Temporary opapple nerf

We’ve all had that moment. Your fighting someone and just as they run out of healing pots your going in for the finishing combo aaaand they gapple. Which makes the fight drag on forever. Or you don’t have any grapples and lose. As everyone knows grapples are insanely overpowered which is why they are getting a big fat nerf in 1.9. But for some of us that is too long of a wait. So I would like to ask for one of the following things to happen starting with the most extreme changes to the least

1: disabling gapple all together; this would make pvp completely based on true skill and not who hits their opponent more or who has more gear. Which would in my opinion be the best. But that makes gapple useless. Which is tons of money dows the drain for some people. so I hope this one isn’t picked

2: add a timer on gapples; this one would make gapples a “oh no I’m out of pots better use my last resort” kind of item. Make the cooldown anything from 3 to 10 minutes depending on what seems fair. Anything above 10 is excessive. This one I think would work best

3: nerfing gapples; this one would be the least effective and hardest to implement into the server. If we really had to do this I would say nerf the regen as that’s what makes an opapple… Op

feel free to leave an opinion on this as i would like to see what people think. Also I would like to see a server poll if we could have that. Such as this for the votes

a: remove gapples entirely! Everyone hates them!

b: add a timer on gapples! Make them a last resort item!

c: nerf gapples with plugins! Make it so we can’t be invincible!

d: don’t nerf gapples! I like being invincible!

you are basically complaining because you don’t know how to get around gapples and they are getting removed in 1.9 so I dont think this forum is really needed

2 things I would like to say before leaving this post alone. It was a suggestion so name_change please stop with the ridiculing for me having an idea. And it wasn’t just me I asked some people if I should do it and they said yeah. Secondly I wouldn’t know how we could do this on the server. And as this was a suggestion and merely an idea that I hope people would add on to. I did not intend for this to be a fully thought out plan so I’ll leave this in the hands on of other people. I just wanted this idea out for everyone to see.

p.s name_change there is no way to “get around gapples” besides having EVEN MORE GAPPLES/armor. Not very well thought out of a comment i would say. Hence why I made this whole idea in the first place :I

Alli I dont know where you think “skill” comes from the current pvp meta. Managing to break down someones armor by being able to consistently hit them during a fight is the only current measure of “skill” in pvp. By removing gaps you are not making fighting increasingly skillful you are intern doing nothing as the server has custom brews that mimics the effects of a gap. There IS a way to get around gapples, and that is breaking someones armor before they can regap. Although the current state of pvp is not where we all want it there is still a skill barrier between properly gapple fighting and just munching. If you cant discern that difference than that isnt because of over powered gaps.

Also Ali there is a huge benefit to having knock-back on your sword and punch on your bow. Use your pots, and push people away who gap. You can also e pearl away as soon as they gap. They last 30 seconds. If you are properly potted, running in the opposite direction is a good way to keep your distance and make people waste their resources…. Gaps are OP however when you consider their cost it puts the benefits into perspective. Gold is becoming harder to obtain and increasing the prices of gaps. Go out and piss a few gapple munchers off by attacking and running. (I for one would be impressed to see more people do this)

Mate, if there getting nerfed in 1.9 & your moaning about it in PirateCraft because you have the inability to wait just shows how damn selfish you are.

The mods are hard at work all the time trying to make sure PirateCraft runs smoothly & coexists well with actual Minecraft, they may see some possible ‘need’ in nerfing god apples, but mate, they don’t have the time to.

So if I were you, avoid pvp & wait for the update you know will get this ‘problem’ you want fixed.

Ok than I think you guys are right. This gapple nerf is not needed. I’ll leave this up to godsdead for now. Thanks for your opinion on this.
