What do protections do?

I was under the impression that protections on this server work just like those on any other server. I have been careful to read all of the material about this stuff that I could find both in the PirateCraft Bible and the website, but nothing clued me in at any point that protections are different on this server until someone walked into my house and stole from my chests. Apparently, as I have been told by other players, protecting land does not lock chests, and there is no way to lock them through any means other than putting a block on top of them.

What else do I need to know about protections on this server? What do they do, specifically?

Your base is protected from damage as long as you’re not in a siege.

People can siege you while you’re in the claim.

People can open claimed wooden doors, so use iron doors.

Use stone buttons, as wood buttons can be shot with arrows to activate them.

Do /info siege to see blocks that can be broken during a siege.

But at the moment, siege is disabled.
