[RANK]
I was looking at the ranks for a while: and then it struck me; the ranks seemed to be modeled after ranks in ye olde British Navy (right? xD ) and I was just thinking that we were missing a rank.
Ensign
Highest Rank Available (Hopefully)
Requirements:
1 Boatswain Rank
60 days played
Build 5 cannons*
Fire cannons 30 times*
Kill 200 players
Place 200000 blocks
Break 200000 blocks
Gain 120 exp levels (Good Luck 😛 )
Result:
Idk yet; but it should be good. Maybe a named sword: “Ensign’s Sabre” with a decent enchant. (I.E.- Sharp III Iron?)[This is not the kit that you get by doing /kit ensign, just the reward]
Permissions and Commands
Inherits perms & Commands from all past ranks
Receives /kit ensign
Grey Username with a (Idk what color *: maybe we should vote on it?)
4 sethomes
Ensign Kit (Suggestions Appreciated?) [ Extremely Long Timer for the Rewards I Suggest ]
3 black wool 2 stone buttons 1 torch Iron Chestplate with Proj. Prot. I (Named Ensign Jacket) and 3 cooked pork

October 29, 2014 at 7:09 pm #5292Some Explanations of My Thinking
I was thinking that once we get to the higher ranks; we should have multiple ship types available to each rank: but they must choose whether they want to go down a “Maneuverability” “Strength” or “Cargo” tree. Each tree has it’s own type of ships; unique to its own category; i.e. firepower, speed, or size. This adds a more personalized aspect to the ships; and it will help with further advancing the “pirate, trader, explorer, etc. ” RP aspects of the game. Since this is Ensign: and we should expect some naval warfare; all the ships in this class; besides the Tree specs. is suit for combat. But which combat and tactics you use is up to the Tree and Ship you use.
To do this; maybe when you get Ensign you get access to /warp choose; where three signs are set up. Each sign is to select a tree “Maneuverability, Strength, Cargo” and it would select the tree you want to go to. This would perhaps change the color of your little “*” to indicate which tree you chose as Ensign. The only thing that might be difficult is that when you right-click the sign: it auto ranks you to “Ensign” but gives you the perms to the ship of the tree you choose. Idk if this is possible: I sure hope it is. Maybe we can adapt this at a lower rank: like Gunner; and you branch off from there?
I.E. Clicking the “Firepower” sign would change your perms to everything with Ensign rank; but you would get the perms to ship “X” While if someone clicked the “Cargo” sing they would get perms to operate ship “Y”
I really don’t know if this is possible and it’s just my speculations; it’d be cool if this were possible though.
*Need better name for the “Cargo” ship tree besides Cargo. Suggestions?”

October 29, 2014 at 7:36 pm #5293[SHIP]
I’m just going to go ahead and do the ship available to Ensigns.
(If you guys are considering the above mentioned Ship Tree’s: this would fall into the “Firepower” Tree.
For “Maneuverability”- Clipper ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clipper )
For “Cargo” – Fluyt. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluyt )
Above ship types could be for more ranks; maybe for in between other ranks; (Between say, Sailor/Carpenter )
Ship of the Line
A ship of the line was a type of naval warship constructed from the 17th through to the mid-19th century to take part in great naval battles. Commonly used with the naval tactic; the line of battle. Usually two decks armed to the brim with cannons for broadsides with varying numbers of masts with square rigs.
- Cruise Allowed, Skips 4 Blocks
- Minimum Size 1400 blocks
- Maximum Size 1800 blocks
- Speed: 7.0 (Man o War’s were much heavier; however the Ship of the Line weighed more then the Galleon)
- 25% wood and 15% Wool (Sails) needed
- Sink Percent: 65% of the Required Blocks
- Works at Min-height: 61 to Max-height: 63.

