I mean.. someone clearly doesn’t know how competition works, you have to outbid your competitors, not plunk the price down to almost nothing. Wow i’m awed
so I can seriously get 3£ diamonds right now? that’s insane, what do people sell them for then? They’re worth less than a gold bar.. Is this just me?

Ha! The thing is, the highest amount I can sell my diamonds for on Ae0’s is for £2; if I walk over there, with a stack of dia blocks, I’m only gonna sell them at £2 per diamond. Which is crap for me, when they end up getting sold for a median of 9.45.
So, the other day, I said screw it. I’m going to take up shop in London (which you can now reach via a nether portal at Ae0’s!) and start selling diamonds myself, starting at just £2.50. Because, at the end of the day, £2.50 is more than the £2 I would have otherwise got, and I’m getting rid of my boring diamonds at the same time.
So come on down to my shop in London (when it’s set up) for the cheapest diamond deals around!
October 10, 2016 at 9:27 pm #41832a stack of stone for $0.25!?!?!?
back in my day i sold a stack of stone bricks (same amount of stone) for $4, and was the CHEAPEST!

October 10, 2016 at 9:43 pm #41833Remember when prices didn’t have the absurdly low prices? Remember when people didn’t complain about getting sold things for a low MINIMUM price?
Seriously though nobody’s gonna sell for the minimum all the time. At least if you’re not stupid that is.

October 10, 2016 at 10:45 pm #41834@allidoisdig1234 @CaptainCrackerz @CrazyPirate1 I completely agree, I too was suprised when I saw some of these prices, we need to work to get these prices higher, and Crazy, if you’d like I could do a report for London as well, the entire point of all this is to get people informed and get as accurate data as possible.

October 10, 2016 at 11:17 pm #41837Why is everyone trying to dictate the economy, let them sell their goods for whatever they want. Sure, a guidelines nice but don’t use it to force people into selling it at prices they don’t want to

@GTerwilligerOctober 11, 2016 at 1:39 am #41843It would make sense to include both sell and buy prices. I buy diamonds for $3 (because people actually sell), but I would never sell them for that price (I sell for $7). And if someone sells stone for $0.25, then they either have insane stock, or you can easily buy them out and resell it for $3.00. Either way I don’t see it as a problem.
Stop being butthurt over your stockpiles of worthless diamonds that you can’t sell for outrageous prices and blame xp bottles + mending + no “wars”.
There is no “true” price of a diamond. If no one wants your diamonds for $15, it’s your problem ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

October 11, 2016 at 2:23 am #41849Who buys diamonds for 3£?? are you absolutely nuts?
Erm… If someone keeps selling me diamonds at $3, who is nuts here? ?
How can you have a deviation of 11£, with the lowest price being 3£, on something as solid as diamonds.. holy crap
Because some people are stuck in the past and haven’t updated their shops in ages?
I mean.. someone clearly doesn’t know how competition works, you have to outbid your competitors, not plunk the price down to almost nothing. Wow i’m awed
If someone keeps selling diamonds at $3, then I will keep my prices that low. If no one buys diamonds at $15 because there are other shops selling at $7, I will be selling at $7. I don’t know how that is “not competition”, maybe we both should consult a dictionary on that term? ? If I start running out of stock, I might consider raising my prices. But having tons of dead assets (stacks of diamonds that you can’t move) is not how you earn money.
so I can seriously get 3£ diamonds right now? that’s insane, what do people sell them for then? They’re worth less than a gold bar..
None of the precious “metals” are that rare imho. People have been stockpiling diamonds for eternity because they were led to believe that diamonds were valuable. But what is the value of something you never use (due to mending and other reasons)?
Ha! The thing is, the highest amount I can sell my diamonds for on Ae0’s is for £2; if I walk over there, with a stack of dia blocks, I’m only gonna sell them at £2 per diamond. If there is no hidden sarcasm, then sure, you should do it. I would not go as low as $2.50, because I am willing to sit on my diamonds a little bit longer and hope to eventually sell them at a higher price, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with someone selling them at a lower price.
———————————
And another important data point for you: KellyYore also thought diamonds were worth $13-15, until one day ArtificialDemon sold him several stacks of blocks and completely drained his balance. Will KellyYore ever be able to sell them back at a higher price? NO, because no one needs that many diamonds, and anyone who can afford them can get a sufficient amount by mining.

