Hello, I am here with a new question which hopefully won’t annoy anybody. It may be useful for future generations of novices. I have found a lot of old topics in the forum about skirmishes and wars. They all started with somebody raiding somebody and then getting raged, punished and deleted forever and ever. What I want to ask, is when somebody can attack people without getting judjed for bad morality, harrassement, cruelty. This is a pirate server, so I guess there is a limit that allows pirates to do their job and bring soul to the server. If all the pirates were punished and destroyed, there wouldn’t be any, right? So, how can somebody attack somebody else and be only defined stronger and not bad? There would be, of course, the revenge of the crew, if the victim has one, which is fine. I would like to know how to avoid complaining on the forum. I hope I have been clear enough. Thank you for your attention.
April 19, 2016 at 9:44 pm #33031Wait, what are you saying exactly. Are you trying to bring forward the topic of players being butthurt for dying?

Such as attacking a certain person and siege them only once a day for a half hour. Unless you actually have a reason to be attacking them then it can be like 3 times a day.

April 20, 2016 at 11:35 pm #33097There are two major factions in my eyes on this server. The empires and the pirates. The empires try to act “civilized” for a lack of better terms and only fight and raid with justification and reasoning behind said conflicts (most of the time) They use a lot of politics and foreign relations to try and keep a general order or peace. Meanwhile, the pirates disregard the empires attempts to ensure domestic tranquility and raid and plunder according to their own agenda. There are certain pros and cons pertaining to each mindset. Pros of empires briefly consist of many allies and stronger “political” ties with other nations. This gives crews a general sense of safety and provides a group atmosphere in which large scale projects can be put in place with aid from other nations. The pirates ignore all of the “laws” (things in quotes refer to things that aren’t official server wide but are essentially driven by player morals) and can raid whoever they please and become very rich quick. Cons of an empire are the restrictions to the “moral code” as well as threat of pirates. They also tend to lack the PvP skills pirate crews obtain. Pirates lack server wide support of empires and must be powerful to survive usually through exemplary PvP skills and economic backing of farms/grinding. Both factions are two separate yet distinct play styles. You choose whatever one fits you best. But what do I know ;). Don’t take my advice, explore the server and forums yourself and play to gain your own understanding. Hope this helps.
P.s. no one likes butthurt whiners or hackers which probably drove some of the conflicts in which you read about

April 21, 2016 at 5:06 am #33129<b>Nicky that was possibly one of one best explanations of how things work on this server that I’ve ever seen. I myself am part of a pirate crew and we do indeed ignore the player made laws of the server. As for the flame wars that sometimes happen in the forums. Nicky is quite right in saying that these ussually come from personal issues between the two parties involved. Drama is going to happen and people are occasionally going to get a bit butt hurt. Unfortunately when you get raided sometimes and realize that there isn’t a whole lot you can do to retaliate you do the one thing you can and throw words which quite often piss of the one who raided you and then bam you’re back to being raided again. Its a difficult problem to fix as everyone sometimes finds if difficult to keep their mouthes shut. I know I’ve been guilty of it but I’ve since learned to keep quite and wait. Revenge is sweetest when the person believes you’ve forgotten. Now saying all of this I also have to say that people sometimes need to remember this is a game anything you lose you can rebuild. That is the beauty of minecraft. You can always kick out a leg and bring yourself back up. Also though I hate to admit it we pirates sometimes need to remember that some of the people we raid aren’t just acting like 10 year olds. They are ten year olds and I know I damn sure didn’t have as thick of skin at 10 as I do now. It really all comes down to picking your play style, keeping a level head, and remembering that it is a game. If bad stuff happens and you feel yourself getting salty and ready to spit fire then take a break. You’ll be better for it.</b>

April 21, 2016 at 11:20 am #33144Understood, thanks. Ill see what is better for me. I have another question. Can cannons destroy every type of block? Can they damage structures only in siege mode or even when the place ownwr is away? Does the siege mode work when the victim is online or when the victim is specifically in the claim that I want to attack?
April 21, 2016 at 11:57 am #33150April 21, 2016 at 1:11 pm #33156If cannons cannot damage hard blocks in claims, why then there are a lot of topics about destroyed cities? How did these cities manage to get blown up? I’m sure everybody builds structures with at least stone bricks…

People trust the wrong people; they get backstabbed, its possible to toggle explosions inside a claim if you have trust on it.
April 21, 2016 at 4:27 pm #33161If you asking about the ‘morality’ of combat, that is a personal decision each person makes as to how they define morality, and if what they do honors that moral code. Some would argue that there is honor in being brave in combat, while other might argue that simply staying alive is the right thing at all costs, while others still would say victory at any cost brings honor, regardless of whether or not there was any real challenge or test of skill or strength (e.g. dinosaur vs. butterfly). There are also those who see honor through service and non-combative means of problem resolution.
All that being said, I agree with many points Daniel brought up that this is just a game and to keep it in that context, and to realize that in the end, no one really dies, stuff isn’t really lost, stolen or destroyed, and everything, even your head, can be replaced. And since it is people driving the action, you are going to run into situations where there are individuals, or even groups that are unnecessarily mean, cruel and unfair. But then you will also run into some of the nicest people you will meet. So, like life, its a mixed bag. Just be prepared, have a plan, try hard, do your best, and learn from any mistakes. Oh, and above all, have fun! Good luck!

~~~~~ from the dust of the void all is made, and to the void it returns~~~~~April 22, 2016 at 8:01 am #33213Thanks eveeybody. I guess that grief prevention is very good defence. The only way to destroy a claimed wall seems to be bribing somebody in the victim team. Without bribing, the only way to conquer a city is to raid (kill and open chests) the city every day with regular pauses – 2 times a day? More? Less? and just make life there impossible so the victims move somewhere else?
April 23, 2016 at 12:03 am #33266Just noticed that to pass the rank of sailor you need to kill 20 people. Peace in Piratecraft is an impossible utopia by definition. The server itself wants me to start wars! …Luckily!
April 23, 2016 at 11:11 am #33272Well, then again, some people get salty from real life things… I’m not denying the fact I tend to unload my salty salt on the server every time I get really annoyed about something :/
Though, it depends who’s online, but some staff who tend to get annoyed but bounties on me… which really sucks for me xD
April 29, 2016 at 9:02 am #33609I don’t want to open a new topic and I am sorry if somebody already asked this somewhere else:
The siege information page on the site says that “WOOD” is breakable during attacks. Does that refer to wooden planks or also to logs? Are logs destroyable in siege mode?April 29, 2016 at 9:05 am #33610@genny most wooden items except for logs, fences, chests, and crafting tables are destroyable during siege.
