Move to New server complete! Make sure you use the host mc.piratemc.com to join to the new IP!
39,000 files downloaded and uploaded later, we are on a brand new node with 3GB’s RAM behind us to hold a whopping 50 people now! I would like to say a giant thank you to all the donators on PirateCraft making this possible!
Original Message:
PirateCraft is down while I make an entire server backup ready to move to a new node (New IP) ready for a big slot upgrade.
Hopefully everything goes smoothly, Ill be on Skype while I do this (godsdead) and updating this post.
I expect to be down all of today, as this is a long process.
What all players need to do:
Make sure you add or update PirateCraft IP to mc.piratemc.com, this will be automatically updated with the new IP and you will just have to wait for us to come online! The website server status may be down even when we come back online on the new node due to having to wait for customer support to update our IP.
Thanks for your patience!
Topic: Welcome!
Welcome to the official group for the Virgin Islands, the first Crown Colony to be established on PirateCraft. As a Port Royal colony, the rules are the same, as are the building regulations. We are currently looking for members, and a governor, so please comment if you are interested.
Forum: Virgin Islands
The First Crown Colony to be established on PirateCraft.Topic: Updated to 1.7.9
Update: We have successfully upgraded and opened up running 1.7.9, All clients running 1.7 will work.
Maintenance Message:
We have tested the move from 1.7.5 to 1.7.9 on PirateCrafts development server and run through all the plugins, most all seems to be well, but with any new updates there are always bugs.
The server will be going down for a short while and into whitelist mode for brief testing.
Topic: Application for Town status
Town’s are settlements that are in constant development that have a history and are seen as landmarks on PirateCraft, Being accepted as a town by GodsDead and Iamthereaper will award the town with an Icon on the Map.
To apply for town status, you first need to fill out the Settlement application “List of Settlements Thread“.
Required to apply for town status
- Submitted Settlement to Tims List of Settlements Thread
- 1 Town Hall (Could be used for planning the town, Sign wall inside.)
- Walkways/Roads/Paths connecting all builds (Bonus points for connecting to other towns/landmarks)
- 1 Beacon
- Shop (Selling stocked at least 50 items) or An Arena
- Building architecture should follow similar themes and each building should feature characteristics of that building, i.e A church wouldn’t just be a square box with a sign on the front saying “Church”.
- Buildings can not be hollow, unused shells. Houses need to have furnished rooms.
Minimum of 5 building types required, Some ideas:
- Blacksmith

- Port if (coastal)
- lighthouse (coastal)

Im absolutly over the moon, PirateCraft got a really posative review from pcgamesn.com, I had no idea we were going to get reviewed, let alone make it to their “15 Best minecraft servers”, I only noticed the post while reviewing referals to the website, we had a small spike in traffic when this was published, and the article is still avalible on their homepage via the right hand sidebar!

At present I still havent advertised PirateCraft, which makes this even more of a success in my eyes and im chuffed to bits at such a posative review, I would like to say thanks to all the regular players, it wouldnt be PirateCraft without such an amazing community.
Heres a copy/paste of the review.
PirateCraft
ip address: mc.piratemc.comSail, build, and plunder in PirateCraft, a server dedicated to the golden age of scurvy and theft. One of the most ambitious servers we’ve played on, PirateCraft has a fully-functioning ship-to-ship combat mechanic. As with all Minecraft ideas of such magnitude it’s a little clunky, but it works. Ships can be built and sailed across the seas, and cannons mounted to the hull and fired into enemy vessels.
On land a simple but functional economy replicates the trade and booty of the period, and players can build their own houses on ‘safe zones’ in order to bunk and store treasures in. Safe Zones are protected from griefers, meaning you can build as much as you like without fear of others trashing your masterpieces.
Of course, if you’re roleplaying a pirate there’s going to be some grief involved, and provided the owner is in a safe zone, other players can siege them. Attackers can destroy ‘soft’ blocks, and generally make a nuisance of themselves until they either walk away or the defender surrenders. Similarly ships can be stolen, provided the owner is not onboard at the time.