Ignorance is Strength.October 11, 2016 at 1:42 pm #41865@Chasedillon123 It was not the intention to sound like I’m going at you. Merely a reaction to how the prices have developed, I see how it could have been misinterpreted tho..
@ae01 Yes, you are right, the ones selling you for 3£ is the ones who are nuts, but aren’t these prices [Buy] prices? i mean, you can go to the island, find the right shop and then buy a diamond for 3£ – THIS is what i do not understand, if you have a median of 9,45£. shouldn’t the lowest price be more close to the median? It’s not a lash against ae0 island, it’s a lash toward the people purposefully driving down the cost of diamonds. I don’t see how you would want to reduce the value THIS much? is there alot of competition on diamonds? I’m just trying to understand how this has happened – if either the competition has been sooooo furiously intense that 4-5 shops have made a discount war, and during a period, have reduce the price slowly for 9 to 8 to 7 to 6 and so on.. Orrrr, if it is purely A single shop owner who thought to himself, if prices are around 9, the if i sell mine at 3, then EVERYONE will buy from me, this is what i mean with my previous post and i for one does not think that is good competition.. it is rather a measure to purposefully drive the market price down. Why do this? it’s a waste of profit for all shop owners really. If the lowest price on the island were, let’s say 7-6 ish, then lowering your price to 5 would be more than enough to win you all the competition, but lowering it to 3 makes you lose potential profit, you lose the 2£ from if you’d have sold it for 5£, which would still be the cheapest.I’m not trying to be smart and I don’t know how things have developed, but it sure seems like someone thought to themselves that if winning all the competition means lowering prices to almost nothing, then that’s what we will do. I can see this on several of the items listed in here..
Diamonds have moved from ca. 15-20£ value to only 9£ in average and lowest being 3£. I think that smells a lot like someone who wants to destroy the value of the diamond, but that’s just me..
I also get what you say that diamonds are no longer as useful now that mending has been introduced, but a drop from 15 to 3 is aloot and that has little to do with mending, because people still lose gear and so they will still need to make more. also, not all diamond sets have mending – a lot, yes, but i also know a lot of people who doesn’t have access to high end mending sets.
And yes, you are right. The metals will never become as rare as they have been, unless there is suddenly a shortage, which is highly unlikely will ever happen. I am btw glad to see god set prices are overall higher than they’ve been before, so thats a nice direction we can see in the economy and actually, I think this idea of listing items is a great thing. Easy for everyone to see where to get the best deals, if they can find the shop they are located in.
So in conclusion, I do think the prices of diamond seem very low compared to other materials, which might be due to price wars idk.. but if it really is just one person who drives down prices for quick returns, then i can say nothing other than I think its a waste of profit, you might make more sales, but your value is less, so you make less money.
I’ll surely use this as base for when I do my own prices ?Founder of Port Hope
October 11, 2016 at 5:45 pm #41870The thing is, I’m opening my shop, and I’m going to offload diamonds starting at £2.50. I have no doubt the 3 stacks I’ll sell will be gone instantly. The same will be the case for anyone else selling at such a low price, and before you know it, those owners can’t keep up with demand, and the price goes back to normal.
One thing this doesn’t show is how much of each item is being sold (because there is now way to know). I’d hedge my bets that the guy selling at £3 has a few stacks, and little more, whereas those selling at the median rate of £9.45 and above probably have many more diamonds for sale.
The situation could be one diamond for sale at £3, and 64 for sale at £10, but all we see is that some diamonds sell for £3, and some for £1; in essence, only half the picture.
