Hello hello!
How are you all?
Basically, the staff team are considering releasing custom mobs (much like those found at the events) to the main survival world! How would you all feel about this?
This thread is basically to make suggestions for what sorts of custom mobs you would like to see on the server! You can suggest:
- What type the mob would be
- The name of the mob
- The skills/special attacks the mob would have
- The mob’s health, damage dealt, knockback resistance etc.
- And pretty much anything else you want… Except loot.
Loot will be left entirely for staff to decide, and any suggestions of loot here will be edited and/or removed.
Let’s also try and keep the suggestions as pirate-themed as possible, maties! Other than that, go wild! 😀

Can’t remember the mod, but there is one that spawns pirate ships with pirates on them. Maybe doing something like that – dotting a few dungeons around overworld survival or something with these sort of mobs in them might be interesting.
No idea about what they could do or names, sorry

January 11, 2018 at 12:41 am #55800Since there are two main playstyles on the server, being a pirate or being a part of an established nation, I think it’d be cool to have both kinds of mobs.
The pirates could either be united under one “crew”, i.e. they say lines like “Surrender to the Southern Pirates!”, or they could all supposed to be from their own crews and just have generic lines.
The established nation mobs could have a similar feel to the Blackmane mobs in the Christmas event, mostly spawning around a build of some sort and having lines about their little tribe.

January 11, 2018 at 2:22 am #55801(Rare) serpents that swim around the sea and melee attack players in random places.
One thing I like is that people cant really shoot arrows into the sea.
It would be nice if these serpents could destroy certain ships (and unclaimed structures?) with players in them.
How to kill: Im thinking cannons and melee attacks. This would promote the installment and use of cannons on ships!
Health: 400; Regeneration II Constantly
Damage: 18 hearts (naked) with Poison I for 00:05, Knocking you up
Speed: 5 blocks per second
(If this is too much, serpent man is always an option?)

Personal retainers/guards for hire using the Citizens plugin.
January 11, 2018 at 3:26 pm #55810I wouldn’t mind having the mobs tell part of a story, You spawn on a stranded shipwreck onto uncharted lands, where you have to go and survive.
- We could have groups of “bandits” or rebels, maybe small pockets of Pirates that were shipwrecked and have setup camp somewhere (May be better as NPC’s and have quests)
- A sea based mob, sharks, Guardian/Squid. Squids could be used as sharks and re-textured in the custom texture pack as sharks.
- Hostile mermaids/Sirens that pull you towards them and drown you, holding you underwater, could only be found around certain parts of the map.
- British/Spanish soldiers, could also be found on certain beaches with their ships not far from shore, maybe protecting some treasure on a beach? Could be a way to fight them for loot, these areas could be generated on a time basis so there not always accessible.

Have some custom mobs around shops, spawn, and tutorials – instead of putting signs everywhere, get the player to click/interact with a mob named ‘cannoneer’ and they explain how to use them. People don’t like signs, but people like custom mobs.
Mobs selling those limited/special items at cove such as elytras? rather than in chests? Not sure if the plugins would work with one another

good terminology there. (sorry for being an ass)
1. I like the idea of tutorial mobs, like a friendly parrot, that could help people when they enter the game and helps to guide them around the server. They could also be in different areas, like one at spawn, then he could have a ‘brother’/’sister’ somewhere else and she/he at spawn tells the player to go there so they can talk to them. You could also add some humour perhaps? You could have some parrots argue perhaps with each other, or you could have two parrots at one tutorial and they’re like twins and talk in turns, a drunk parrot perhaps at the brewery, who teaches you through (readable) slurring and perhaps the odd *hicc*.
It could be interesting just to see a whole new story perhaps eked out around these parrots, as well as them becoming perhaps a few of the ‘mascots’ of the server.
2. Sentient Wrecks? They don’t have to move, but it would be something interesting perhaps, it would be a perfect place to do missions/quests from and perhaps the perfect place for a wood shop as they use it sustain their rotting frame(?). They would also have like the sort of ‘old man’s face in the cliff’ sort of look at the front, only animation could be that they have eyes that light up to add a ‘pizazz’ factor.
You could set these up around the map perhaps, some you have to quest to and you could perhaps get rewards and whatever. They could also tell you their stories as well which could be interesting, and if you listen to all their stories you could get an achievement or something (and get another one each time you listen to another). They wouldn’t be mobs as such, but it might be something interesting.

January 12, 2018 at 12:38 am #55816Maybe, make a world (similar to the second temporary world) where dungeons are scattered with loot (loot that regenerates), and custom mobs spawn. PVP is active, but there is no livemap to that specific world. You need actually explore the world, instead of just using map coordinates.

January 16, 2018 at 3:48 pm #55840@Maximus you been to spawn! he does! He can say anything written in a book, so if you can think of something better ping me the book!
The idea for mobs, is specifically tutorials, taking it out of the files on the server to being books also means, players can write tutorials to help speed the process up!
I much prefer the idea of mobs selling the custom items at cove! we can save space too this way, we will have to redo the Elytra shop, or just move it somewhere new, we can also learn to do shops with them!
From a technical standpoint.
We have 3 types of Mobs we (will) be able to have.
- Currently Live and working, a custom looking dumb mob that can show you a book when you right click them, the book can have any of the custom click events, hover actions or whatever, this can be written in a normal book! http://minecraft.tools/en/book.php That can be used! you can save and edit from your desktop!
- This would be good for basic tutorials or baisc information mobs around tutorial areas instead of signs as a book is easier to read (Maybe).
- Two of these mobs exist at /spawn right now! so you can see how they work.
- Custom Mobs to fight, like from events, these are mobs that have special skills, shout abuse and have custom loot drops. (plugin not live)
- Shop keep based NPCs, Obvious what these are, sell custom items. (plugin not live)
January 20, 2018 at 5:07 pm #55870Maybe melee gaurdians that randomly spawn, and are buffed with a drop like gold or something. Or… EVIL MOOSHROOMS THAT YOU CAN TAME WITH CAKE WITH LASER PEWPEWS
