Racial abuse?

So about a month ago I was accused of using racial slurs and honestly I thought not much of it afterwards, but since Turkeyman now brings it forth again and even linking the “abuse” toward Java and the whole canal trouble, I feel like I need to make a clarification, since I’m sure others have been talking about it too.

First of all, I’ll explain the “racial slur” claims as a have explained it to Max.

It’s lyrics from a song for Christs sake, calm the fuck down with the racist accusations, it’s outright crazy how little it takes to set someone off. It was never intended toward anyone, CERTAINLY not java, since he was not even online at the time.

What happened was that Cysteen set a bounty on my head of 1000£, due to me telling TAS to hurry up rebuilding the bridges as a joke. Obviously they did not like that and I can understand now if the BE was actually the ones who destroyed the brigdes in the first place. I did of course not know that since I hadn’t been online for a while at the time but boy oh boy did I get schooled and thats fine. Then the bounty followed and I said this exactly in chat:

“daaamn, run nigga run”

whereafter Cysteen said “excuse you?!?” and my ban resulted with caption “racial slur”. Excuse me, but this is not racial slur. I was phrasing lyrics that suited my situation from now being hunted and needed to run and duck… nor is it aimed towards anyone, not cysteen, not java. I do however understand how this sentence could be misinterpreted in the situation, if you don’t know the song, or just really really hate racists, as the situation was already pretty hot-heated and name-throwing had occurred prior to this.

Just a song, I’m sorry if someone get offended by the word nigga and I can understand staff don’t want this type of language on the server, but it was very impulsive and i certainly not meant to talk shit about any race whatsoever, it is just a swear word, which I in fact see Lots and lots and lots and lots of on the server. God, the amount of vulgar language and swearing I have seen on this server is alot and I am by no means better than anyone else, I’m not saying that.

I just feel it is an issue when we start calling each other racists, I’ve never called anyone a nigger, or white trash or chink or whatever… but I do get angry when cocky keyboard warriors call me ballso or tell me to go suck a fat one, so I am by no means an angel when it comes to swearing on the server, but I am not a racist. Re-fucking-lax, thank you. 🙂

also a note to turkeyman:
I am not the Prime minister of BE and haven’t been for half a year, Gildor is and after the 27th a new leader will take his place, jeez turkeman, you know we have elections, you even ran for PM once..

what do you even mean? I’m trying to explain this quote below, as I find it annoying, since it sounds like I am perpetuated as a racist, which I am not.

First of all, you were there only to troll the people currently working in said area, not just tell them to hurry up. Second, just give up. Why the hell are you explaining yourself now, rather than back then? Seems like a half ass attempt to begin with to put it bluntly. Just admit you were being a massive troll that day and be silent.

Ok lets get this out of the way then. Another case of someone taking something too seriously, and others putting words in each other’s mouths.

Firstly, why I gave you the mute/how I justify it:
1. If I wanted to have portrayed you as a racist, you would have received a warning stating so
2. I don’t know about other people here, but have never heard that song, let alone listen to rap or anything like that. I’m not saying its bad, I’m just saying that I don’t memorize song lyrics and think “ooh, he referenced a song I heard of, I’ll let him off for that”
3. We know there is a lot of vulgar language on here sometimes, and I have muted many people for it. You are not the exception to this rule – I do not treat you any different than another person who says the same thing

Secondly, the thing with Turkey’s comments:

The two instances of ‘Java and canal’, and ‘bislo being fine with the canal going through admin claims’ or whatever the original fuss was about, were not really related. Bislo isn’t on enough to dictate any sort of happenings over the canal, the crew, or whatever. Give him a break please. TAS/CLTN can be just as poorly tempered as BE. Sometimes you all act so butthurt towards each other, its hard to tell you apart. Let it go…

Now a message to everyone:

Bislo was not being racist, but he used a racial slur. They are different things
We know you can get angry when agitated, Bislo. The last time this happened, people and chat were muted, you were not.
Don’t call each other racists, its petty, and people nowadays over use the term for petty arguments.

I’m sure you’re all aware, I’ve been pretty gobby on the forums, sharing my opinions on the way rules are being enforced by select people. But let me be the one to tell you, thats not a goddamned excuse to tar everyone who dedicates their time and effort to this server with the same brush. Recent events and reports should not be an excuse to challenge what is evidently a fair response, and we shouldn’t start pretending there is some wider staff prejudice based on something as insignificant as an in game crew.

Its just fucking ridiculous!

Max’s response was reasoned, supported, and measured. In short, it was fair. Any drama over that is unsubstantiated and frankly insulting to the hard work and impartiality max provides. He’s a fair player, and honest staff, and that’s something we need more of.
