Quick one for anyone trying to connect this morning, I accidentally set the white list to on last night before bed in the main configs, so when it restarted it booted with the white-list on (Derp) was fixed pretty quickly.
Last night I changed some core files to hopefully allow 4x the amount of network compression for client<->server communication. What this means is all the data, say it being chunk data, or player movement data etc, should be compressed to small file sizes between you and the server. Anyone with a decent internet connection won’t notice any difference at all, those with shoddy internet connections or across seas/further away from the server physically may seen an increase in a few things, Logging in, Warping, teleporting to other players etc may seem a bit faster.
It maybe a placebo, but for me it seems much faster logging in and warping/teleporting and I do have a shoddy connect and am quite a bit away from the server location.
Please do tell me if it has made a difference in speed, because if it hasn’t Ill change it back as it uses a bit more CPU power.
May 22, 2017 at 7:10 am #50141Hey Gods,
It’s been quite difficult for macro26 and I to log onto the server after this update (we’re on the same internet). Chunks barely load and the chat doesn’t move where typically we’ve had great connection. I can join other 1.11 servers with no issues and I don’t think anything is out of the ordinary with our connection. If there’s a fix we would really appreciate it 😀

Can you do a trace-route please, its nothing more than compression. its always been enabled, I just increased it.
Are you using the default client or something else?

Whats your render distance set at? Can you try dropping it if you have it set really high? I recently changed that too. You on discord or TS? be much easier to figure out as I can do changes on the test server to figure it out, I dont think its compression.
May 22, 2017 at 7:56 pm #50178I have ts, I set it at 16 but dont usually change it
May 22, 2017 at 9:36 pm #50189hello gods, i have recently been having the same problem loading in, i normally load in at about 3 seconds, but recently its been upwards of one to two minutes. once i eventually connect, i also have to wait about 20 seconds for me able to see the server chat. i can send messages (i use livemap to see them) but it takes a while for me to see them in game.
(edit) it also takes me about 2 minutes to fully load in when i warp to cove or tp to other players, where it would take me seconds before this new change. people were in ts with me yesterday and knew i had these problems.
to be sure it wasnt my end, i did a quick comparsion with 3 other servers, and i join them as easily as i have before.

May 22, 2017 at 10:12 pm #50198hi im hurricane_joshua i cant even join the server. is there anyway to help me get on. Also it saying 1766ms with one bar and we have very good internet.
May 23, 2017 at 5:09 am #50211Was just able to join the server with little to no issues. My ping is higher than usual so there’s minor lag but it’s certainly playable again. It’s also late at night at the moment so only like 4 people are on if that has anything to do with it.

We tested changing compression back to what it was last night and even downgrading bungee, nether of these are the cause.
Can you please run an MTR to the server and send me the report please http://winmtr.net/how-to/ you’ll have to use winmtr on windows or if you are using unix/osx then please follow the other steps to install. https://www.linode.com/docs/networking/diagnostics/diagnosing-network-issues-with-mtr
Please do an MTR to the mc.piratemc.com and to the direct IP: 198.100.146.34
I will also need to run an MTR to your IP’s to see if its Server>Client. So please do PM me your IP’s too.
Edit: Even im seeing 100% packet loss on 3 hops INSIDE their network, which makes me think it is a dodgy switch/router inside the datacenter. PLEASE do get this data back to me, The quicker I get it, the faster I can send it off.
