I agree, there are a lot of potential downsides and the player base would tear it apart. Beyond severely reducing the usability of shops, it would also remove a lot of incentive for people to purchase Captain. Personally, i buy captain primarily for the teleport perks, which would be eliminated under that kind of system thereby reducing the servers income. Still a fun concept.

January 2, 2022 at 4:19 pm #78239That is indeed correct, it would make teleporting like that awful, However, with slight changes (I.E no teleporting with weapons, explosives, armour items in bulk etc etc) it could work if given some thought and work into it
For example making a big port for traders at the shops
Making certain help for non official stores like better claims, or something that makes pvp disabled in a region.
basically helping the community be a little bit less reliant on the filthy rich and actually having some kind of goal with ships and stuff other than-“hey I heard you can buy rly cheap wood at /shop 7”
“Really? Lemme go there real quick and sell it at the opposite end of the world in like 3 minutes because i have a tp there”
See, if any mods, admins, helpers, etc etc are reading this then I just want to say that this would give quite a big meaning to the word “pirate” Cause, well…. unless you really put lots of interest in it theres not much to do that fits the point and meaning of piratecraft, sure, you can raid ships and do stuff like that but that is rare, FORCING people to go on ships would result in a lot more of the cool and unique features of PC to be used.

January 2, 2022 at 10:17 pm #78243This is for staff, I dont know if it will still remain in the new update but pmc has a bug with cauldrons that stepping inside makes you glitch and hard to get out, leading to be kicked and having to wait 10 secs to rejoin again. Annoying for brewing for me

January 3, 2022 at 11:50 am #78245The idea of teleporting with no items is nice but seems a bit far fetched, so what if you had a maximum amount of items you can teleport with (say, your hotbar as an example) and if somebody has too many items then have a message appear in chat saying, “that’s too much luggage to be carrying around without your ship, matey” because after all, this is a pirate themed minecraft server with little relevance to pirates at all.
However, I think having a maximum distance you can teleport would be nicer and maybe even teleport-less zones. You can expand on this idea and have certain limits per rank, maybe a longer or a shorter range as you go up the ranks, but do bear in mind that you want people to rank up.
January 3, 2022 at 11:58 am #78246Or we just keep it as it is since being able to teleport everywhere and at anytime or distance makes you safe a TON of time. Also it’s very annoying in my opinion.. I tested it on other servers.

January 3, 2022 at 9:47 pm #78247As much as I’d love to see more sailing, I also agree banning teleports or heavily regulating (IE item limits) would have tons of backlash, and personally I disagree with said option. However, perhaps we could have a small fee for teleporting to the server itself? (Warps should be free still) So like if you wanted to teleport to someone, maybe a $5 fee, as long as it was say 200+ blocks away. Small, yes; but maybe just enough to encourage some sailing to save some money, as the small incentive would still make teleporting viable, but just slightly less viable?
Should we make a different thread on teleporting?
January 3, 2022 at 10:25 pm #78248A new thread on TP restrictions or a lack thereof might be good so we don’t clog up this thread, though without buy in from the higher powers this is all purely hypothetical. I never expected to get this much thoughtful conversation out of it to be honest, I expected all captains to try and shut it down entirely since teleport perks are one of the main benefits of cap
January 3, 2022 at 11:55 pm #78249None of these ideas are new, there is already a no teleport thread from 2015 that I stared and I solved it with how we would do it, please continue your no teleport ideas in there!
This is not the time or place to be talking about an entirely new server, I’m updating with what has been working.
Ive had a plan for the last 7 years how I would do this and it’s all planned and already explained in old thread’s, but I’m yet to catch a break in 7 years to have time to build a second no teleport server with how I’ve deisnged it, as we’re constantly having things happen on the main server and itself got infinite suggestions and improvements to make, let alone even get updated!
The plan is to do no tp as its own seperate new server so we can reset it and change drastic settings on the fly without disrupting the current working solid version of PirateCraft.
V1 of PirateCraft was no teleport, we have already done this before so I know the shortcomings.
Closing this 1.17/1.18 thread as as you are all off topic.
