Right guys, our opening of the new server is only getting closer.
While we are building a nice fresh spawn, ironing out the creases in our config files,re-arranging the rank system, trying to get a statistic ui for the forum, and testing all of the appropriate plugins that we run for faults and correct perms.
what i want to know, is what sort of things do you want from your server?
i dont just mean plugins, but rules, perks etc.
what can youc ome up with?
so far we have…
a few rules
1) No spamming advertising or irritating messages in chat
2) No rudeness towards ANYONE
3)No building walls around other people’s claims, it’s a sad pathetic method, no one’s impressed.
4)Be sensible about raging,ITS A PIRATE SERVER! YOU WILL BE KILLED AND ROBBEDGAMEPLAY IDEAS…
Towns that are built by crews or individuals, spread around the map, once they reach a good standard, they are allowed to have things like PVP arenas etc, or shops added to them.
carry on with a build of the month style thing, but not have the pressure of deadlines, just be rewarded for awesome builds occasionally?
run a lottery system, you buy into it, you have a chance of winning, you dont and you dont,

Obviously the moving ships plug to be bigger and faster than they currently are but for other stuff I guess my rules would be this
Rules:
1) No spamming advertising or irritating messages in chat
2) No rudeness or aggressiveness towards staff
3) No general douchebaggery-common sense guys
4) No blocks above chests…yeah I totally said that, I think that it’d be more interesting if the question was can you make your base impossible to get into? chests are meant to be unprotected so, no blocks above chests as a rule makes sense, the real quest is jumping walls and forts and moats and soldiers and shit to get in,
5) No building walls around other people’s claims, think that was already input, but still, it’s a sad pathetic method, no one’s impressed.
6) Be sensible about raging, I’m ok with people losing their head a little bit when they see that their diamonds have all gone, with a sign that says ”Shouldn’t have trusted Adzybaba” next to it, but spamming the chat with a bajillion I hate this griefer, and all that naff is just pathetic, focus on getting revenge, or letting it go, rather than giving people the satisfaction of seeing you go berserkPerks I can’t think much lolagio
I think that economy definitely needs a more prominent place so I was on a server where you’d gain money the longer you played there was a link there also I’ve been on one where you can do /sell hand for some dough, then we need some sort of shop for buying items, only accessible by sailing there, no warping, as well as this I think that the community buying loads of claim blocks and building their own towns with subdivisions of claims to make plots on these towns y’know, to get the economy going build towns with rentable houses or plots to build on,
Not only will that get our economy somewhere but this’ll actually look and seem like a pirate server rather than some simple minecraft server with a few pirate themed builds and you’re allowed to raid, actual medieval towns and stuff with siege these towns can be taken down raided plundered etc.I think no, or rather very limited, teleportation, this is if ship speed is improved, it’s a pirate server, But there’s no raiding on the seas if people are either whizzing past on their happy little speedboat or, teleporting, if we bump up larger ship speed to faster than the small boats by a little amount we can have some on sea chasing and raiding which reminds me of something
Rule 7) No claiming ships mid ship battle as a method of saving your ship from damage or raid
^Important cause that will be abused if the rule isn’t in place, I know I’d use it
So that’s all I can think of for now, I’ll probably come up with some new stuff for this but yeah so far I like my current ideas and hope you can somehow take a look and expand on them.

Rule 8) No claiming someone else’s ship mid battle to keep it, hahaJanuary 12, 2014 at 9:49 pm #1040ok so we were off to a good start, 1+2+3 are like you say, common sense.
Number 4 is daft, there is no limit to the way people can protect their chests, and there is no way to enforce thst rule about blocking chests, I for one will be doing it as I always have, siege me and you can get to the chests by breaking the blocks anywa, so shouldnt bwe an issue;)Again, 5 is something that will be dealt with if it happens, your right its daft, ruins the look fo the server and is childish, it a mature server, so there shouldnt be any kids on it anyway!
as with rule 1, rule 6 is the same.
rule 7 is not enforceable, and to top that, you cant create claims while in PVP anyway so shouldnt be an issue;), equally if its claimed before pvp, use /siege and you can destroy it anyway;)
I agree wiht the fact we need more economy, i should imagine we will have a simlar island to the cove on the new masp, it will again have a sign shop etc on, and will most likely have a warp point to it as it will have the donator room, and probably the end portal again.
The ships plugin will be rank permissable, so as you progress through the ranks, your ship size will too. the speed will probaly be adjust so it can outrun a normal boat, as otherwise they wouldnt be too effective!
i would like teleporting to be removed almost completely, but its too high of a demand to get people playing, it will however be limited if we can do it effectively.

Most nearly every server I’ve been on its absolutely terrible, full of holes, easy to game.
I would prefer not to have it until we have a solid plan for it.
I’ve written this a bunch of times in-game chat before but Ill re-literate.Making money needs to be limited so it can be easily tracked and policed, People can sell claims for money without needing to move or go anywhere, Selling items will be restricted to one item, wood; why wood? Because anybody can get wood, anybody can grow trees, but it takes some effort, the same amount of effort for everyone, It won’t need to be mined and the resource cannot run out, it cant be auto farmed, people wont use an xray system to find ores.
If we have four citys, each one could buy a specific log/wood type.
But what would people spend money on? and Where? We can’t have people setting up their own shops, as these could easily be gamed with two friends setting up shops and trading between the two to make an infinite amount of money.
People could buy claims, We could have a limited buying shop near spawn/cove for tools etc.

wood in its unmolestered form would become a token for currency,
At the cove/spawn or if we do continents each town centre, there will be a sign,clicking the sign will sell any blocks of wood you have in your hand at the time.
8 blocks of wood is worth $1, so not particulary valuable, a stack gets you $8Nearby to the sign could be a shop(server run) Items will be available, and will not be cheap to make the game easy, but have a value that makes them viable for selling.
having the shop, be it expensive or not, would be better than not having one/some.
would it be an option on the game to buy credits to spend in the shop? or are we to stay away from the pay to win features like this?
after all, only takes a good crew to siege them and they lose it all anyway so wont nccessarily give tyhem an upper hand!claims are worth alot of money, theres no way of easrning much as it is.
people could earn money by building and selling things, ships,houses etc, and using the real estate plugin.
equally people can trade items for wood, to cash in to spend in the shop etc.

January 16, 2014 at 4:41 pm #1076We could have an arena per city, as for world layout, I slapped this together using https://moqups.com, should have used PS the website was annoying.
So central location separate from spawn for a “cove” thats got shops etc, with a train station and paths to each of the cities, each city has a theme with its own color, Its own Icon (can be set via Dynmap) Its own 1 arena, etc etc.January 16, 2014 at 6:19 pm #1092these would need to be big arenas amongst huge towns/cities, our current world border wouldnt cater for this at all, the old size would though.
i love the idea of it, and its something i think crews could build, once they have built a town worthy of gaining its name, it can be blessed with a shop or an arena of their choice?

players can have their own towns, but don’t have plugins, they just trade with gold nuggets, for items, arenas can be anything that players want, as they can just build itJanuary 16, 2014 at 7:04 pm #1097we had a spleef arena on the old world, noone used it though:(
we can certainly look into another thoguht if people will use it.players have always been able to have their own towns, noone ever built one though, closest i ever got to that was a small island with a few houses on.
anyone can trade with anyone for anything, but a shop will be put somewhere, you can earn your items by mining or earanign the money for them then.
