Hi i know this post is pointless because so many people love /near.
But i don’t think it’s fair when players use /near because you spend so long buying or brewing invis potions to find out that they don’t work.
OP players especially certain ones are practically impossible to kill unless you are the same level as they are but /near just destroys any small, tiny chance that you could even hit them once. And sure i’m sure the players have worked hard to craft such amazing Armour and weapons but i just don’t think that /near is a fair huge advantage for high ranked players because it makes it impossible to catch them off guard or to even get close to them. i am aware that this is more of a complaint than a suggestion but i don’t know how else to put it. sorry about that.
thanks __plant :I
Hi I'm _SPOOKYPLANT ( or plant for short ). I run a crew called the Plant Nation. The Plant Nations main focus is to recruit new deckhands to the server and run the peninsula which is growing my the second! Aside form all this I also work with my personal friends every now and again to run a town we are in the process of building, I also run a market stall at /warp shop if you would like to check it out!

September 4, 2017 at 6:15 pm #53185The only real argument for removing /near is that it gives players a warning that they are about to be attacked, and it has saved me quite a few times (coughrivercough). Then again it is only available to Lieutenants and above, and the majority of them are at least relatively well established, with siege proof bases etc. And like Ketoh said I want a good deal for my buck when I buy a rank, and /near is a nice lil’ perk of the job.
Just my two cents….

Horatio NelsonSeptember 5, 2017 at 10:23 pm #53233putting a timer to the /near would be a lot better
seriusly now you can spam it like a human radar.
putting a limit like, you can use /near every 5 minutes would be better .also when you pay 20$ to the server , you do it for support it , not for having an advantage over other players and kill them , this is not how it works.
removing it is too drastic

That’s just it, its a nice lil’ perk, not an invulnerability to be attacked.
I remember when I wasn’t donator rank, and I used to be petrified of people coming and attacking me whilst building. I had friends who were donators, and I annoyed them by constantly asking them to /near for me, because I thought it would save me from being attacked. Well it doesn’t save you, its just a warning that you are about to get raided or killed, and as far as I know not many people are constantly spamming /near.When I got the donator perms, including /near, I used it a lot… until I got bored after a week and just started accepting that I’d be attacked one day. The range on it is what, 100-150 blocks? That’s nothing really, considering someone with speed II potions runs at ~8 blocks per second (with jumping), giving you about 18 seconds to react. So when you attack someone with speed II and invis, they would have to be doing /near every 18 seconds or so to be safe. Its really just a case of luck/good timing.
Plant, if you were to be standing in the middle of your island, if someone was within 150 block radius of you, they would already be on your island, probably preparing to siege. Likewise goes for people you attack – its not a lot of reaction time. If you are having issues with attacking people with /near… don’t attack donators, at least, don’t attack new donators as I can guarantee they will be spamming /near
