When im in-game im bombarded with everything under the sun, It’s near impossible in my position to monitor and take action for everything, Most of the time people just can’t be bothered to read, 80% of the time just repeating myself over and over because people are lazy.

So if you had/have anything to improve PirateCraft in any way, small or major, then im welcoming replies to this topic or PM me if you don’t wish it to be public, as im sure to have forgotten or missed some fantastic ideas to improve PirateCraft. I don’t want to come across as unapproachable but its extremely hard when im sent near brain-dead messages 90% of the time im online, so maybe this is a better medium to get your messages across without opening your own topic, Savvy?

Weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen!

    Hey all!

We have a build/development/games server that at present is really inactive and just going to waste, One of the uses for it was to have a creative environment to build projects for PirateCraft.

The servers whitelisted, What im looking for is builders, theres hundreads of tasks, but a very brief outline.

    • Hub (I know the rough design, but at present there is nothing at all)
    • Ships, we need hundreds
    • Pirate themed arenas of any size

So if you are a good builder, I would like some proof, replying with “Yeah I will be a builder!” wont cut it! I need proof you can build! There are a few people that will get definite yes off the block as i’ve seen them build on the server before, you should know who you are 🙂

If you are game for this, and your project is successful then you will earn a builders rank that spans across any servers we have.

Also, im open to any ideas.

I have now started my construction on a new country I have plans for,the country will be controlled by the Polynesian Empire but can have some parts under other allied Empire control.Country.

Btw, its 3 months, and within reason; even if the player is active, if the claim is never used, has nothing in it, and is there to simply annoy, it will be removed; a house often won’t be removed, if its completed and a decent build, while a dirt hut or an empty claim, even belonging to the most active player, is likely to be removed if its hindering your towns expansion.

Could these allied Empires, that look after some parts of your county, be British? Out of interest, purely; I can get your country a livemap icon, and acceptance into the largest Piratecraft empire, with 50+ members. 🙂

The bad point is: shops in minecraft can’t really work with the economics from amazon and stuff.

Because everytime we drive a price down every new member of the server will adapt to the price.
That leads to the adaption of the £ we use.Sooner or later i guess one pound will be worth 1 diamond and therefore most other items will be worth something like 0,01 £ ….now you regret giving markus all those 0,0019£donations, eh? 😉

However this happens because piratecraft£ only have one way to fix their worth, through woodprices in cove.
On other servers servershops give their money some kind of set value becuase they offer a larger set of buy and sell shops.
Here everything is up to us and therefore we can make 100£ worth one dirt or a diamond worth 1£ all based on supply and demand.(also we have sellclaimblocks ofcourse)

Because of that i don’t think we should set the prices for diamonds that high because in the right moment a Diamond can be worth a stack of logs or a single claimblock, it all depends on supply and demand.
THis marketcontroll Machi is trying to do is nice but in the end it would be better to let everyone try around….also sooner or later greedier traders will come and push those cheap shops away.

(if you trade in a set community(crew or group) you could of course do set prices this works great in a set local area where you need special ressources and stuff)

But in the end larger marketcontroll makes no sense….at least not to me.
(If large shopowners think the prices are to low: close your shops until the prices are better for you? )

@Azuries @Machi – I also set up a group for this purpose (and similar purposes) a while back! I’d be happy to produce regular-ish reports on what appears to be happening to the economy etc. over time. One thing that could very easily flaw this all, though, is if not all the merchants joined, as one merchant underpricing compared to everyone else is bound to see more demand, and therefore experience greater revenues and profits.

Anyways – here’s the link to that group I made: http://piratemc.com/groups/piratecraft-trade-association/

I’ll send you both invites, but it’s really up to you to decide if you want to join or not. I know that @CrazyPirate and @Bislo1 are both already members, too 😀

Check out this old thread: http://piratemc.com/groups/settlements/forum/topic/application-for-town-status/. It lists the basic conditions that one so-called town should have by Minecraft standards. Cities are very large towns with more developed infrastructure. The closest a town ever got to being classed as a city was Evermoore as far as I know. As for nations and empires… Well. Classing them by number of claim blocks is a bit silly, as many players have over 9k of them. I don’t think a single person should profess to rule over an “empire” when it’s only him or her and one or two friends working together. But hey, if that’s what people want to do I guess it’s up to them. Every great empire has to start somewhere. Groups on this scale are a rather new-fangled thing for PirateCraft. I’d say the British Empire is the only current “proper” empire what with 40 odd members and a decent number of settlements dotted around the map. Even so, it’s still at a very early stage of development. In the long term, I look forward to seeing what effects this will have on society as a whole. Already we are seeing rebels, freeloaders and copy-cats emerging. The days of exclusive pirate law are growing short, it’s the organised nations who will shape the future.

I just made an educated guess when it came to the 9k blocks for an empire, i only have the average starting amount so 9k looked really out of reach for me which is why i will say adapt it into a fair amount and have an X ammount of crew members to obtain these statuses.

May I suggest that we add an official system to sort this out based on claim blocks owned by a certain crew.

    500 blocks- hamlet

    1000- village

    1500- small town

    2000- town

    3000- city

    9000- country/state

    over 9000 empire.

The system could also include certain buildings so you need a capital building such as a palace, fort or parliament.

Or you could have a trade district within each sector of your territory which would make living in these areas bearable and easy, railroads or rafts to connect the settlements that belong to an “empire” or maybe a monument.

It’s just that I agree with sting about new players (such as myself) claiming to be an empire or city if all they have is a population of two and a single building.

