Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes. So I was at Cotij’s base using his guardian farm when, while holding my sword, I accidentally pressed q. Instead of it dropping as would be expected, the sword totally disappeared. I tested with some junk items and they all disappeared too. I think it’s because his farm was running and the area had hit the entity cap. Is there any way I can get that sword refunded? It was a diamond sword called Gladius with sharpness 5, looting 3, unbreaking 3, fire aspect 2, sweeping blade 3, and mending. Thanks.

Are you sure there weren’t any hoppers in the farm where the sword could have gone?

Quoting this from the server rules “Lost goods will not be replenished, do not beg or ask staff.”

100%. I wasn’t actually in the farm, and I tested repeatedly completely away from hoppers and the items kept disappearing.

Hmm. I was under the impression that meant if you lost items in the normal course of play, like if someone kills you or if you fall in lava. The reason I lost my sword was essentially because of a bug, or at least an unintended consequence of a feature. Items aren’t supposed to just disappear when you drop them. Back to the rule against asking for items to be replenished, would staff really not refund items if, say, the chunk your vault was in got corrupted and all the items were gone? Or if you were fighting someone and had video evidence that they were hacking and killed you, would they not return the items you had on you? Or are those cases more like you report what happened but don’t ask for your stuff back, and the staff will give you your stuff back without you for it? Seems like a pretty ridiculous rule if it means in all situations.

It is understandable that they may not want to refund it given that I don’t have proof that I lost it from this bug and not some other way, though.

Prove to us that you lost exactly what you said. Can you?

What if you said you accidentally dropped a stack of beacons? What if the guardian farm swallowed your whole vault? You see?

That’s why the rule is here. The entity cap is here for a good reason, it’s not really a bug. All the examples you provided us with, no, you would likely not get your items back unless it’s a very special situation. Sorry that you lost your sword though.

Precisely why I said I understand why they may not want to refund my sword. But really, even if you had video evidence of a fight with a hacker the staff wouldn’t refund your stuff? That seems unlikely to me.

And what I was saying about the entity cap isn’t that it’s a bug, but that it’s an intended feature that had a non-intended effect in this situation that makes for a poor playing experience. The entity cap isn’t supposed to make it so that if you accidentally press q when you meant to press w just while you’re walking around that item vanishes, it’s supposed to reduce lag.

Ah, I was just looking over the rules again and saw this more pertinent rule:

<em style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #46484a; font-family: ‘open sans’, ‘helvetica neue’, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;”>Items lost to glitches will not be replaced.

So I guess I’ll close this thread. Seems like a dumb rule to me, but I’m sure there’s reason for it.
