I was selling diamonds to make money and buy ship materials so my friend and I were mining a lot. At a point me and my friend were both mining and looking for diamonds and out of no where I get banned for using a mod. I am not sure how to use one but I was playing in a regular version of the game so I was a bit confused as to what I did.

Nope, I’m certain you were using an xray texturepack or something of the sort – you weren’t missing any diamonds whatsoever, very eratic. You can return once the ban runs out.