October 30, 2014 at 12:45 pm #5301More potential ideas for rank names: Sea artist (navigator), Quartermaster……
October 30, 2014 at 4:23 pm #5302I think these are quite good ideas, especially the ship trees. But I would modify this a little bit. It would be a nice thing to have an official possibility of creating your own fleet, above some rank of course(gunner would be fine I think, or maybe a new rank – Admiral?). In my imagination it looks pretty much like that: I just ranked up, I’m a gunner/admiral/some great rank and before I was just sailing random ships, depending on which I needed at a particular moment. Now, I CAN execute a new command, which takes some of my money and THEN asks me which ship tree I want to use in my future fleet. Then, when I chose the ship tree, it FORMALLY creates me a fleet. Formally because it doesn’t build any ships, it just sets some player-variables’ values. And depending on these values, I can use a ship class which is special to the ship tree of my fleet and I can’t use the special ship types from other ship trees. There could also be some unique perks for each ship tree fleet’s members(there would be also a possibility to join someone’s fleet before ranking up to that rank). There would be a possibility to change the ship-tree of the fleet, rename it or else but it would cost another bunch of money and have a big cooldown. Of course when you rank up to that rank, you DON’T HAVE TO create a fleet, but if you do it, it just gets you a new special ship type, some perks, finally a formal possibility to create player groups, like you can invite other players to your fleet, promote certain members to higher fleet ranks and such.
I think my description of this fleet system isn’t even confusing. I’m not a Java programist and I don’t think there is any among us(sorry if there is 😛 ), however I know a great plugin used to customize minecraft servers without knowing how to code. It’s called Skript. You can check it out on the bukkit forums if you are more interested in it. Basically what it does, is it allows you to write “scripts” which work as plugins and their syntax is more or less just the english language(of course its possibilities are limited mostly just by the syntax so it’s always better to be a plugin developer, then there’s almost nothing you can’t program if it’s in the game, but oh well, we don’t know Java so we have a nice substitution here). I’ve been messing around with Skript and writing even complex scripts since about half a year so I would know how to write a script based on this idea, I would just have to know how to detect when a player ranks up to the certain rank.
I hope that everything in this post is understandable. Sorry for any language mistakes, but nobody is perfect 🙂
October 30, 2014 at 7:04 pm #5304I think a newm Higher rank is something to consider soon, we are onlyjust getting our first few Boatswains through at the moment though,
Gods would be the one to talk to about the changing of routes per rank etc, i can see that creating issues, and possibly openeing up more loopholes for people to game items,(it happens no matter how new or old the player).
As a whole i like the idea of new ranks, i guess me and tom need to have a good talk when he gets back from hokliday, we have alot of plans in the working that we have decided not to release to the public yet, but hopefully y’all will be pleasantly suprised!
October 30, 2014 at 7:11 pm #5305Thanks for helping explain the tree choosing process: but I don’t understand what you mean by choosing a tree it creates a “fleet”. I was just thinking that choosing the ship type will give you perms to build only certain types of ships; and maybe you’ll have to pay money to go through the other ship trees. Also: each ship tree will have diff *. So if you rank up to Ensign and choose Cargo, you get a green *, to show you chose Cargo. Then, after going through the ranks of the tree Cargo and getting perms to build cargo ships, you can spend money to get access to, say, Maneuverability, and you get a blue * in front of your green *.
This ship tree type thing is complicated; but with a little thought I think we could make this work. If not: at least consider adding the “Ensign” rank that gets you perms to build/steal the “Ship of the Line”
* I just realized that with the trees; getting access to only one kind of ship to build/drive means that you can’t steal the ship from other classes. However to counter this: you just have to go through the other trees to get perms to the other ships.
[ A donator option can be too buy the ranks in the tree; instead of having to work for them: because they would ( should ) be extremely hard. ]

October 30, 2014 at 7:13 pm #5306@Jon I remember talking to Gods about this way back when but we both kind of forgot about it… and now I’m all excited about what you guys are secretly cooking up! xD

October 30, 2014 at 7:57 pm #5307@Alex Lazescu
By “fleet” I didn’t mean a ship group, but kind of “what aspect does the player want his future ships to be focused on”. So for example, if the player creates his fleet and chooses its ship tree, that means this fleet’s members can build and pilot all the basic ship types(of course they must have sufficient rank), but they can also build and pilot that type which is special, unique to this fleet’s ship tree. But they can’t build or pilot that types of ships which are special, unique to other ship trees. And normal players who aren’t in any fleet can’t build or pilot any type of ship which is special, unique to any ship tree.
So in other words, I mean you need to be in a fleet to access this/these ship/ships that is/are special, unique to this fleet’s ship tree.
And this is the main part of my opinion about your idea.
October 30, 2014 at 9:47 pm #5309I know what your saying: one guy gets the rank, chooses a ship tree, creates a fleet, then all the members in the fleet get to use the special ships. This defeats the idea of each player having to work in the skill tree to get the skill tree ranks *Kinda like Prestige* to then access the ships. The idea of the skill tree is for each solitary player to work to get the ships that they want; and every single player has to work for it; they can’t rely on their “fleet” leader to unlock the ships for them; they have to do it themselves.
