning mobs in other people’s claims. All I know is that this will keep happening if nothing is changed.

Results!
Very smooth going battle throughout, high turnout, good use of strategies, lots of ships, no crash or drama, pretty much a perfect battle. As with last time, we had 2 lots of 20 minutes of fighting, with 10 minute breaks in between, followed by 15 minutes of sudden-death. We had more than 30 people taking part split among 5 ships.

Damage Report:
- Scuabtuinne – Received light damage throughout the battle thanks to mostly ranged engagements, good job guys!
- The Shrek’s Hand – Received moderate damage in first 4-5 minutes of battle from concentrated fire from 4orange’s ship, before turning around and sinking them. Also recieved moderate damage in second half thanks to Berlusconi and Scuabtuinne.
- Berlusconi – Received light damage in first half, and moderate damage in second half. Was largely repaired during the breaks.
- The Crusader – Received almost no damage in first half, and moderate concentrated fire in second half by Scuabtuinne, The Shrek’s Hand, and Berlusconi. The captain surrendered 2 minutes before sudden death started.
- 4orange’s ship – Chose to engage the disorganized Shrek’s Hand at the start, dealing good damage, but was sunk after 6 minutes from some lucky broadsides from the Shrek’s Hand. It sank largely intact.

Next Battle:
Doing a mini fleet battle next week Saturday 8th September at 8:00pm GMT – same time as usual. The basis of that battle is that any team can have up to 5 ships competing (rather than 1 per team). Its just for some fun, and will be a little more chaotic 🙂
More info will follow shortly, gunpowder and projectiles will be provided. Ships used for this battle can be used again, but please bring any additional ships you want to use. Ty

Results!
First battle in the new arena (now named Battle Bay) – and it worked almost perfectly… aside from that server crash at the end… oh well. The battle was split up into two lots of 20 minutes of fighting, with 10 minute breaks after each one. This was followed by a roughly 15 minute ‘sudden-death’ at the end (the server crashed during this period, so it went a bit messy with some ships having chunks missing). Surprisingly high turnout last night, counted 61 players online and at least 32 people on my /near – probably more. We had 5 ships and a submarine taking part. Thanks to Nahadoth and Moossolini for helping me moderate, and creeprr for recording the battle.

Damage Report:
- Phantom Narwhal – Received moderate damage throughout the battle, was duplicated due to restart with both copies having significant parts of the ships missing. Plans are made to repair it.
- Da Vinchi – Received moderate damage in the back at the start of the battle, light damage for the remaining battle. A chunk of the ship was missing after the restart. Is being repaired for next battle.
- CLTN Menace – Received light damage for most of the battle, followed by heavy damage in sudden-death. Is being repaired for next battle.
- Drifting’s ship – Received moderate damage throughout the battle, heavy damage in sudden-death. Is being repaired for next battle.
- BLURP_’s ship – Received heavy damage in first half (due to lack of armour), moderate damage in second half. Being rebuilt i think.

- Ships only for that battle – testing designs, I’ll follow it up with a normal battle afterwards
- I should be able to spawn in ships for people by then, arena should be claimed, and server ship shop at the warp
