Would you use/want a small creative server?

We will be looking for some talented builders soon for a range of exiting new upcoming projects!

@PaulOnFire had the fantastic idea of having a PirateCraft creative server just for this, just a playground to build, test out ideas, with GriefPrevention that gives out large amounts of Claim blocks per hour and no siege.

Really simple, Normal MC world (None of that flat square box crap) that everyone can join in creative and build whatever they want, At present Ranks would not be synced, this would be a completely separate server as to not conflict with survival.

Would this be a good idea? Would you use this? What would need to be on the Survival server for this to work?

If it has the pirate ship plugin I would see this as an opportunity to build a lot of ships have epic ship battles and to build a massive underwater city.

I love this idea but I am scared people will be like “yeah lets do this 100% guys!” go on there once and then just stop after a few weeks but personally I would love a creative server ^_^

Yea. If the ship plugin was also added, that’s the only way you can test ships and ensure they work 🙂

Should I just pick a random seed for the normal world? I haven’t generated a world in a very long time, cant you pick specific generator settings now. What kind of normal world?

Well with 1.8 you can pick a custom world and adjust like the diamond count.

But with super flat words you can only adjust what Boone the world is in and how deep the world goes and stuff like that 😛

You can create a “superflat world” which is basically like a giant plains biome, with watering holes, lava lakes, villages, grass meadows and more.

@GodsDead as far as I know ‘super flat’ only works with 1 biome. So the ocean one would have to be on a separate world unless you could find a way to build a giant land area from the sea.

Maybe have 2 world’s:

1: flat and normal, a large area near the spawn will be all flat but as you go further out, it becomes a normal world.

2: And a water one with loads of islands to people to build on.

Honestly, I think that investing that money into increasing the survival server resources would be better, as lag is quite common especially when over 40 people are on at once. Creative would be cool to have, but I think that making survival lag-free should be top priority.

I am a semi talented builder, I’d be more than happy to help.

I think investing money into is Ok, but not to much investment. Like only whitelisted people would be able to join. That way, we dont spend much money.

On the other hand. If its server-wide, then have it a remake of piratecraft. A reg world.

Hrmh…I think a creative server is for testing designs that you want to put on the real server.
Therefore i think the creative worlds should be private and on everyones own account.
Propably jus my opinion…i just didn’t have good experiences with creative servers…..that much obsidian >_>

Looks like my reply got deleted when the website database got rolled back by the host.

This server has many purposes, Foremost I need to test its performance, If this type of server has solid performance and stability, and can cope with multiple servers and people going mad in creative and using ships, then it might be able to sustain our survival world.

Again, saying “y u no put money upgrade dis server” Is just silly, I know minecraft servers are advertised as MORE RAM FOR MORE USERS, this is entirely wrong, it is CPU, Network, HDD Write speeds, THEN RAM, of the server, ram does very little for improving performance.

This server im testing has 8GB ram, but I need to really test the CPU and Network capabilities.

To add to that, with a creative, we can find a creative team, that Paul will be running to help build the Hub, then once thats mostly done we can start work, or at the same time have a dedicated team for building games and arenas on another server on the same system.

Its all a process, its a complex one that I have though and is nothing at all about where money is being put, I can’t upgrade the current servers CPU so current host cannot be upgraded, Ive said this before, im only repeating myself.

Its also a learning platform for me to understand how a network properly works, without putting the current server in any danger.
