    Before we can even consider testing 1.8, we have this big problem of converting to the new griefprevention, now why is this a problem?

    The version we are on, is a very very old version without UUID support, the main developer gave up developing for it and the project was taken over by a new developer that re-wrote the plugin pretty much from scratch, Now hes made a lot of performance increases, but hes simplefied the plugin complelty to the point wheres theres hardly any control, so If I wanted to limit something specific, I cant do it.

    Not only that, but since out old system uses just usernames to store the claims, we have to do a lookup for every single player thats ever played on the servers UUID, this is close to 15,000 players now.. I did a dry run on my home server and it took 11 hours, thats when we had about 11,000 players to convert, so im assuming this will take 15 hours, and that wasnt without flaw, A lot of the claims were not converted, so you can see why im a little worried about this changeover.

    Now, Im going to have to do it at somepoint, either locally or whitelist the server until its done, Either way I will have to lock any changes to claims happening in that time.

    I see GriefPrevention as our most important plugin, out of everything, and I know its not going to be a flawless transaction, we would never have such luck.

    So, im going to trial another dry run today, leave that going and see how long it takes to try and see if claims are lost on my development server at home.

    Since we’re on the topic of Grief Protection – I just want to say, every time I do /siege , it doesnt let me open chests during the siege. I unlock the chests in /siege, but when I try to open them (also in /siege)  I simply can’t.. T_T

    Errm that’s how its suppose to work!? That would be absolutely terrible if that worked, people would run into a claim siege, steal everything and teleport away! people could literally just storm into a claim siege and rob the person, even if they were completely on the other side of a giant claim.

    I haven’t even tested siege in the latest version, I think sadly there is no siege revert in this new version, damage is kept, So I can see quite a lot of people rage quitting the server if its enabled.

    Love that idea BUT Idea Why Not World Guard Known Structures until u sort out the 1.8 This will deleted inactive player claims and also save known builds Like we had in the first maybe 3 monhs i was on the server all claims went away and we admin claimed all builds until people claimed them

    But gods – I can’t access ANY chests in the sieged claim! How am I supposed to loot the player, if I cannot open the chests I just un-locked?

    Athen Called having a second person like wkeresey would call me to help him siege someone or i would call him to help me Simple Love the fact Damage wont revert . As I will be able to destroy those terrible noob huts and they wont reappear

    Athen, we can dusguss sieges once we are on the new system, theres absolutely no point talking about them now if we don;t know how they work on the new system! I don’t really want to have siege on if builds don’t get reverted, some people are on here just to build not to fight.

    Nope, not any time soon, 1.8 is extreamly buggy, a lot of plugins are not updated to 1.8 yet and theres a few giant changes we need to make first i.e moving to the new griefprevention, it literlly needs to convert over 3000 claims.

    OKAY FIRST OFF CORNTHEUS really? i swear you could be a general of the army one day xD and also ik most people would want 1.8 but i vote wait until 1.8.1 comes out for bukkit or spigot what ever the server has because i can name a few glitches right of the bat so as to speak “wolfves wont tp to you if you walk far enough” but in 1.7.10 they tp to you like every 30 blocks or something but the points is i think we should wait on 1.8

    @MrMehHehHeh you are right, its best to wait until some of the initial glitches are sorted out.

    I have read that signs dont convert to 1.8 at present, enhance dousnt work and a few other game breaking things.
