So I log on and go outside my house when i see that the majority of my sheep are gone!(see attached photo) I had 1 of every color and it took me a while to get them in the first place. the sheep where completely claimed and everything! After that i play for a bit then check how many claimblocks ! have it it shows I have a negative amount! I don’t know whether or not these two things are connected or not.

November 26, 2014 at 3:47 pm #5966I’m missing chickens. I have plenty of eggs so it isn’t a concern, but this IS a widespread problem; at least with the animals despawning
November 26, 2014 at 3:53 pm #5967Help Godsy!
Last night I went to cut some wool from my heard of about 40 white sheep (indoor farm) and every one was gone. 🙁 I moved a few colored sheep into the pens dyed em white and started to breed them, got up to about a dozen and they disappeared again. I am having similar problems to a lesser degree with cows, chickens and pigs.
If animal populations totally crash before the glitch is fixed can you supply pairs of spawn eggs to reestablish populations plz?
Thanks,
Wog
November 26, 2014 at 4:15 pm #5968Could this have something to do with getting rid of animal AI? I remember seeing that being poste somewhere.
November 26, 2014 at 4:52 pm #5970This is due to recent optimizations for mega-farms.
I outlined some changes here: http://piratemc.com/topic/planned-maintenance-monday-evening/#post-5930
In general, here’s what I changed:
- I Added a plugin chunkspawnerlimiter to limit the amount of Mobs that are allowed per chunk, so for those people that had 500 chickens in one tiny hole, you were causing massive lag to the server, now times this by hundreds of players and you get unstable TPS, then lag, at the moment, im using the plugins default settings, which says: Animals:50, Monster:50, NPC: 50, other: 500, I have just seen the option to notify players in that chunk if stuff has been culled, I will turn that on.
Im assuming this is the main cause of destruction to farms. - I also updated bukkits settings to limit animals or mobs can spawn in a chunk, monsters are set to 60 from 70, animals are set to 13 from 15. But I cant see this having an affect since its always been on 15 since we started 2 years ago, and people have had thousands of animals in one plot.
- Changed frequency of mobs; Monsters used to spawn every tick of the server, which is insane, this is now every 13 ticks, So mob-farming may be slightly slower now.
Animals spawning naturally were on every 600 ticks!!! Which is also absolutely insane for a default, I moved this down to 300 ticks, so animals should be more common around the world now. - Greatly reduced “entity-activation-range” for animals and monsters, this may need to be changed, as it may effect gameplay.
Controls the range in blocks that entities will become “activated” – entities outside of this range will tick at a reduced rate to prevent server lag. When changed
- nerf-spawner-mobs is now on, This is another option I may need to revert, it was done as a test for lag/tps.
When enabled, mobs which originate from a mob spawner will not have any AI. They will generally only be affected by water movement, with the exception of blazes which will still emit fireballs and float up and down.
As for claims, that is based on something you have done in-game @captainvenoms for instance, if you had a claim transferred to you then you decided to abandon it, it will remove that claim block area from your claim block count.
I have have checked out my farms and reapers farms and neither of ours have been effected, I can only assume the farms that were had a great amount of entities in them!
But no fear, I will happily replenish farms and hand out dye for lost sheep, but you have to apply in this thread, to acknowledge the recent changes.
Now, please, please read through those changes, as only you as the players will be able to tell me how badly this effects gameplay, my entire optimization was to remove as much lag as I could.
November 26, 2014 at 10:01 pm #5974I have a concern about the mobs spawning less frequently as i now veeery rarely see mobs around the world.. maybe u could cut the timer down to something like 6-5 secs, so half of what you set it to. I think it will still have a good effect, even though i dont really mind having alot of monsters around. They can be annoying sometimes, but i think it adds more action.

November 26, 2014 at 10:14 pm #5975I also just checked my sheep pasture and i only have 5 sheeps plus a chicken which i really think is too little on that big of an area. I am actually a fan of the limited animals per square because its so unrealistic, but i would say realisticly that my pasture would be able to hold more animals than that. In my opinion the sliders might be bumped up to much, so maybe halve them as well as the mobs spawn rate.
Right now i think its an improvement, it is gonna be alot thougher getting wool (or just require alot more space), but thats okay. It could go up a bit though to allow more aniamls at the same spot yet still have great effect as i see it.

November 26, 2014 at 10:46 pm #5976November 28, 2014 at 3:22 am #6010@Tom Godsy I’m going to beg you to please set the monster spawn rate to a smaller amount of time… it takes absolutely forever now for me to gain xp 🙁 could you possibly lower it from 13 ticks to something like 5-8 ticks? Please? Thank you!

November 28, 2014 at 5:19 pm #6019Hi! Readed and understood!
This must be why i lost so many villagers in my village. Can you please recheck the 50 limit for NPCs if its really 50? only like 8 villagers survived from something like 30-40. No farms in that area.
Thanks for reading! Will check my other farm lol, they are a little far away from each other.
November 28, 2014 at 10:36 pm #6030@tom ok so, just to check; what is the limit. I know it’s 50 per chunk, but I and many others don’t know how big a chunk actually is.
Secondly; I had heard that nametagging an animal makes it not count as an animal itself but rather a random mob (included in the 500 amount posted above). I don’t ask this as a workaround for creating more lag; but rather for things like a horse stable where I am frequently breeding expensive animals and expecting them to not despawn. Just having 1-2 of every coat type of horse, and a few donkeys/mules, several horses despawned when this update was made, even though my stables is pretty large.
Lastly there are some spots in which there were less than 50 animals, but despite that many were despawned. Like if someone has 20 sheep, and comes back and there is only 3; in an area where that is the only animal farm for a good while. I’m not sure why this is happening, but perhaps looking into that would be a good idea.
I know that mass animals makes server lag (and for the most part I only lost chickens which I have eggs to replenish, and horses which I’d really like back but I’m not sure how many were missing to begin with) but perhaps a sticky could be made somewhere about animal farms and their limitations so that we, and future players, can know what to work with?
November 29, 2014 at 1:07 pm #6047I think I might change my forum name back to GodsDead, I didnt get notified of people linking to @tom hence the no replies! Gotta use the username @GodsDead !
So sorry for the late responce.
First of all @bislo1 one tick happens every 0.05 seconds, so 13 ticks is 0.65 of a second.
Now, initially it looks as though the plugin has butcherd everything, this didnt set it to the limit, I think it started off aggressive, can you all please fill your farms back up (With my help if requested) and see what the limit is, It should be 50 of each animal, unless im not understanding the plugin correctly; I am yet to get a reply from the developers.
The reason for this is, people are creating un-natural farms. If people are cramming in hundreads of animals into one pen, its going to create lag.
Now chunk sizes are not that big, from the wiki;
They are 16 blocks wide, 16 blocks long, and 256 blocks deep
This also lists “how to find chunk edges” using F3.
I am still trying to work out how this plugin has worked, Since it didnt effect the farms at all that I looked at.
December 1, 2014 at 3:59 pm #6192For some weird and wonderful reason, which is clearly stated above, my horses have de-spawned, which is slightly annoying. So, instead oh making boring claims about how rare their speed stats were, I would instead just like 2, only 2, to repopulate. I can breed them again, its just that they don’t naturally spawn on my island, and are so hard to get, I am grateful for whatever I get. Thanks in advance, and I’m sorry, this couldn’t come at a worst time for you gods. THIS IS NOT URGENT. Do it when you want, I do not want to cause you anymore stress.
