    Ok hear me out.

    Firsty i love the THEME of this server and I know I am technically new here to be making huge change suggestions and this will be met with some hostility and scoffed at by some of the “established”, but I see a few issues that IN MY OPINION could improve the server. This is not an attck of the how the server is currently running as obviously some ppl enjoy it. These are purely my thoughts and may not even be a good idea all in all, but I feel it could work for the better and increase the server participation with an increase in players and action.

     

    PVP-

    The PVP on this server seems to consists purely of those with fully godded up diamond gear armed to the teeth with gapples, crapples, EXP bots, potions of healing, regen etc. hitting each other occasionally over a silly length of time while talking smack in the chat waiting for the other person to run out of health boosts.

    No one else need apply.

    Everyone else is open game to be hunted down and rage quit once a few days of grinding effort is blitzed out by some winner all geared up hunting noobs who are still trying to build a dirt house and find food. The new players quit rate seems to be huge because of this.

     

    1. That is generic Minecraft PVP and adds nothing to the pirate theme, actually it detracts from it a lot.

    2. It is non inclusive. Yes this will sound like a cry but it is reserved purely for those established with massive resources who can resource that gear in the first place, let alone risk going into a battle and god forbid, losing any of it. The time investment to attain that gear is ridiculous for anyone without an infrastructure of grinders and farms etc and of course this will be poo poo’d by those with the monopolies of the resources who say “its easy, nub”.

     

    My suggestions- bear in mind these are suggestions i would like to hear counters to without being abused etc.

    1. Get rid of most/all magic health boosts- apples, healing, regeneration etc.

    2. Get rid of Diamond gear. WHHHHHHAAAAAAT!!! Why not? There is nothing piraty about blue diamond gear. Its silly. It will also, god forbid, lower the playing field to so that more players more often can engage in skill based combat that isnt Diablo3 button mashing boost based.

    3. Limit/remove (at the extreme) gear enchantment. (ok that would make things too boring) but maybe reduce sharp, prot, etc to level 3? Once again this would make combat more inclusive and allow those without the full standard god setup to engage in the game more fully more often and take away the sting of losing enough so that they can bounce back without being ruined after a big loss of gear and rage quit.

    Summary-

    Get rid of the OP crap that is pushing the fun out of the server.

     

    Ships-

    I joined this server because of the ships.

    Now i find like everyone else soon realizes that they are purely pretty ornaments and can be outrun by a row boat, etc useless. And you better not take one out for a spin because you are utterly exposed to attack and loss of the ship by godded up clowns. Awesome fun. I know there are a few threads on this already and it seems tricky to balance but the most obvious is that row boats should never be faster that large sails boats (unless the row boat is a large crewed galley with slaves to row).

    Im just going to talk about the Pvp part of this . One the reason those people have good stuff is because they have been on the server for close to a year or more. Why would we want people that have been on the server for a week to already have the same armour as a person that has been here for a year?

    Then getting rid of pots and crapples? That’s pretty much changing Pvp all together.

    The point of Minecraft is to keep getting better stuff. Iron-plain Diamond- enchanted Diamond, then you work on getting pots and crapples. That’s why people spend ages making huge farms. If we used your idea those farms would all go to waste.

    Diamond gear is easy to get. This is coming from someone whom owns but a single skeleton grinder, and hasn’t used it much; this I acquired quite recently. The lovely thing about this server is that it is easy to play.

    You start by placing your chest down-that area is now claimed. You mine a few trees using your fists, and you cover the chest with a log (siegeproof block).

    You use /tools and the rest of the logs to make a spade and a pick. You mine the dirt away under your claim, and you mine some stonebrick. Using a crafting table (obtained using the earlier logs) you make a stone pick, and a furnace.

    You mine some coal.

    You create Stonebrick. 8 pieces of coal and a stack of cobble later, you have a siegeproof house, as it is made of stonebrick. You ensure chests are covered.

    You continue playing minecraft; expanding the claim, making a farm, making the house larger, obtaining resources. Your chests are covered; if you die, you lose merely tools. You sell, you grow, you sell, you mine, you sell, you get rich. You play minecraft as you otherwise would, obtaining diamonds, visiting the end and the nether; its easy!

    As godsy has said many times, there will be a new world, with the focus on ship vs ship combat. Teleporting will be off, and it’ll be more like a hardcore server. Muskets may be added, and it will be more of a ‘pirate’ experience.

    Staff can only do so much, and if you disable too much of vanilla minecraft, a number of problems arise. Firstly, you have to use half a million extra plugins to disabled the fundamentals of the game. You then have half a million devs to talk to, when you end up finding 30 million bugs and exploits. The server runs slower, and there are more risks should a plugin stop working. You can only update to a new minecraft when all the plugins have; this could take months, if you have many of them.

    You also have to deal with the constant ‘why can’t I craft potions’, and other such complaints, alongside those who quit when they can’t be arsed to explore this complicated new sever.

    That’s why all these ideas are being introduced with the new server. And, please, for all our sakes, read the forums, a post identical to this was made merely days ago.

    But to make it short we don’t want noobs coming on having the same stuff as a person who’s been on here for a year.

    Yeah Okta I disagree on getting rid of diamond armor. That remark was stupid (In my opinion), you are basically suggesting diamond armor to be banned because it is not pirate themed. If that’s the case, let’s get rid of purple blocks, nether blocks?

    Agree diamond armour in itself isn’t a big problem. Diamond god armour (although still OP) in combination with the apples and healing boosts and make PvP unbalanced. And the lead up time to getting those things from scratch for newish players to participate is massive.

    But as expected no one is seeing the forest for the trees on the issue.

    Minecraft is the most popular game in the world. This server gets about 35 pl max on it. That says something. New people join all the time and soon leave. They want to play, but the learning curve to participation is too massive.

    I think this world would be more fun with more players more often at a greater participation level. Does anyone agree with that or happy with the small community of regular players?

    Any changes could affect the economy as well which would have to be taken into account and ultimately Gods has to be able to keep the the server running or there is no debate.

    I think its also a debate between those who prefer stats based combat over skills based combat.

    well anyways these ideas will probably be put into the new server with some limitations of course. 1.11 when it comes out will revamp the new combat so you don’t regenerate health like goddamn wolverine. So both servers will be just as entertaining. Well for me at least. I’m pretty sure not everyone likes constant bickering between crews for some incomprehensible reason. So I’ll probably be on the new server frequently.

    oh yeah also there is a way to do 10 full hearts of damage to someone in FULL GOD in a single goddamn hit In 1.10 so I think if you know what you’re doing combat can be skill based.

    God dammit where do I start.

    1. When someone joins a minecraft server without mods, they expect the basics to work, don’t mess with the basics. you got beef with the mechanics with minecraft? Then take it up with Mojang. Yes Its flawed, I’ve covered this before, use the search on the forums. This isnt a PirateCraft problem mate, its Minecraft terrible design.
    2. Get rid of diamond gear? read point one.
    3. I don’t think you understand how a server works, read point one.

    This is ridiculous, Im closing this because I don’t have the patience.
