the way nether portals work is the coordinates for a nether portal are 4 times larger in the over world than the nether. The world border for the nether and over world are the same which means you are going through a nether portal on the outside of the world border in the overworld that was accidentally created by another player or you created it yourself. If you created the portal yourself destroy it and make it again in a different location. If the portal you are going through was not made by you use /home to get out of the nether. If you are trying to make a nether highway good luck. I haven’t seen a single nether highway on this server. Sorry for such the long explanation. It was difficult to understand what nether portal glitch you were referring to

Actually the world/nether conversion is 1:8 . If you walk 1 block in the nether it will be 8 blocks in the world. Hence travelling through the nether can be 8 times faster. I use my nether ‘highway’ every day due to not having enough /sethomes.

@elguapohector what you do, is build a nether portal in your world first to travel to the nether (if there is already a nether portal in the nether within a 128 block radius you will come out there – that is probably what happens to you, except that portal is out of the world borders). anyways you will write down your coords of the world x:y . Then divide them by 8 and build a portal in the nether at that spot x/8 : y/8 . That will link your world & nether portals together.
You can do the same at your other location.

After that you claim the region between the two nether portals and make it siege proof -> you got a nether highway.
