We have a lot of players with Automated Farms, with lots and lots of redstone, when you have 50+ players online and multiples of people are all using their automated redstone farms with clocks etc it can take a toll on server performance. I have had my eye on this plugin for years and years, I have never go around to testing it out until now. This isn’t a well known plugin at all, its called PandaWire and its made by md_5 the guy that makes Spigot the main server software we use to run PirateCraft.
This is an alternative redstone algorithm, the only way to explain how the current redstone works and how this plugin changes redstone you will have to watch the video linked below.
- This alternative redstone algorithm is suppose to keep the same functionality as vanilla, but vastly improve performance for medium+ sized servers.
- It should keep your machines working the same, but the only way to find out is to run this trial of it live.
- I want feedback if this does break major mechanics for redstone, I am no redstone genius, Im calling out to the redstone geniuses I know we have a lot of you here!
June 21, 2017 at 2:02 pm #51508I found something that seems broken:
Bridges and portcullises (especially gates made out of stacked bridges) won’t be powered anymore by running Redstone along the power block.
You now have to run it into the block to work.
I also tried it at /warp bridges where you can see that the gates made out of bridges won’t work.
In my base, it was quite simple to fix all the broken ones with repeaters or extra dust.

Ah dammit, this is a massive shame. Can you give an example of how you have to do it now? Like a visual representation. Will it really restrict how they are used now?
June 21, 2017 at 10:04 pm #51549It’s actually more like a bugfix as it forces you to power bridges and gates similar to how you have to power a door, lamp or piston in vanilla.
Just add another layer and make sure that the Redstone signal runs only into the block below either by ending it there or with a repeater.
I don’t think that it affects the way they are used as it only takes a few seconds to change it. I’ve built several different bridge gates and portcullis in my base and it took me 10 minutes to go through all of them and fix the ones that were broken (approximately 10 of 15).
I made some screenshots of how it used to work and how to fix it:
Hope it helps you to understand what changed and how to fix it.
edit:
got another pic that may explain it a bit clearer:
June 29, 2017 at 1:53 pm #51766No issues with any of my machines all good.

Thanks man, always appreciate feedback!
July 5, 2017 at 7:54 pm #51943I’ve got an issue with my brewing station. The brewing stand won’t fill: just one bottle gets in it, instead of three. The others stay in the hopper.
I did a little bit of research and I came across a bug that perfectly corresponds with the problem that I’m having. The bug itself was fixed in Minecraft 17w16b. Could it be that this is still present? Crazymoney also has this problem.

It happened to me aswell, before the redstone algorythm update my brewer used to work but now it’s broken ;-;

July 6, 2017 at 11:52 am #51951I have gone through at least 4 monster brewer designs since 1.11 because of the brewstand bug. Then the weird one bottle thing started after that haha. I figured out it had to due with the timing and locking and unlocking the hopper feeding the stand. After dozens of redstone experiments on my test world and many hours of videos i found one that had a separate timer for the bottle release that worked from a fella named RabidSmore.
I made a few upgrades to the delivery, storage, and bottle filling station to make it nicer to look at and easier to use.
July 14, 2017 at 10:09 pm #52088I have (a somewhat stupidly made) item elevator, with hoppers running up in a pole, I have repeaters running into the pole every other block, and sometimes the power will spread only down, or maybe it will spread up 2 blocks instead of 1, and it seems to change every now and then, because I need to readjust the redstone placement every time I log… 🙁
But on the bright side, redstone is definitely less laggy!
