Alright, since day 1 of PirateCraft I have ment to have a games server where you could have ships vs ships, ships vs castles gameplay that all resets each round.
I have had the hardware to run a second server, a games server forever now I just am so tied up with PirateCraft survival I haven’t got around to it.
What I want from you, if game ideas that would be technically possible.
Whats your favorite game mode?
Unique to PirateCraft Gamemodes to come
- Ships vs Ships battles, real proper battles that reset each game, so you can fight between 2 factions against each other. I have wanted to do this for 4 years and never got around to it, I think I might start with this and see if it actually works.
- Ships VS Castle battle, a defense, you have to defend the castle, the Pirates have to attack the castle, works like king of the hill, keep the pirates away, yes you can blow up everything!
These are the two games I want to build for PirateCraft games server, Im going to need help actually building these arenas/ships.
Im thinking I might start with just a server thats whitelsited where a group of players can work together to build the arenas/ships with full creative, worldedit, voxelsniper and schematics we can paste in or copy from the main server or single player.
So this is a thread to go nuts, any ideas you have for a games server, let us all know, lets get the ideas out there, lets talk who wants to build this, lets talk the best technical way to achieve building these arenas.
I have a second server, so it’ll be easy enough to setup an environment to build while I continue to do updates for PirateCraft survival, and then we can make this all work!
Even if we start by using pre-made worlds that are up for download we could test out technical methods to make these work and how the gamemodes would work, how you would win etc.
I have an infinite list of improvements for PirateCraft survival, but I think we can at least start with building on the PirateCraft games server!
Lets rock.
September 5, 2016 at 7:25 pm #40323Simple pvp would be great, so you can practice with friends without fear of it affecting your stats on the survival server. A treasure hunt style mode would be cool, sorta like hunger games, only the very best loot is hidden in a cache somewhere in the map, that the pirates must find; first to get to it gets the best gear, and likely wins.
Glad this is happening!
September 5, 2016 at 8:10 pm #40324Yeah a ship vs ship game would be fun, perhaps also with a larger teams also for a larger ship or more teams?
Perhaps a cannon-shoot-out arcade style game, which people could just play whilst waiting for a game, where you have to hit as many targets in a certain amount of time with a cannon and the higher the score you get, the better the prize could be that you earn and can use within the piratecraft game.
Also a master builder game? like people make quick pirate themed builds in a certain amount of time, not only would this display people’s imagination and sharing of ideas of people under pressure, but could also help people practice in what people do and do not like, and help them in build competitions.
What about another version of the ship vs ship battles, but you instead get given a certain amount of materials (probably enough to build a large schooner) and battle using what you (and possibly your team) have built. Giving birth to perhaps innovative designs of ships, and possibly funny ships (like people who wont take it seriously :D) for a bit of a laugh and a challenge.
I don’t know but maybe a walk the plank game? Where you have to possibly stand on a plank perhaps which is gradually getting smaller and smaller, or you have to go to certain parts of the plank or jump off the right one (or wrong one) before the last person. To which the results whether or who died or not are not broadcasted, until the round is up to stop people choosing the right one, perhaps with a variety of different pirate and piratecraft themed questions which each plank represents a correct or incorrect answer? just a brain storm this one really.
Perhaps also a game where you have to brew a certain brew as quickly as you can, this game is sped up though and the time, so you can get it right, but remember the ingredients and the right ageing barrel. There should be an easy, medium and hard games for all people, for those who are new to it brewing wheat beer, to those who brew blind rage.
Just wanted to throw down some of my ideas 🙂
September 5, 2016 at 9:19 pm #40328I like all the ideas above and would only add that would be cool to have something like the update I just got to my x-box 360, that included mini-games, similar to a hunger game like setup, which are fun. I don’t know if you could set up a timer (which honestly is annoying), but the premise is you have a cool environment – cove or dungeon or lava pit, and no one can get out (warp into like the arena), and in the center (or hidden), is a box with weapons and or food, pots, etc. There could even be several stashed around. The warp ins can be random inside it, if possible, and it would also be cool to maybe have a button to start the game that is basically like a siege set up so no one can tp in or out once its started. Then, its every pirate for themselves. 🙂

My idea is there would be two forts, one red and one blue obviously. Each team would have to make there way past cannons, traps, etc. All siegeable blocks would be able to blow up, and there would be kits. (Healer, Tank, Archer, etc.)
Also, each team would have a couple of ships to sail over and blow everything up with!

