I want to start by saying that I understand the Ships and Cannons on the server have been carefully and thoroughly adjusted and fine tuned by staff and player suggestions, and that it is what first attracted me to the server!
However, its a shame to see how underused ships are given the time that has been dedicated to improving and streamlining their use. Fundamentally, I think that people are too afraid of losing their amazing ship builds to a few cluster bomb hits, particularly from an stone brick fort impervious to any retaliatory fire.
I know this may be unpopular and would require testing but I would like to see cluster bombs nerfed or entirely removed. I’ll try and convince you below! 😛
- With only cobble cannons, ships will sustain much lower damage reducing fear of loss by ship owners.
- Lower damage means longer lifespans for ships, allowing for longer more strategic battles!
- Reduces the imbalance of fort vs ship warfare (with longer to return fire ships can target crews within forts or use the time to make a speedy retreat!)
- Decreased cannon damage will also make installing more guns critical to the military capabilities of your vessel as a few volleys from a single cannon will no longer be able to sink a ship.
- While cluster bombs have use via single cannons for anti personal use however, this is easily replaced by melon shot.
- In contrast, it will be sad to lose the terraforming capabilities of a cluster bomb!
I’m sure I haven’t considered every eventuality so I look forward to hearing your response and hopefully being able to take my ship out for some good old fashioned piracy! 🙂

While I would love to see ship vs ship warfare…I don’t think deleting cluster bombs will help.

June 22, 2016 at 1:24 am #36401Also, just avoid forts if your worried about cannon fire from them. It’s that simple. Being a pro ship user as well, I can understand your intentions, but as Jammin said, nerfing the cluster bomb has already been done and that hasn’t increased ship movement. The real fear is fire spread but there has yet been a suggestion that would effectively solve the issue without hindering land based game play as well. It’s up to the community to use ships more at this point. So I say we build’em, sail’em, and sink’em. They are great support for ground battles and most people aren’t ready to use their cannons when they see a ship if they even have any. Just use em’ and have fun!
June 22, 2016 at 2:23 am #36402@Browe_ Clusterbombs are not the problem people easily catching up with the ships and burning, easily and cheaply ender pearl on to the boat and kill everyone, blow up the boat, or steal the boat.

June 22, 2016 at 1:18 pm #36408yea the best way to fix this is to somehow delete every fire-starting weapon in the game, or keep shooting ppl with a punch bow to get them away from ur boat XD

FEBRUARY 6th 2016 – NERFED THE CLUSTER-BOMB
Secondly, none of this is cannon related. We have discussed this many times, there are at least 10 threads about “How to fix ships” every one of them is wrong.
The entire issue is teleporting, as I have said on every one of these other threads, I have a solution, as I have stated 100 times throughout the forums to get ships used. I will not repeat myself again and again.
