September 3, 2017 at 1:36 pm #53133Right, I do see your point but, why do we have to make life easier for the players? Even if they wouldn’t like the pearl cooldown it’d revive pvp. Let me explain. Nowadays on PirateCraft PvP is completely dead, if we had a pearl cooldown people would actually consider to fight back instead of just pearl spamming and teleporting to cove.
Make it easier? Im not changing anything? So how are we making anything easier?
I can add a poll in-game if we should add a cooldown to end pearls.
Edit: created one. /poll results pearl in game 🙂 Every single person that logs on will get asked to vote on it. Within a few days well have hundreds of votes.
September 3, 2017 at 9:52 pm #53156The server’s PvP mechanics haven’t changed much in the last few years. I think any decline in PvP is due to changes in peoples behaviour.

That is very interesting Volpex. Maybe you could write up a quick tutorial to show new players how to get form zero to god gear production in 2 hours. That would certainly be very helpful to them and many experienced players alike. Thanks.
@oktacraft how long do you think it was till i had my first set :I (like an hour and 45 minutes)

How can you go from newbie to god armour in that time?
September 5, 2017 at 10:09 pm #532321 full set of plain diamond armour = 24 diamonds. Average time to mine that ammount of diamonds with an iron pick: 30 minutes at most. level 30 enchantment table and boom. Since 1.9 enchanting is easier, requires less xp and the chance to get Protection IV is higher than it used to be

September 6, 2017 at 2:27 am #53239It’s also really really easy on here to bait a vet player into a pvp fight as a newer guy talking trash to them. If you’re smart you can quick drop god gear fairly easily with pots or cannons

April 12, 2018 at 11:44 pm #57552I saw someone saying we should have a pearl cooldown earlier today so I necro’d this post, we’ve already had a poll in-game, these were the results:
Should we add a cooldown to Ender Pearls use?
107 No. Keep it without a cooldown for use.
51 Yes. Add a cooldown of 1 second before the next use.
24 Yes. Add a cooldown of 2 Seconds before next use.
39 Yes. Add a cooldown of 3+ seconds before next use.114 = yes, 107 = No. So its pretty much a clean split in the community, Brexit of results.
If we were to trial it to see how annoying it is, it would be 1 second cooldown, But we have the results, I know its split, I’m not a fan of it really but then again i’m not the one doing PvP, good to escape, good to chase, I think its just annoying to have a cooldown, don’t want people to escape? Then use pearls to catch them up, one of you will run out of pearls before the other.

I would say that is counter intuitive there.
Every time people bring these sort of arguments up about changing gameplay massively, it is often in the favour of their own playstyle’s, and can somewhat disregard another playstyle in the playerbase.
Although, I do see your point, victory in sight and then poof, your quarry is gone and all your hard work and time at getting them down to those last pixelated hearts and they remove that opportunity of you conquering them.
However these sort of events happen in long winded PVP fights, that are taking at the least 3 minutes to finish from the videos I have seen, when two OP Miniature Jaegers smash themselves together like action figures and either end in one making a mistake and dying or the other one as you have said, ‘ender pearling’ away and logging or teleporting.
However, I would propose that the longer the battle takes or how many times your combat tagged, the longer the ender pearl cooldown gets and gradually you find yourself in a battle of skill and preparation, rather than instant teleport. Not only would these battles be shorter, but would also mean people would be more likely to fight more in groups, as the more you are tagged, the harder it is for you to ‘ender pearl’ away to safety, giving groups a strategic advantage- although this could see the unprecedented rise of more ‘harassment’ stories or bullying on the forums- I don’t know.
I for one wouldn’t mind that, its not like I carry around important gear anyway in game- neither do I carry enderpearls often (probably shouldn’t have said that but heyho), but I would like to see these battles take place, with people knowing that if they focus on lets say one player in one of these groups, they can take each one out at a time, and if another one in said team wants to escape, they can then be labelled a coward or whatever, although it could be a ‘strategic’ retreat. Either way, just a proposition.
I wouldn’t mind seeing blocks like that added as it would make perfect sense, though builders may like it less as it means they could be more easily griefed, to which we would have to then add in the policing duty of common sense and having siegers only destroy what is blocking their path to something which is worth something, rather than just ruining someone else’s hardwork for the sake of it.
My take anyway.

First there still is alot of pvp. I get killed in pvp all the time. And there is planed pvp and I have never seen ANYONE run away from pvp unless they are completely out matched

April 19, 2018 at 12:21 pm #57622I think what a lot of people don’t understand is that we do try and keep game mechanics as similar to Vanilla as we can, so anyone that joins knows what to expect an they don’t have to learn all the custom servers PvP, so anything people recommend need to keep to vanilla mechanics as possible, so things like pearl cooldown are completely fine and im happy to re-test this, we did have pearl cooldowns before, but we decided that they were just an inconvenience to players. I am happy to add it again for a test, but things like this cannot be bundled with a bunch of other changes or else its hard to diagnose issues, we test 1 thing at a time so we can see if it works or not.
