Please correct me if i am wrong, but I have always found it rare to find two pirate ships engage in a battle out on the seven seas. I fell that players now a days tend to play the server as a factions server, which it isn’t, as they tend to just do a full on siege against a fortified base. And by the way, I have no problem with that. However, more and more people play this server by hiding in a nutshell of a base, and wait until some guy teleports in and siege’s them.
What I would be suggesting is a command to enable a player to sort of siege a ship on the ocean, but enable blocks to be broken. And similar to a siege, it would say ‘player 1 defeated player 2 in a ship battle using the (ship name)’
Now I’m not much of a coder, nor am i even aware if the server could even handle something like that without crashing or causing severe power drainage to the server, meaning you would have to wire up a supermarket of hamsters in wheels to keep the server up and running.
One last thing, would there be a way to receive some sort of token when sieging a player, such as every time a player wins a siege, he gets a piece of paper named ‘player 1 defeated player 2 in siege warfare’ or something not that sort. This would be useful to keep track of all the players you have defeated in a siege. However once again, lag may be an issue.
These are all minor suggestions, feel free to comment on the matter.

@XeronAugust 10, 2015 at 5:34 pm #19473Due to movecraft being fro 1.8 and us using it on a later version cuts its performance by 50% and ships lag the server. Maybe when the server and movecraft update to 1.9, the admins could implement something like this, but ships take a long time to build, so I am unsure if people would be up for this.

I couldn’t agree more. You don’t see enough ship battles, much less players sailing. I’ve suggested battles in chat a couple times, but nobody seems to be up for it. Perhaps we could start something like a player-based competition. Set some guidelines in place, staying in-line with the server rules, of course. Things like “no claiming land for warfare” and such.So I’m thinking something like this:
- Choose what ships you’ll battle – players must battle the same ship type (Schooner, Brig, etc.)
- Agree on a crew size – Onboard crew must be equal number of players.
- Decide a place to battle – Somewhere with no land claims, since they prevent damage from cannons.
- No TNT clusterbomb ammo – since these can sink a ship in one shot.
- Ships must be piloted at all times – No releasing the vessel.
- First to sink ship or kill Captain (player who’s piloting) wins.
- Losers build chosen ship type for winners.
This is, of course, open for revising. Maybe agreeing on what materials can and can’t be used. Though this may not be exactly as you’ve suggested here, I think it could be an enjoyable alternative. Nothing like a friendly challenge, right? Give me your thoughts.
