    I sincerely don’t understand what is holding the server back from making trade areas pvp-free. Now that I own a trade town with a warp, I feel more strongly about the subject than ever. My innocent shop owners and customers are being attacked by nubs. Let the pvp-crazed players go to personal bases to raid and pvp, and let the economy benefit from protecting trade towns! Hypothetical question that’s always asked: who get’s this protection? Answer: The players that have spent money and tons of time working on trade ports to serve the public. Hypothetical question that will also be asked: what about people camping the pvp-free area? Answer: It’s going to happen anyways! The Cove is pvp-free as a test, and it’s working perfectly. Nobody goes to the Cove or spawn to camp away from pvp. The Cove’s pvp-free test has obviously and, as easily predicted, works perfectly. Community and staff, please don’t put this HUGE flaw in our system to the wayside anymore. Let’s make purely trade-oriented areas pvp-free. I know this subject comes up a lot, and I plan on campaigning this subject until somebody staples my lips shut or until we “test” it on more areas and find that it would be the best decision made in a long time. Sorry to all if this sounds heated, but it is. Enough is enough. Thanks for everybody’s time and considerations. Feel free to voice your opinion below.

    Thanks … I’m sure none of the staff members were aware of that issue and thinking/working on ways to solve it without destroying totally pvp on the server or making some donators nearly invulnerable (by making warps pvp free areas)…

    I totally support this, I think trading warps should be pvp free, and with all the additions made to the pvp system to prevent people from abusing pvp free warps, I think we can do it!

    Machi is very right though, the big issue now (as mentioned above, the mods HAVE been working on the things needed to make this happen, but they need our help in figuring out parts too!) is the owners of the towns being invulnerable.

     

    So here’s what I suggest. Previously it’s been said player owned pvp free warps would be a bad idea because it would give that player an invulnerable base. So here’s the suggestions; player warps can be made pvp free IF those players meet certain specifications.

    Examples of Player Requirements to own a pvp free approved shop:

    • The designated areas MUST BE shop/recreation areas only!! (No bases, no personal items, no living spaces other than for scenic recreation of the public)
    • The designated areas MUST BE made for public use, and open to the public at all times. (pvp free means there is no reason to block off or close a warp to build or add to the shop)
    • The designated areas MUST BE ready at any time for a moderator to inspect, to insure the rules are being followed.
    • The person who owns the designated area MUST BE a donator, and have been on the server for a specified amount of time. (this prevents noobs from making themselves invulnerable)

     

    Other possible rules:

    • The person who owns the designated area would have to meet a donation requirement; so that only those people who show they really want to help the server in and out of game will get the honor of having a pvp free warp.
    • The person who owns the designated area would have to pay an extra fee and/or subscription to keep the area pvp free.
    • The claim in which the pvp free areas exist must have a stone wall or fence border, to prevent people from running back and forth (optionally with a device operated gate)

     

     

    Please guys; I am sure if we can setup some good rules to prevent player abuse, then we can make this happen. We just have to do our best to work with the mods and figure out, as a community, how to make this work so that we can have a happy community where builders and pvpers can co exist!

    Mods please tell us what problems we need to figure out; and while many ideas thrown out might not be suitable, I am certain that with everyone brainstorming, you guys can pick and choose what ideas YOU want to see happen in the server, and we can come to some sort of a compromise that makes everyone happy and prevents the abuse factor?

    What about the ability for shop owners to blacklist certain players from warping to their shops? That way the threat of invasion is still possible but much harder for those who do it and keeps the harassment at a minimum.

    @azuries I like the first four rules, but the “Other Possible Rules” section wouldn’t be necessary I don’t believe. Surely they wouldn’t charge the trade area owner even more irl money since the trade area owners are oparating for the good of the server to start with. But overall, me and you have the same opinions of the matter and I believe we could be of much help in the development and testing of this feature 🙂

    @_CaptainD I like the idea, but I see blacklisted players simply setting a home near the warp or teleporting to their friends at the warp to continue their chaos.

    I’m in Rome airport, so this is going to be simple, I’ve already talked about this, the cove was made pvp free as a test and it worked well, but why should YOU get a pvp free area? Your post comes across really rude like you are entitled to something, we are working on this, I haven’t been in the country all week, it’s not as simple as you think, you need to think about a lot of parameters and technicalities, either way you haven’t thought about siege have you? If I made your area pvp free, someone could siege you and you wouldn’t be able to do anything about it as they are invulnerable to pvp. Also people cannot buy warps any more, you need to take this into consideration, as I have said already, I will be making server owned warps free to start, and you need to be patient until we find a suitable solution, you choose the eccomerce life, you need to design on the right way to protect people, you need beacons to protect, you need to pay for security like you would in the real world and you need to be patient.

    I see, well maybe we can use this forum to help throw out potential ideas; I know you guys are working super hard to fix the issue and extra brains are always helpful!

    If you guys can tell us what obstacles you are having the most trouble with, the community can pose suggestions to help! Maybe not all the suggestions will be worth the time; but if 1 in 10 people propose a fantastic solution that hasn’t been thought of, then it’s worth the time spent, right?

     

    As for seige; is there no way to make that claim based? Is there no toggle option or anything like that? I’d always assumed like pvp it could be toggled off, so perhaps better understanding of how that works will make it easier to suggest fixes!

     

     

    Bear with us Godsy, no one is trying to criticize you or the rest of the team; we know you guys work super hard and we appreciate that more than anything!

    I think people just get impatient when they don’t hear anything concrete after a small while and the best way to deal with that might be to let people get more involved!

    @godsdead I’m not entitled to a single thing and this wasn’t meant to come across rude whatsoever. I don’t see much of a point in formalities though, if you’re mistaken my straight-forwardness for rudeness. I do understand that you’ve been away and that there are technicalities to look at with this, just as is with anything. This forum thread isn’t at all a demand for my town to immediately be made pvp-free, it’s just here to show my stern support for the matter. Concerning siege, all I have to do is jump in the water on any and every side of my town to leave the area and end the siege. Siege, at least in my area, shouldn’t be an issue. Again, I never intend to be rude in my conversations and replies. Thank you, Gods, for your time and consideration. Safe travels.