And I agree with bislo who states that we are evolving out of our small tribes and becoming more organised, this should not be hindered as it creates a feeling of lore and history to the world and adds a new sense of order, this could even end up turning the game into a semi-MMORPG where which faction you join gives you a certain sense of belonging to a community and protection from griefers in the unclaimed lands of the wilderness.

But I doubt that’s the way the Piratecraft team wants to see things going so we must respect that and adapt to their current system plus the word empire adds weight to your faction and could be a mental deterrent to griefers as they will assume they are going to be flocked by wave after wave of vengeful players.

    (Sorry for the essay)

The PirateCraft economy is dying, and it is dying fast.

    Why?

Because new shop owners are setting up signs without checking prices, and they devalue all the expensive stuff.

Let me tell you a story:

When i first joined a diamond was worth $50 or more APEICE. Yes that’s right, diamonds were actually WORTH SOMETHING!!

Then a lovely man named WogWorld joined and began offering diamonds for not just a few dollars below the running rate (competitive selling) but at less than HALF of what others were selling for, $20.

This sounds awesome right? Cheap diamonds for everyone!!! Now here’s the problem. When diamonds no longer sell for 50$, that means if you go to sell your diamonds to another shop, you MIGHT be able to sell them for half the price.

What does this mean? It means that diamonds WERE worth 30$ to sell; but Wog bought them for 15$.

So what have we learned? Being nice and lowering the price might make you a quick buck; but everyone on the server suffers for it. Wog sold competitively, and he always tried to buy diamonds as close as he could to the price he sold it at so this didn’t happen; but these new shops are not doing this.

Currently the going price for a diamond at the cheapest of shops is 10-15$.

THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING!!!

Less than 6 months ago, a diamond was worth 50$. Now it is worth 10$, and you can sell a diamond to a shop for $5. Do you not see the issue here? These people might be making a quick buck, but now diamonds are nearly WORTHLESS!?

Please everyone, standardize your prices! Very very soon, prices on everything will be so low that no one will have any reason to USE the economy system, and no one will be able to sell things to make money because everything is practically worthless.

    Short Version:

Stop making your shop prices so cheap you are ruining the economy!!?

Also, here would be an example.

Reptaria buys sand from Shop A, then uses wood fuel to smelt it into glass. Then sells it at Shop B for MORE money.

Godsy, I was thinking about the blocks we missed. We should have a Shop E and F that sells blocks that were missed. One Shop could be decoration, another could be spawn eggs, and other rare items that aren’t displayed. These two shops couldn’t have a selling part, so what you buy you can’t get your money back.

EX No. 2 KarimNaba buys wood and stone to make a shop, she buys 8 flowers. She realizes that she meant to get 4 not 8. She can’t sell them, so she could auction them, so she still gets some money. Then she buys stonebrick, she uses it all. She buys some more from the shop, then sails to another for decor items. On the way she came across  Bensterpc carrying decor items, she robs Bensterpc, and carries on.

She how piratecraft’s economy should be based around that. Also, I ask that shops are near each other, like the sea in the center of the live map, have one at four corners.

    Hi

    @Godsdead

One important thing: These skins aren’t yet finished. Please don’t use them for the present. Quality has been mentioned before, we only want the best for PirateCraft. That is why the skins still have to be updated to a more HD format. Small changes can make a big difference:

Solid i am sorry if you feel pushed to an action i didn’t mean to do that.
In fact the British empire is the one “nation” i like the most on piratecraft because in the beginning they always stated that they only were colonies working together.

Also i can’t and i won’t make anyone change the way they play i just wanted people to think about this thing.
Sorry if you don’t share my thoughts and think they are insulting or worse i didn’t mean to be mean.

I like your opinion, but you probably won’t stop people from naming their towns “nations” as most of these people probably don’t look at the forum or don’t have an account. Or they just don’t care. The only thing I don’t fully agree with is how you define a nation. A nation hasn’t to be a group of towns. It has to be a group of people which are connected in some ways. Also, a single city can be a separate nation(history confirms that). But it would have to have a lot of citizens(of course scaling down to the population of PirateCraft) and enough power to keep the nation independent, so the city would have to be  relatively big or/and well fortified and, like you said, not to be a tiny town with 2-3 members.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work in minecraft as very few elements of this game are meant to be realistic. I think most people on the server play in small groups or want to grow powerful alone, because in this game you don’t really need other people to survive. And nobody stops the constant increase of the amount of small towns called “nations” by their owners, I see a few options why:

    1. There isn’t any dominating power among the non-claimed lands
    2. Local people are afraid to fight the new people as they can just respawn and fight back like without an end
    3. Local people don’t feel powerful enough to fight the new people

Although I support your ideas(along with the naming suggestion 🙂 ), I think the mentioned process isn’t going to stop, unless groups of people from nearby lands will start to unite on a bigger scale(like the British, but in a more unitary way to have more control over the territory) but I have no idea if it works in this game.

Well, that was pretty long, sometimes I just like to tell everything I have to tell 😛

Ok i like that we have some factions and stuff but there are two points that aren’t perfect about those.
1.I think most factions have much to large names.
Most countries that are named after a real life country are way to small in my opinnion, sure you can always represent your favourite country and stuff but the biggest faction i think is the british empire and i think even they declared just to be a collection of colonies.

2.Factionnames are nice and awesome and i propably sound completly whiny about it but i think we should use more fantasy in the factionnames.
I don’t know why most players choose to name their factions after a real life country or an already existing fantasy-country but we are creating something new on this server and i think we should use new names and ides therefore.

I don’t totally reject ideas like the british empire in piratecraft but i think at least a little more creativity and realism would be great…..sorry you have to listen to my whining^^
