From Discord: Specific additional trigger rules for chat

from my discord post in #suggestions, I requested/suggested we add some chat auto corrections to the server

I suggested that for new deckhands, since this applies 99% of the time to them, that the word or phrase(s): “I cant swim”, “kicked for spam” trigger a chat message to say something along the lines of “Having trouble swimming, or getting kicked for spam? This is a known bug! Downgrade your client to 1.12.2 to fix.” preferably in a bright color to grab attention. like light blue.

for some actual chat autocorrections, could we correct the word(s) “gay”, “gey”, “gae” to be something else like the word “lame”. I am 100% aware that these 2 words have nothing to do with eachother, but the amount of people that use this term incorrectly, and as an insult is ridiculous. they want an insult, why not a less derogatory one instead?

the word/letter “L” should be replaced with the word/letters “GG”. using the letter L in chat is used the same was as when people used the word/letter EZ, basically them being toxic. iirc it stands for ‘lose’, it’s really just pointing out someone’s lost or is a loser. it’s used so much in a toxic way that it truly adds nothing posistive to chat, especially when it is spammed. it’s bad sportsmanship, and is just getting old.

I had this idea stirring for a while, I thought I could add this while im at it. would we be able to correct server names to be Pirate MC? the major server names like the ‘big square server’, or pixel, or the server that starts with the same letter that gets spammed in chat (L). (didn’t want to just write them out, I can edit and be more direct if requested by staff). changing these server names to our own server name would lessen the amount of advertising, and just kinda be funny watching some people struggle as they fail at breaking the rules. also, change their respective IP’s to the PMC IP. by this point, if anyone bypasses these, theyre not only advertising, but bypassing chat rules to advertise. (plus I just like seeing people struggle when they fail at trying to break the rules, hehe)

this is some stuff I could come up with on the spot, feel free to accept or shoot down any suggestion I have listed here. id be happy to help setting this up, however ill be AFK for the next couple days, so I wont be able to help in game, and typing on my phone is awful. ^-^/

Right I’m gonna just shut this before it spins out of control.

Whilst FREEDOM OF SPEECH is a value I uphold, I would rather had have liked to seen more constructive criticism of what Cysteen is proposing from Astro and wiskey_waters, which I’d enjoy reading in a forum post against this proposition- or with alternatives.

I for one hate the British law, and think you should be able to speak, think and do what you like- as long as it doesn’t infringe on somebody else’s rights (e.g. kill them, prevent them from doing their job, not allow them to express their view).

We do however have server rules, and I would rather see constructive criticism first before straight out accusations and name calling. Make a forum post containing that if you like, I just don’t think it’d get very far in explaining your point of view in my opinion and give the 2nd Amendment a good stance.

Freedom of expression is great, how that expression reflects on your character is another.

1. Instead of the kicked for spam message when they talk, I have instead hopefully just straight up fixed the issue (hopefully)
2. The swimming one, I have added as a really shit regex https://regex101.com/r/pSwYxk/1 (someone better at Regex please make a better one lol)
3. “gay”, “gey”, “gae” should replace with lame|meh (it’ll pick one random)
4. Just the single letter L may cause a lot of trouble trying to filter just one letter, I have attempted the regex https://regex101.com/r/cU5lC2/2694 for it and replacing it with “landlubber“
5. As for the server names, this would be best handled as advertising so its recorded on record, can you please PM me a list of server names people like to spam in chat, and I will create advertising rules for them.

Wait you are agreeing with this statement? This is a minecraft server you entitled psychopath. “censoring free speech” get a grip of reality, or leave.
