<p style=”text-align: center;”>The Problem:

When I first joined PirateCraft, I envisioned massive ship battles, with large explosions and tons of action. After playing on PirateCraft for a few months, I have come to realise that these ship battles will never happen. They will never happen for one reason: ships are currently useless. The only way you can use ships is to either relocate a base, or just for showing off. Due to this, most ships simply sit in a protected claim.
<p style=”text-align: center;”>The Fix:

<p style=”text-align: left;”>The solution to this problem is to make ships useful (duh). The real difficulty; however, is figuring out how to do so. To fix this problem, I recommend that you add an area with several islands where players can buy cargo and sell it at other islands. I was excited about the idea, so I attempted to do it on my server. I failed because I could not figure out how to get people to actually play on my server, and because I do not have the necessary skills to completely pull it off. Now, the only way this will happen is if this server makes it happen. This would be a win-win because the server would be improved, and I would have a game to play.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>How to actually do it:

<p style=”text-align: left;”>The way I did it was to have five islands that were a distance apart (but not too far), and at each island have a villager that would sell one type of cargo, and buy others for more, depending on how distant the island that the cargo was purchased was. For the actual cargo, I used music discs because they do not stack. I also heavily limited the number of chests allowed on ships. PirateCraft, having a superior build team, could use signs instead of villagers to buy and sell cargo. PirateCraft would need either a system to allow players to transport ships from the survival world to the trade world, a place to let players build ships in the trade world, or maybe allow players to buy ships in the trade world.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>

<p style=”text-align: center;”>Please note that I am not trying to advertise anything in any way! I am just trying to help improve the server, and my overall experience on PirateCraft!
November 25, 2016 at 8:36 pm #44217This would also fix the economy being dead.
November 25, 2016 at 9:19 pm #44219The server has plans to add in a new no-tp world, but this is an interesting idea. Would the islands have different buy and sell prices for different music discs?
Plus, the cargo could be purely command made, not an actual item.
But, this would make music discs worth a lot less, so I suggest you find a different item.
We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.

Hi
November 25, 2016 at 9:34 pm #44223Yes, there are other servers out there in which there are no set home, no warp, no tp environments in which you must sail to make a living. I agree with the 2nd server plan, as we are already way to far in on the main server to make a large scale switch like that.
I also believe the only way ships will work on a server like the one I just mentioned is one in which ships can be bought, or custom ones can be replicated for in game money. That way, after a while of being a merchant, you could have enough money to buy a ship with guns, and maybe some more leftover for another one.

Very valid points Zandad, however, they have been made before, and the staff here have taken notes; constructive feedback is always appreciated, so long as there is some thought behind it!

Basically, a lot of people know that ships need to be more crucial to gameplay, staff included, but there’s no feasible way to implement that on the main server; it would just be too much of a shock to established towns, players and crews.
If you want a no tp server, it has to be that way from the start, so that towns spring up in all the right places, and everything has that nice ‘flow’. As it is, the main world has evolved using tp’s and warps, and so to turn that off would be to turn the server on its head 😉
As such, the staff are working hard on implementing this on a second world (alongside a planned games server). Patience is all that is required on our end, and we get to enjoy it when it does come out, free of charge. In the meantime, we have one hell of a server and community to play on/with. That’s a win in my books, any day. 🙂
November 25, 2016 at 10:37 pm #44226I was trying to suggest that the main survival server be kept, but another world be added which contained islands to trade between. Money would be shared between worlds as to give the best of both worlds. I think the current survival world setup is awesome, and just disabling tp on it would do nothing to increase how much ships are worth. This is because almost every type of transportation is faster than a ship.

Hi
November 26, 2016 at 2:57 pm #44249zandad read what all the replies have said- godsy is working on this, just give him and the other staff time, they have a whole slew of other more important problems on their plates as well.

November 26, 2016 at 3:24 pm #44250Staff take all ideas from the community very seriously, and are always actively trying to improve the server. There are, therefore, plans to make a no TP world with greater emphasis on the use of ships; the use of an island world has also been discussed, and is likely going to be implemented.
