I’m not sure I have the an answer for these issues, but wanted to share some thoughts. My claim was under siege today 3 consecutive times, and attackers (Delta) failed, however, some issues:
1. When items dropped from the attacker, I was able to pick up the good loot but then another siege occurred immediately, resulting in the remaining items despawning. It would be nice if there was a way to pick up items dropped when one defends against a siege without having it despawned (the “if I can’t win the siege, you can’t have the items either). I was lucky the good loot filled up empty slots in my inventory before the next siege, but could have easily not picked up anything and the loot would have despawned.
2. The 2nd and 3rd siege attempts seemed to use players with no gear other than explosives as nothing dropped when they failed the siege, thus there was no consequence to losing. If this was a large crew vs crew battle then having no gear would be at a disadvantage in maintaining the siege (and even then, there’s no risk to losing a siege). This seems a slight abuse of siege mechanics. If there was a way to force some minimum consequence for losing a siege, that may prevent this tactic. Someone could siege using alt with no gear, for example.
I realize these issues go both ways – the defender could somehow quickly move all valuable loot into chests and then just die so the attackers get nothing, but timing for non-captains to dump loot into chests is near impossible and risky during a full on siege-rotation. The attackers can rotate siegers faster than you can manage your inventory.
