I have a few ideas for weapons that could be implemented.
-First and foremost, the flintlock pistol. Each time it is fired it will remove from your inventory 1 gunpowder, and 1 of whatever the “Shot” is chosen to be (Maybe iron ingots or flint), and will fly straighter but do slightly less damage than an arrow.
-Second is the Stinkpot. The stench this weapon created was so powerful men would often hurl themselves into the sea to escape it. It would be crafted with rotten flesh in the middle of the GUI, an iron ingot on each side and directly below it, and string on top of it as a fuse. When rightclicked, it would throw a splash potion of nausea, which is only available through commands. The Stink Pot could keep the pistol from becoming to OP by making it harder to aim.
Third and final is the grappling rope. It would be loaded into a cannon, and when it hits a ship, pull it a block closer. This would make it easier to board ships so you can fight the crew and steal the cargo like real pirates. It would have a quite limited range to keep it from becoming too op.

Here’s one I would like to add.
The Springfield Rifle, can be crafted by 3 stick diagonally upwards, and iron around it filling the other squares.
Hi
August 4, 2015 at 10:05 pm #19035I’m working on these ideas with the staff, the kinks haven’t yet been ironed out, as such an idea does effect the economy, pvp, and all other aspects of the server.
Well, some of them. We’ve held polls on grappling hooks in the past, and it was a no no.

Were these grappling hooks in the past to be fired or thrown from the hand for swinging from or ascending cliffs/mountains or just ropes for pulling ships in to board? I agree with the swinging/climbing grappling hooks being a bad idea.

I Personally think a blunderbuss would be better than a rifle or a musket. Each time it is fired it would fire 3 projectiles that do a small amount of damage each and drop quickly, so it is only effective at close range. Each firing would consume 2 gunpowder and maybe gravel or melon seeds. But I’m not sure any kind of long gun needs to be implemented. Also, may I ask why not the grappling rope?

As far as I’m aware, making hooks to pull ships in would be impossible using existing game mechanics, and would cause many problems. The idea proposed was to enable people to scale walls, and the community overwhelming voted no.
