    Yes i have thought of that.. But, the thing is that my town is not build up in a very planned out way, and that is intentionally, to make it more “real” and “historic like”, so all the shops are not placed in one section of the city, they are spread throughout and i have house spread out the same way, so the only reason as to not confuse people would be to pvp-protect everything inside the walls. Otherwise we’ll have unicorns standing outside the shop doors waiting for customers finishing thier purchases..

    I know my town is a bit complicated. We could do it in a way where the town is pvp safe, but my fort, which is basically my base, is not safe. Only problem here is that there will be some houses inside the walls that will be unsiegeable..

    in the images above you can see what i mean, Red is shop areas, green is housing for people and yellos is structures that are owned by me and has another function than either of the two first.

    the second picture is portraying my idea of where the pvp area could be.

    there is people who have valuables inside the area.

    An even easier solution? Ban the players who are causing so much grief, or make it a rule that you can only attack players at shop in self defence. If it wasn’t for the few, the server would be a lot better.

    Better Solution: Create a PvP Free Server Shop For Generic Blocks + Basic Items

    • No player claims become protected or unfairly unaccesable
    • Establishes an actual economy
    • Nobody can whine about PvP in shops
    • Player shops can sell valuable items not found in the server shop + lower prices by say $1-$2 to compete with new shop prices. (That means you still have to risk a bit to get the good gear, and good gear should be risky to get, this also keeps the pirates raiding shops historically accurate)
    • Nobody needs to get banned
    • This is something we can actually do without adding any plugins, I know there is already a Server store for logs + ship kits at cove.

    Alex i like your basic idea but the economy you propose has the problem of serverset economy.
    When the server offers a safe shop you can always reach and where you have set prices no shop can offer rare materials more expensive if the owners would have to do that because their way of getting blaze rod’s for example would be more expensive.

    Uhm yes also i don’t like the pvp-free warps.
    I agree that it is annoying but i like servers to be as realistic as possible and one aspect of realism in minecraft is free pvp.

    However for once the reputationplguin could be a great solution for the server.
    But also it could get abused if a player gets mocked and downrated so he gets isolated.

    Since i think warps on a server with movecraft are more or less irrelevant i would propose deleting this function or at least putting in long cooldowns.
    I know that many players use them and it is usefull to get new players somewhere but at the same time captains who could have and use ships won’t do so because it is easier to warp around the map.

    I know that my opinnion is really….special but maybe this could at least be one footstep on the way to a solution…
    (i know that this is a little too much but i forgot the english word for the last part….sorry)

    I’m just gonna work in points here for easyness.

     

    pvp free shop wont work. Too many players will just live near shops so they can go pvp free after raids.

     

    removing of pvp would be pointless inc you built a base and got your self well established you would run out of this to do and people will quit.

     

    also I like the list of people who have raged quit. Sing the vast majority of them are well know back stabers who attack people on mass. And now there gone you complain cause they got bullied back them selves by people defending the warps.

     

    you guys all know me attack bullies and warp killers. You guys moan about these people I kill them they quit you guys moan cause there gone.

     

    and if you don’t like being killed at shops don’t take stuff with you g empty buy stuff leave easy.

     

    next complaints due to this war. People are turning against the BE due to the fact you have let scum in who attack players and retreat back into there ports claiming immunity due to them being BE. These guys have to go.

    I agree with sting on the warp part. It will make a more realistic world if warps were removed alltogether, but that would mean ALL warps, no warps existing in our world. period.

    This way ships would be the only option for travel, and that would create a new possibility of merchants sailing the occean with goods, they had to sell somewhere, or buy materials for thier builds. with the new shop plugin, it requires alot of storage to buy alot of materials, which is more realistic and requires bigger ships if you need more goods transported. Ports would also be more alive as ships would have to dock and load/unload goods, as of right now, ships are dead. they have no function, using ships is a stupid way of moving around the map and i very rarely use them, because they are simply not competing with the teleporting.

    removing warps also limits the distance at where players interact, so ppl who want to be let alone, can move to the edges of the map, people who want to be involved in economy, can build towns in the center of the map.

    Also raiding convoys would be more of a thing, since all transport would happen at sea, so merchants will have to sail around, exposing their ships.

    Right now, ALL combat is happening on solid ground, which is soooo not piratey. very few battles happened on ground. Almost all battles in the caribean was sea battles or sea to land assaults, were large convoys bombarded coastal forts untill they surrendered. Remember, this last type never happened with any pirateships as they were constantly fleeing the autorities, only targeting easy merchant ships.

    A Pirate is a criminal who sails a ship, remember that.

    Full scale island invasions happened rarely, and were executed only by imperial powers contesting for territory.

     

    This thing about removing warps is a big one and could potentially decrease the population of the server alot, but i also think it is the only way of making this server a true piratey one, cuz all i see is tp’ing somewhere and then killing or sieging, which can be fun, but is no way realistic in a pirate world.

     

    Ships should take back the server. I will gladly say goodbye to my warp if i know all other warps will go with it too.

    i think tpa and tpahere could be limited to a two time use per day? that would be fair, and will not contest with ships.

    One thing i have to add to Bislo.
    Ships are not useless.
    I use mine for traveling for fun and also for scouting out areas.
    It is the only way to transport animals and looting abadoned bases goes very quick with a ship too.

    I think that big issue of the Reputation plugin is, that you need to request rating, which warp killers would never do and have default rating of 0. You should let anyone /rate anyone else anythime, rather then have rated /getrep and request rating.

    You should only be able to siege and maybe attack people of your own rank, not including donator ranks. I don’t know about this though, it may cause some problems.

    Like Bislo said in the fourm above, it would be unfair, because what about the people WANTED at trade, they could go there and dance around when they should be being punished. This is also very unfair because you could raid someone, just walk away to trade, and have no worries. ARE WE PIRATES, YES! We have stuff that needs to be worried about. If we had to worries, then we aren’t pirates, we would be buisness men. My suggestion is that there is a pvp-timer for the parts of trade and wolf that are not shops, and for the shops are pvp-free. Once last comment, the owner of the shop should be able to change if they want their shop pvp-free or not. For a bit of advertising, Shop at dorkito101’s and crabriel’s shop, we sell ores, redstone items, food, and mining tools!

    Alternatively, have a pvp free trade hub.

    Like /warp trade, however, anyone can build a shop there, any size with any items. It has to be pvp free and you can not live there. Any man/woo-man is free to come and go. Maybe an AFK house for thise that require to stay longer.

    No setting home or anything alike. No TP to the hub.

    So a centralised resource hub like what nassau is, just without the grief.

    Thatll be the safe zone, for trade as you like.

    Then if you decide to build a shop out of this zone, its down to your own demise to ensure its safety.

    This might solve a lot of porblems.

    PVP has to stay, i dont see why this cant work harmoniously.

    @Azuries Any other polling system would have the exact same problems, This is fine, I can see who voted for what.

    @ryguybuddy Your plugin could easily be made in mycommand, or skript, If we were going to have a reputation system (I have thought about this already) It would be using the stats plugin, using a custom statistic, so then I could pull it the web UI.

    I looked for a PVP timer to trigger on using warps, I couldnt find anything.

    We had a very large, heated staff chat with all staff last night about PVP, there still wasnt a solution brought to the table, Im going to start by making The Cove PVP free, and we can go from there.

    Yes, but why would we make Cove PVP Free? What important shops are there? I don’t use the Cove for basically anything.
