I was thinking that string could be a balanced soft block because the trap still activates if you just break the string, so raiders would have to carry shears around if they wanted to disable traps. That was my original reason for suggesting it, as it would allow traps to be disabled, but only with the special tool (shears).
I’m not trying to dispute, just explaining my reasoning.

Crops can’t prevent you from reaching a player you are trying to siege, and they can’t be used to protect chests.
Unless I am unaware of a server-wide pandemic of players locking their chests and barricading themselves behind tilled farmland, I would argue for these particular blocks to remain unsiegeable.
