Vampires
Ancient powers have awoken in the PirateCraft world, a plague of darkness is spreading…
Pirates have been seeking greater power and strength to dominate their enemies through the use of Dark Altars, sacrifices have been made to contract the infectious disease known as the Dark Disease.
Those who embrace the Dark Disease are granted the powerful curse of the Vampire. Anyone can become a Vampire, but do you want to? During daytime vampires cower from sunlight. During the night humans reach for their holy water and wooden stakes as the vampires roam the lands with inhuman strength, speed, and levitation-powers. Driven by their endless bloodlust, they devour all living in their way.
Vampire Race
Once you turn into a vampire you will gain some additional abilities, but also some negatives!
Once turned into a Vampire will inherit the Vampire rank which displays a name tag above head and an icon in tab-list to show they have turned from the dark disease into a Vampire.
Positive abilities
- Take no damage from falling, drowning or starvation.
- Deal 25% more damage during close combat.
- Bloodlust Ability
- Used with /vampire bloodlust
- Bloodlust is the main vampire ability. During bloodlust, damage is increased by 15%.
- Vampires run with intense speed and jump incredibly high with increased air maneuvering. During bloodlust you will have Speed 3 and Jump 3.
- Vampires usually have a stationary food level but In bloodlust food level will drop over time. After one minute the vampire is too hungry/thirsty to use bloodlust.
- A vampire in bloodlust emits a smoke-trail while moving. Apart from being a nice effect it’s a way to distinguish vampires.
- Night vision Ability
- Night can be toggled on and off using the command /vampire nightvision. The night vision is free and does not consume food level. It works just like the potion effect but you don’t emit particles. This way others can’t see you are using night vision.
- Spreads the dark disease through combat and exchanging their own blood.
- Won’t be attacked by monsters unless the vampire attacks first.
- Stationary food level unless in bloodlust mode.
- Regenerate health quickly at the expense of food level.
Negative effects
- Take damage from sunlight.
- The Sun is the primary vampire disadvantage. When exposed to sunlight their body temperature will increase quickly. Vampires simply can’t stand sunlight.
- 20% Temp Nausea
- 30% Temp Nausea, Weakness
- 50% Temp Nausea, Weakness, Slow
- 80% Temp Nausea, Weakness, Slow, Blindness
- 90% Temp Nausea, Weakness, Slow, Blindness, Burn
- See their temperature and irradiation/exposure level at any time using the command /vampire show.
- In full cover the irradiation/exposure is -20 which means the vampire is cooling down.
- The time of day and if its raining are variables for how hot the sun is.
- Most blocks obscure light, but some let sunlight through and can heat you up!
- Each Armor worn offers some protection from the sun, The type of armor does not matter. This means armor never can block irradiation completely. It can however slow down the heat-up process.
- The Sun is the primary vampire disadvantage. When exposed to sunlight their body temperature will increase quickly. Vampires simply can’t stand sunlight.
- Extremely vulnerable to wood and holy water.
- Heal by killing mobs or players to drink their blood instead of eating food!
- Regen will not heal vampires.
Contracting and curing the Dark Disease.
Pirates become Vampires by contracting the Dark Disease, this can be done by building an Altar of Darkness. The Dark disease, once contracted will make you sicker and sicker until you finally turn into a vampire, this may take around 3 Minecraft days-night cycles, you can use /vampire show to track your sickness level.
You also risk infection if you accept a blood offer from a vampire or engage in close-combat with one.
Vampires may decide if they intend to infect during combat or not. For each attack (from either you or the vampire) the risk is 5% with intent and a 0.3% without /vampire intend.
To stop the disease, you can use an Altar of Light or holy water (Sparkling splash potion).
The disease will not reset if you log off or die. To cure fully infected vampire, you need to use an Altar of Light.
Build an Altar of Darkness
There is a working Altar of Darkness at /warp vampire that you can use and copy, the Altar does not need to be built in this exact design, it just requires the correct blocks! Blocks must be within 10 blocks of the Core Interactable block.
Materials
- Core Interactable Block 1x RESPAWN_ANCHOR
- 29x POLISHED_BLACKSTONE
- 24x POLISHED_BLACKSTONE_STAIRS
- 4x SOUL_CAMPFIRE
- 4x DIAMOND_BLOCK
Activate with offerings
- 10x Bone
- 10x Gunpowder
- 1x Mushroom Stew
- 10x Redstone Dust
Build an Altar of Light
There is a working Altar of Light at /warp vampire that you can use and copy, the Altar does not need to be built in this exact design, it just requires the correct blocks! Blocks must be within 10 blocks of the Core Intractable block.
- Core Interactable Block 1x BELL
- 25x CHISELED_QUARTZ_BLOCK
- 4x QUARTZ_PILLAR
- 24x QUARTZ_STAIRS
- 4x DIAMOND_BLOCK
- 4x SEA_LANTERN
Cure Dark Disease
Use the altar with no offerings to cure the Dark Disease for free, but to cure being a Vampire you will need to offer!
Cure yourself from being a vampire by offering
- 1x Water Bucket
- 1x Diamond
- 20x Wheat
- 20x Sugar
Vampire Hunting
You can use Wooden stakes and Holy Water to inflict increased damage to Vampires. Rely on these two tools to protect yourself when the sun goes down.
Wooden Stakes
Wooden stakes deal a damage multiplier to vampires.
- Stick
- Wooden Sword
- Wooden Pickaxe
- Wooden Shovel
- Wooden Hoe
- Wooden Axe
- Redstone Torch
- Soul Torch
- Torch
Holy Water
Holy water is a splash potion. The ingredients required are 1x Water Bottle and 1x Lapis Lazuli Dye.
Hold the water bottle and right-click an Altar of light to create the splash potion.
In you inventory this potion is called “Sparkling Potion” and seems to have no effects though it actually has two. The potion cures those infected with the dark disease. It will not cure full vampires though.
A vampire hit with holy water will suffer a 70% temperature increase. This means vampire will go blind and catch fire if they are hit by two holy water potions. The only damage taken is the one from burning but as the vampire is in no condition to fight the best way of action in that case is to flee before someone gets close with a wooden stake.
Offer and Accept Blood
Anyone (both vampires and humans) can use the commands /vampire offer and /vampire accept to trade blood.
What you actually trade is food-level. This way vampires can have “blood-slaves”.
It’s also a way to transfer the dark disease. You can at most offer 20 (all your blood). If you offer all 20 the infection risk is 100%. If you offer 4 the risk is 20% etc.
Drinking blood from others is visible to those within 7 block.
Finally we suggest you try drinking blood from yourself. Try /vampire offer [YourPlayerName].
The Vampire Dining Table
You feed as a vampire by attacking mobs and players for Blood.
