I was leading a counter attack the other night, and we of course brought a good ‘ol fashioned cannon into the fight to cut into their base. Much to our surprise, the cannon did absolutely nothing. Yes, I made sure the siege was on, I’ve been in attacks before, and I specifically remember the ability to use cannons. A few questions derive from this news:
1.Was this removed or something?
2.Do you have any control over it?
3.If so, is the mechanic coming back any time soon?
It’s clear that siege has been required to favor the defender rather than the attacker, but it used to be kind of fun to design a complex, cannon-proof base. Using obsidian, end stone, etc. Later on in the attack, 2 more things occurred that we completely unexpected: you cannot use the defender’s levers/buttons, nor use enderpearls. I’ve heard that it “unlocks” redstone in the claim after you win, but I specifically remember being able to use it, like Stormer56 hopping my walls to open my gate, letting his comrades in, or Unic0rnjunk101 waltzing into my throne room when he had a thing for me. Again, I think that it would be a little more fun for the builder to just imagine ways to have entrances/exits without a defined door. A good example of that would be DirectorAnivian’s base, which is crawling with invisible doors, that he can open & close from a central location. So again with this mechanic:
4. Was it removed by you or the plugin programmers?
5. If by you, is it coming back any time soon?
And for the final thing- enderpearls. I actually feel the strongest about this one. Enderpearls have played an important role in several sieges in the past. Hopping walls in my old forts, Reptaria using them to jump into TheNye’s base when they made a territory violation, and so on. This was a really fun mechanic to defend against. I know it’s very possible to create a pearl-proof base. By either making a closed top, or having walls entirely too massive to jump like my own. (’tis a glorious sight to see people thinking they can jump it, only to plunge 50 blocks down then smack into lava) So again with my 2 magical questions:
6. Removed by you or the plugin programmers?
7. If by you, is there any plan to bring it back?

When spigot moved to version 1.8.3 they changed the method with how other explosions are handled, this was initially an issue as GriefPrevention didnt know about this, so cannons/other explosions were able to destroy all claims & all land, I reported the bug to the GP dev, he fixed it. When he “Fixed it” he screwed up normal TNT not working outside of claims, so im assuming he forgot to fix other explosions working during a siege now. I will test and report this to the developer.
Singe I havent been able to siege a player for about 6 months (I never get to play!) how did this work before? Did cannons do full force damage? Or slightly less damage during a siege?
May 1, 2015 at 2:36 pm #13074Cannons used to do a decent amount of damage but now they just blow up but nothing happens.
