I believe that after every time your Captain rank expires you get automatically transferred to sailor rank. Now, I also believe that you can not request to get your old rank (gunner) back; I am reasonably certain that you have to redo the requirements to get said (gunner) rank.

Thats wrong. You can ask to get your previous rank back its because it cant remember the rank youve had before

I will manually re-rank people back to a previous rank if you bought it, Otherwise there’s no way to know what previous rank you were because of how lame the donation works, it wont save the existing rank before.

Im going to be changing permissions systems in the near future to fix this issue, but yes it auto de-ranks you to Sailor, you will have already completed all the rank progression in /rank you will only need to collect XP again to re-rank! So you will get the presents again! freebies!
