April 15, 2015 at 3:24 pm #12110I provide [Sell] signs at my shop. I consider that as a way to keep the economy running by offering more ways for beginners to earn money.
Yesterday, I sadly had to lower all my prices on those [Sell] signs because of those silly new merchants.
I can’t keep up buying ressources at a correct price when :
– players earn money by reselling me what they bought from other merchants
– some players sell me stacks of diamonds just to have the biggest balance on the server
– those new merchants stole 80% of my customers and I’m not earning anything anymore by selling itemsI’m not planning on changing my shop prices are they’re what I would call “fair”. They even were, before the shop plugin change, quite cheap. But I have to cut on my daily [Sell] signs expenses as my balance isn’t infinite.
I was planning on adding more and more [Sell] signs with time to cover all possible “jobs” beginners could wish to have … but I can’t as long as I have to worry about that situation.
I’ve already opened a Merchant Guild group but am still waiting for shop/town owners to join it so we can discuss that kind of issues. http://piratemc.com/groups/merchant-guild-of-the-pirate-federation/
April 15, 2015 at 3:38 pm #12111Cause Karimnaba robs everyone of there riches and money and makes us buy from him by threats or 1.2 or 3k prices

April 15, 2015 at 6:28 pm #12113so hey what if we place a infinite cash place were it buys itmes like diamonds and iron for a “fair” price so players are obligated to maintain the price of the diamonds to a point.
most of the diamonds would go to the “infinite” cash sing. and ppl might just trick other players that don’t know of this “standard” price.

April 15, 2015 at 7:59 pm #12119@Azuries @Machi – I also set up a group for this purpose (and similar purposes) a while back! I’d be happy to produce regular-ish reports on what appears to be happening to the economy etc. over time. One thing that could very easily flaw this all, though, is if not all the merchants joined, as one merchant underpricing compared to everyone else is bound to see more demand, and therefore experience greater revenues and profits.
Anyways – here’s the link to that group I made: http://piratemc.com/groups/piratecraft-trade-association/
I’ll send you both invites, but it’s really up to you to decide if you want to join or not. I know that @CrazyPirate and @Bislo1 are both already members, too 😀
April 15, 2015 at 8:01 pm #12120This is part of the reason I suggested NPC shops, a server wide set price for items that player shop owners have to compete with would solve this problem. Also, Im not crying because Im paying less for diamonds.

April 15, 2015 at 9:51 pm #12127So I guess currently the big decision is whether we use machis guild or charlies; as there really is no point in starting another.
I’m inclined to go with Machi, simply because he owns a shop, what does everyone else think?
And solid? Just wander around the many new shop warps.
April 16, 2015 at 12:55 am #12130sadly someone saw my chat and but them all no shop has any stock of diamonds (that sell 19 or less)

April 16, 2015 at 5:14 pm #12178It’s market economics. If I want to make a sale of an exactly like good, I’m going to compete on price. That may require getting ruthlessly competitive to drive out competition, such as Amazon’s strategy.
If you want prices to increase, get out of the market to decrease supply 😉
April 16, 2015 at 5:59 pm #12181Amazon’s strategy doesn’t entirely rely on market economics though… *cough* tax avoidance *cough*… Though their strategy is a clearly very effective one, it also has its flaws, like every strategy… Though I do completely agree with you point 😀 – For more information, look up Porter’s generic strategies. Porter stated that in order for a business to succeed, it must either be the cheapest, or highly differentiated. Because all shops sell pretty much the same goods, they have to compete on price. Though Azuries’ and Ma_ch_i’s shared business plan sounds like it’s also going to work well 🙂
April 16, 2015 at 6:32 pm #12182The bad point is: shops in minecraft can’t really work with the economics from amazon and stuff.
Because everytime we drive a price down every new member of the server will adapt to the price.
That leads to the adaption of the £ we use.Sooner or later i guess one pound will be worth 1 diamond and therefore most other items will be worth something like 0,01 £ ….now you regret giving markus all those 0,0019£donations, eh? 😉However this happens because piratecraft£ only have one way to fix their worth, through woodprices in cove.
On other servers servershops give their money some kind of set value becuase they offer a larger set of buy and sell shops.
Here everything is up to us and therefore we can make 100£ worth one dirt or a diamond worth 1£ all based on supply and demand.(also we have sellclaimblocks ofcourse)Because of that i don’t think we should set the prices for diamonds that high because in the right moment a Diamond can be worth a stack of logs or a single claimblock, it all depends on supply and demand.
THis marketcontroll Machi is trying to do is nice but in the end it would be better to let everyone try around….also sooner or later greedier traders will come and push those cheap shops away.(if you trade in a set community(crew or group) you could of course do set prices this works great in a set local area where you need special ressources and stuff)
But in the end larger marketcontroll makes no sense….at least not to me.
(If large shopowners think the prices are to low: close your shops until the prices are better for you? )April 16, 2015 at 8:34 pm #12198the problem with minecraft is that its free. we dont pay euiptment and we dont have actual hard time findind diamonds.if this was the case diamonds would be kept in a “fair” price do to the cost (iron, sticks, time and the people you paid to work for you count as a cost).

April 16, 2015 at 9:00 pm #12199I think the biggest problem is just greedy children running shops, One option would be to make it harder to own a shop, Either Decrese the amount of signshops the younger players have. At present Cadets can make shops, maybe this should be limited, or just start from Sailor.
Who are the culprits making eco worse?
Also, the Wiki will be back soon where we can have an in-depth guide that you guys can write and edit as you please that people can follow, have in-depth shop pages linked form that too, you could even have price lists with the Wiki if you wanted to go that mad.
April 16, 2015 at 9:03 pm #12201Sting makes a good point. If more server shops are set up where you can sell more types of items, the standard price for an item you get for selling there would be the absolute lowest price you’d want to sell items for in your own shop. Because otherwise smart people would just buy up your whole stock and sell it to the server for a tidy profit (which would mean you’d have been better off selling it to the server yourself!) And if that were to happen, those items would become more rare and thus more expensive.
Anyway, it’s good to see the economy becoming more dynamic. Some of the more unscrupulous traders might consider using different means to reduce the competition. This is a pirate server after all. 😀
^ Ha, I’m not advocating shop killing btw. Lol.
