1.11 Check-list
- Added 1.11 Protocol hack to allow 1.11 clients to connect to 1.10
- Waiting on Server software to be released
Well that crept up fast! 1.11 is out!
We already have an active 1.11 discussion thread http://piratemc.com/topic/minecraft-1-11-discussion/ to talk about 1.11.
Now when is PirateCraft moving to 1.11? Simple answer is when 1.11 is tested to make sure everything works fine, I do this by running the 1.11 on our test server, now at present there isn’t a 1.11 Spigot (The server files) out, so were waiting on the server software to be released first, we need to let a few servers run this to catch the first set of bugs which always happens, and then we see what plugins break and what needs fixing.
Now what I have done before in the past is use a protocol hack, this allows 1.11 clients to connect to 1.10, this plugin is already out and updated, so I think I may stick with this until the server files and plugins have been updated and our test server is free.
So to clarify, the protocol hack, allows 1.11 clients to connect to a 1.10 server, which means the 1.11 features wont be active until everything is updated, this allows players that auto allow their clients to update to connect without having to downgrade, how does that sound until everything is ready? Beats being stuck on 1.10 and only allowing 1.10 clients to connect for now. From the years and years experience I have running PirateCraft, I can tell you it’ll be a few weeks at least until 1.11 is ready to test; we don’t want to run early builds as these always have bugs in, some that could break gameplay, crash the server, or you could loose things.

PIRATE MAPS! (Its like they made this for us!) Yarr!
November 15, 2016 at 10:01 pm #434111.8 going on to 1.9 was so funny because we had no protocol hack and there was a new forum every 3 minutes saying “I CANT JOIN AHAHJFJDJFJJSSKSKKA”
Ironic

November 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm #43479A brief moment of silence for those of us who must update Optifine, and a much longer moment of silence for me, who’s laptop moans when downloading anything larger than a JPEG file.
