Unban Request

My name is Kinich. Before I continue my appeal, I urge all staff members who are reading this to carefully and patiently read through my appeal. I want to ensure that my words are being viewed correctly and truthfully. Thank you for your time.

Dear staff,
My username is _Kinich_ and I would like to request an unban for “racist comments towards staff”. I was banned at approximately 9:36 PM EDT, with the reason mentioned above.

Currently, I am muted in game. To vent my anger, I often type swear words and rude phrases into the chat. Every time I type something while muted, the chat responds with “You have been muted by [playerName] for [x] weeks [x] days [x] hours [x] minutes for [reason]” and does not send out my message. This shows that:

1. My message is not visible by myself after being sent, and

2. Because of the previous point, I assume that no player is able to see my messages.

I want to appeal for my ban because I was completely unaware that staff members were watching my messages while I was muted. Imagine this: someone is very angry that they can’t speak in chat so they type “Fck you!!! N**!!! I hate you!!!” (Sorry for implying swearing, I’m just trying to give an example) and press ‘Enter’. What follows up is a message saying that “You have been muted by DrBipper for 2 weeks 4 days 5 hours 3 minutes “ (not exact time, just giving example).

Now, receiving a message about me being muted and then not sending my message to the chat for others to see is normal. What is not understandable is that I get booted to the creative server and banned after 10 seconds.

I received a message saying that I was banned for “Racist comments towards staff”.
Before continuing, I would like to review some key points here.

1. They were racist comments, so I am very sorry for typing them, but as mentioned before, I was venting my anger, which leads to my second point:

2. They were not towards the staff. If I was unaware that they were being sent to players, how could you expect me to know there’s someone watching my messages?

3. Defined by Oxford, one of the definitions of muted is “of a television, computer, etc. with the sound turned off”. This shows that if something is muted, most likely nobody will be able to hear it. Which brings me to the next point:

4. If the players don’t see my messages, how would I imply that the staff would? No one told me that the staff could see my messages while I was muted. Furthermore, it shows that it would have been impossible for me to target staff members because I clearly didn’t know that they were seeing my messages.

After all of these points, I urge staff members to please sincerely consider my unban request. It was very inappropriate, I agree, but don’t we all sometimes do bad things when no one’s looking? Well, in my case, I was unaware that anyone was looking.

Because of this, I hope you will consider my appeal. Please make sure you understand everything that I’m trying to say. Feel free to read all of it again. I want to make sure that all the staff members understood my true intentions and what I’m trying to express here.

I have played countless hours on this server, taking my time out day and night. I currently have a big ship building project and I would like to continue working on it. I am sorry to those who got offended by my actions, but it was not fair to ban me because I could have never known that someone was seeing my messages.
