I uploaded a backup to the server at 8.30am this morning, Reaper alerted me, but I didn’t get the message until I woke up!
The cause of this is the same problem that wiped out claims before, this is the fourth time our host has wiped out data, so infuriating!

Damn good thing I moved claims to a different storage system, going to download the logs and have a look over events form last night, did this happen a few minutes before you posted this forum thread? Thread states 10.35pm.

Yeah its a pain, I have to babysit the server constantly, I can’t just leave it, problem after problem arises.

There’s a few problems changing hosts, Its a big, big effort to move. All existing members that have used the IP will not be able to connect, so we loose the existing player base, everywhere I have advertised on the internet needs to be updated, I need to contact my hosting company to open firewalls to get my status scripts working (Ive done this 4 times now).

Uploading and downloading a world can corrupt it, since there’s so much data, and minecraft is fickle.

Hosts are very hard to find that have good customer service, know what there doing, have a working web UI, Uptime, Are not too expensive, Don’t lag etc.

This is PirateCrafts third host, The host actually performs better than our previous one, but its hard to test a server unless its in a live environment for weeks to see what kind of new problems appear.

I have been told 3 times now that this Space Error will be fixed.
As for downtime, I just noticed that my uptime checker has been turned off! So I haven’t been getting messages when the server goes down! Although I have noticed the servers been down twice this week alone, unknown circumstances that I have had to manually start the server again, loading with no problems.

Ill update the pingdom uptime tracker, we can look for new hosts, the problem is 95% of these minecraft hosting services are run by children that have no idea what there doing.

It should just stay up the whole time, it restars every few hours to keep thigns running top notch, thats it, unless you manage to catch it at a restart every time haha!

I do check daily for downtime, I now get an SMS when the servers down for longer than 10 mins, I thought it was setup, but i forgot to update to the new servers ip! Derp.
I have eliminated any problems with plugins, so downtime is completely on the host.

At present we are still a very small server, We need to find ways to get new players on!