September 5, 2016 at 10:41 pm #40335September 5, 2016 at 11:15 pm #40339A cannon battle game! It would be nice, players given cannons and materials with a range of ammunition to fire at their enemies… Free-for-all or teams mode.

September 5, 2016 at 11:29 pm #40341if we could somehow make a pirate-themed battleship game that would be insane, like sailing ships into different quadrants and being able to drop tnt on parts of them if u guess where they are 🙂

September 6, 2016 at 12:09 am #40344September 6, 2016 at 12:59 am #40345We should add a points system, where everyone starts at a set number, and players can play casual matches and ranked matches. Ranked matches affects your points (ex: loss -10 win +15) This can make this gameplay slightly more competitive and players will try hard to get onto a leaderboard.

Ironic
September 6, 2016 at 2:45 pm #40359It would be cool to see the return of the old kit arenas we used to have on survival. Arena battles solo or in a team are always short and fun. And I do miss spleef arena somewhat. 🙂
I can think of a few gamemodes that are fun. Unfortunately we can’t have too many or the queues will take foreeeeeever. Unless there is a “random signup” option.
-o- Kit arena: Free for all
-o- Kit arena: Team vs. team
-o- CTF as described by Riverwood
-o- Control point: One team attacks control points and the other defends
-o- Control point: Both teams try to control as many points as possible
-o- King of the Hill: Using Piratecraft cannons, gates and bridges?
-o- Payload: Sail or transport a treasure chest while the other team tries to stop you
-o- Ship vs ship battles with cannons and boarding opportunities (PirateCraft bridges that need to be prepared first?)
-o- Skyblock: PirateCraft style with deadly water and movecraft ships
-o- Battleship as described by CaptainCrackerz
-o- God PvP and PirateCraft mechanics training arena?
-o- Hunger games?
-o- Spleef arena?September 7, 2016 at 1:52 am #40380Maybe a little parkour course with breaks between short parkour courses where a challenge takes place?
So lets say there are 10 players. They must complete a short, pretty easy parkour. Upon completing it, they find themselves on a platform, where they are told what the challenge is, and given a little time to prepare. There is a small group of chests in the middle, and it contains various items, with each chest being labelled as to what it pertains to. So let’s say that the challenge here is to brew a special potion. Players would look through the chests and try to find a brewing stand, water bottles, and ingredients. For those that don’t know how to brew the potion, there could be a small display of what they need for the challenge. Upon arriving at the platform, players could look through the chests, no pvp. Once the last person arrives on the platform, there are an additional 30 seconds or so to look through chests. The chests then lock, and after another ten seconds the challenge starts. Blocks can then be placed, and pvp may be enabled if it is a pvp challenge. Based on completion, the first people to complete the challenge will be allowed to progress ahead to the next parkour course, and then, the next platform. Thus, the cycle repeats, with there being a benefit to completing parkour courses and challenges quickly, as it gives more time for the next one.
A little bit imaginative, but I think it would a very fun idea, and I’d be happy to clarify anything that I did not describe well enough here in PMs.
Sorry for the block of text, I just couldn’t figure out how to organize it yet. PM me for balancing details or to give feedback. Critiques welcome, as long as you explicitly state what you don’t like about it!
(So don’t just say, “I don’t like it” or “That’s a terrible idea”, say “I don’t like this part because (reason). Maybe try (Possible Solution) instead?”)
