    It seems about 90% of the issues recently have been due to the new host.

    I’m not suggesting we go back to the old one; but would it be feasible to have some sort of fundraiser to find a better host? Or perhaps to purchase a server and similar equipment to be able to host it yourself?

    I’m sure the regular donaters would be all for throwing a little money at the possibility of having the host-related issues stop.

    This is a bump to remind people that are unaware, we have this group & forum threads for settlements and town applications.

    Read here to understand the difference between Towns & Settlements.

    Settlement discussion can also take place in this Settlement Group Forum (Where this topic is).

    So if you are looking to start building a Settlement between people that dosunt have a name for a full blown group, this is the forum you would use to search for people to build a settlement together with.

    This is also a reminder that Donators can create their own Icons on the dynmap that gets shown under “Pirates” in the layer menu, after writing this sentence out, it would make sense for me to re-name this to “Settlements” and create a new “Towns” layer too that’s default shown.

    As I writing this, I am aware that the map is currently down.

    How do I create a new group?

    Since I am still getting hassle about this mess, Let me clear up a few things.

    Land is owned by whoever claims it, Reptaria claimed this entire city with bought claim blocks though the shop, these were all claimed back and I was charged on top.

    This is the first time I have had to deal with such a problem, so im going to take my time on making a decision, Reptaria has been in contact to tell me he will pay the outstanding dept for the claims, so the city stands for now.

    This thread is staying open and I still want ideas, as this is a great thread so far! I love the ideas, and we need a backup if Reptaria does not follow through.

    How about it,

    a cruise ship that travels all around our world and stops of at all the major ports. It will be constructed by a team of builders( if it sounds like a good idea message me to help) the ship will be manowar/indiaman size and stop off at all the major ports.  What do we think!? (Fee to come for a trip £10)

    We have a few missives that are out of date, and the server has changed a far amount with new things being added others removed, so with your help lets get this updated! I have tried to strip out as much formatting code as I can, there is still some left like line breaks or placeholders for a username.

    These are amazing ideas, the problem we have is that I can’t think of a technical method to do this, or a plugin that we could use to do it.

    The only option we would have is to disable teleporting all together to stop people cheating this, the only way I can think of doing it would be to have another map with all teleport disabled for everyone, I would much prefer to have everything on one world though.

    One way we could do this would be to set a temporary rank, that disables all permissions for teleporting.

    so for example, if we used this as a “Jobs” plugin, where you need to get form point A to point B in a certain time, forget the goods for now.

    The problem would then be people complaining about other people attacking them on a “job” – “Its not fair if we have Tp disabled and they have it boo-hoo blah blah” I can see it already.

    The other issue about temporary ranks, is it would conflict with auto-ranking and donator ranks, Nearly every single plugin I have used can not remember the current rank of a player before you set a temporary rank, so if you were set to “merchant” when the jobs over, it wouldnt know what to set you back as.

    A way around this, would be to set permissions per person, instead of ranks, so It would have to remove all teleport commands during that “job” time.

    An issue that may occur with this, is if the plugin is buggy, some people may get these permissions stuck, if a reboot happens during a “job” then it will forget a “job” is happening and that player will be stuck with those perms removed, like what happens if your in the arena during a reboot.

    So, we would need a jobs plugin, that can register items being brought from Point A to Point B, that is timed, it can block commands during this job, and manage eco.

    @Azuries Ok, I just added in 2 more stops, starts and warnings. If you can report back results from playing in a few days to see if this fixed the problem, Just so you know we now stop then start again at, 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00, The start command is sent at 00:02, 06:02, 12:02 and 18:02.

    I need to convert over griefprevention to the latest version, its a big step though, restarting isnt the best fix for an issue like this, I know that there is a problematic plugin now, so we need to weed it out, Its not even something I can test on a development server as you need players to play!

    I will have to start updating everything, first up is griefprevention, then we can move to 1.8 (If the world conversion goes ahead nicely)

    @Ma_c_hi the only reason i sugested that dropped trade items be destroyed, is to stop donaters having that huge advantage. plus it stops people dropping there stuff, seting a home at that location, and then going to a friend to grab food, or a potion or something, to then use /home to go back and get there stuff.

    its the same with the chest again, it stops them from ditching there stuff to go grab sopmething they forgot, though i didnt think this through fully i guess, i forgot about moving ships.

    but thats what this is all about, beta testing an idea before taking any really action, easier to correct ideas on paper then it is to sift through lines of code.

     

    i also completely agree with @Alex Lazesc, it does need to have more then 2 towns, so that players have to experiment with which routes will earn the most money per hour.

    theres also a good discusion over @captain-V idea of the signs ajusting there value based on supply and depmand, one day a trade route could earn loads then next you could make it there and find you cant earn anything there, bring us back to athens point of multiple towns.

    This is exactly what I said. However this idea of non-stackable items is really nice, even though it defeats the purpose of, the more you buy, the more you will sell, the more money you will make, so you can go back and buy twice the amount you bought the first time!

    However, that’s fixed because different goods have higher prices.

    But how about this:

    4. Town 2 sells items d, e, and f, for the same prices as Town 1 sold a, b, and c.

    5. You sell items d,e,and f, to Town 1 at $2, $15, $110.

    That way you could make a profit on the return journey too. 🙂

    Also, for the non-stackable + disappeared items, we have to make sure to name them so the system doesn’t get confused and deletes items that we have in game, that are not for trading. We also have to make sure the item’s can’t be used in game, so maybe they disappear when you click a crafting bench, an anvil, an enchanting table, brewing stand, /craft, etc. We also have to make sure that players can’t sell easily obtainable in-game look-alikes and try to fool the signs.

    I love this idea, and I know it’s possible to have non stackable/disappearable items because I’ve seen it on a different server!

    I have no clue about code, but maybe we can design a plugin that simply identifies that a player has these “trade items” in their inventory, and when a player types a /back, /home, /sethome, /top, /tpa, etc. the system deletes the items, and sends a message to tell the player something, “bla bla bla etc. etc. etc.”
