At present our entire shop system is based on using Essentials trade signs, there is one major issue stopping me from moving from 1.7.10 to 1.8, and that’s all Essentails signs will break, that includes all Shops at the cove as well as every player shop, I know how tedious this is to setup each and every sign, and there is a lot on the server.

There may be an option to convert these signs, but it means getting the host to do it for us, this could pose tricky since they take a while to respond.

So we need a backup in-case there is no option to convert these signs.

Now at present you cant sell a lot of things, so im suggesting we move to chestshops, This will allow you to put things in a chest to sell, as you can see there are lots of extensions that go with this too. http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/chestshop/

We will need to make a decision as a community, but I think moving shops over to a proper shop system may be better than what we have now anyway.

I am for chestshop, beside that. That means we cant store any exp anymore, so yea could we also add a exp plugin ?

I count as a shop owner; I have 2,000 steak for sale. Chests are easier to use and understand, and would probably be more space efficient. I vote yes!

With the actual configuration (chests not protected without a block on top of them), would the chest shops be auto locked or need a block on them to be protected?
The space taken for selling a single item will increase with that plugin but if we need to put blocks on those chests too, it’ll be even worse.

It dousnt have to be chestshops, we could use any of the shop systems, theres signshops: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/signshop/

This seems much better than chestshop, check out the features http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/signshop/pages/expanded-features/

It also works with a lot more plugins, and chests DO NOT need to be directly under signs, they can be anywhere on the map I think, or within a radius, will work with dynmap, seriously I think this is the shop plugin we need.

Either way, at some point im gonig to have to convert the world from 1.7 to 1.8.

That means a map reset? What a shame it would be to lose all that has been built over the years. :/

I think that chest shops will help with NPC Trade Towns too 😀 😀 😀 😀 (As long as we can make NPC Chest Shops, which I think you can do!)

Yeah sure you should make the switch but I must say that chest shops are sort of complicated to set up the first time around from what I remember. Anyways, just warn us before you do the changeover so we have time to store our items.
