Hello everyone! I’m not sure if anyone will take the time to read this but to those who do…
I have recently realized just how far players on PirateCraft have shifted away from true “piracy” in Minecraft but some still call themselves “pirates” when they simply raid someone. I just want to remind players of proper pirate etiquette that actually existed during the Golden Age of Piracy. If players want to truly be pirate captains like Benjamin Hornigold, Charles Vane, Blackbeard, or Samuel Bellamy. (Or Jack Sparrow)… Then they should follow these “guidelines”….
1. There is such thing as cannon salutes. When ships enter a harbour, allied ships or fellow pirates would shoot off cannon salutes from ships or from forts. The more cannon salutes, the more respect shown.
2. Pirates were DEMOCRATIC everything was put to a vote and all pirates were equal (even black pirates had the same status as white pirates). All decisions were put to a vote and the captain only received a double share of the loot from raids. Captains only held complete control of the ship during battle. On Piratecraft, a ton of players call themselves rulers (kings or queens). If this is the case… DO NOT FUDGING CLAIM YOU ARE A PIRATE. (Thanks 🙂 )
3. Mutinies/rebellions are allowed if crews are not satisfied with their captain. You don’t always have to bow down.
4. Be nice to each other and respect each other. Pirates are all brethren of the sea.
5. Have fun sailing the high seas and avoid the authories (i.e. Godsdead, Markusi13, Iamthereaper89, SuperGL, skymanjay, etc)
Not sure if this typed rant will actually affect anyone… Anyways, have fun people >.>

January 23, 2015 at 2:48 am #8089And don’t forget about Parley. This would add a great aspect to siege, as someone about to be raided could ask for parley and the pirate would then be bound to hear him out and possibly work out a deal in exchange for their life.
Let’s not forget pirates had a CODE of HONOR they followed. There IS honor among thieves. Killing someone repeatedly for no reason and saying ‘what do you expect this is a pirate server’ is completely idiotic because a true pirate would have enough self respect and respect for other pirates to not do things like that. (Assuming people came back from the dead irl)

Again, always willing to make custom plugins for ideas like this.
January 23, 2015 at 5:32 am #8091Ryan, you should make a /parlay command! Let’s see how that will be abused during every siege! 😛
We shouldn’t forget this still is minecraft and not everything can be as realistic as we would like them to be.
I, however, completely agree with all points made above
January 23, 2015 at 8:11 am #8092Maybe its the influx of new players. I generally think the average maturity level drops whenever a new one drops on. If this was indeed real life, there wouldn’t be so many people asking how to play! I also agree with all the above.
January 23, 2015 at 12:49 pm #8094@TimHuisman Thats a great idea, but what would it do? I think you should create a [request] topic and let people come up with some ideas Tim for /parlay.
I can create this and run any command for any plugin on it, you can chain a few things together, set variables per user or make something happen, it could also cost money etc if wanted.
January 23, 2015 at 3:23 pm #8099I like the list and agree on most points.
However i have to make a really slight correction:
Not ALL Pirates were democrats.
It is true that most were but it also is possible that a cruel captain establishes a dictatorship with the help of his leutnants.
But you are right it was the most common political model on a pirateship.
However if you think about freebooters/privateers:
Those actually were some sort of shipcommanders set in their place by a country.
Many of those were professional mercenaries and thus followed a strict hierarchie. However since i have seen noone callim himself a freebooter or privateer on the server i guess this last argument is somewhat invalid…
January 23, 2015 at 3:39 pm #8101@GodsDead that about /parlay actually was a joke, but perhaps it would be a nice touch to /siege! I’ll think about it
January 24, 2015 at 2:17 pm #8124January 24, 2015 at 3:16 pm #8126i would wish that in the 1.8 we could place that dirt on the ships and make food that way we dont need to stop for anything exept wepons and armour.
