I have 3 questions
1. AFK fish farms, you said above (a long time ago) that you didn’t see a problem with them but the rules say they are banned. I understand how overpowered it is to AFK fish for three days and sell all the books ect… I’m glad that’s banned, but I feel like that has more to do with the “NO AFK” rule than it does with the fish farms.
Can I make one and use it while I’m logged in and at my computer?
I just started, so I have lots of waiting around watching wheat and cows grow to do. It’s really not fun.
I figured I would pass the time fishing, no way, i can’t stand fishing. So I wore out a diamond pick on my island.
I’m mostly a Redstoner, my plan is mostly to make automatic farms, which you all are cool enough to allow.
Obviously, I’m allowed to stand still in my base and wait, or fish in one spot while my crops grow.
Obviously im NOT allowed to set my guy up to fish while I’m asleep.
But, say I knew I was gonna be standing around waiting for 20 min for crops or something. Cant leave my base, and don’t really have a job to do. Someone who enjoys fishing could fish for 20 minutes all on their own. I can’t stand it.
Could I make an “afk” fish farm and sit here texting someone for 20 minutes while my guy fishes? or is that across the line? I understand the need to prevent people from abusing those farms, but I think it would be pretty easy to tell which was which. You could potentially have the server kick anyone who stands in one place for X minutes without moving, or (maybe) find a way to make fishing not unflag you as afk (ie, its the same as not moving at all)
Or, of course, if there is any question that someone is actually afk, you could always tp them to jail and see how long before they say “Hey, I was fishing, why am I in jail now”
That way, I could do redstone instead of fishing, but nobody could stack books all night long. Maybe that would be really hard to police though, and get abused. Maybe that is already allowed. I understand either way, so that’s why I asked. I was gonna build one and just reply right away if anyone asked about it but… some of them mods dont really listen… (that’s #3)
2. TNT Duping. My understanding is that TNT ‘ENTITY’ dupers are allowed here. (dropping multiple primed TNT entities from a single TNT block.) Under the condition that its being used by a player who is logged in, and not used to grief someone else.
I want to make a perimeter for a mob farm, a slime farm, and other Redstone builds. my plan is to make it underwater with a glass roof. The roof slightly lowers my rates, but 300×300 perimeters are ugly and take up a lot of space on a relatively small server. I figure I could probably find a big enough chunk of empty ocean, build under it, and not really take up any space at all.
I also want to build tunnels, both in the nether and underground. For travel, and more importantly for the huge underground dwarf base that I want to build.
Neither of these would be remotely feasible to dig by hand. That’s why I can’t play on any other server….
Anarchy servers allow the diggers, but there is no point trying to build elaborate Redstone farms on an anarchy server with a steady 0.1 tps
I even have some ideas for TNT autocannons that could be fit to ships, but I’m not sure that’s possible as you’d need pistons to throw the primed TNT. I’m also not sure if that counts as griefing.
specific questions about TNT Dupers.
A. Can you confirm that its allowed to use redstone TNT (ENTITY) dupers for digging tunnels and caves?
(Obviously, duping tnt blocks and picking them up is totally against the rules. But, its my understanding that the entity dupers/digging contraptions are allowed, so long as they are not used to grief others)
B. Obviously using them to wreck someone’s base is griefing, but would a vanilla tnt cannon on a ship, used against other ships, count as griefing or, is that fair play? (if i could even manage to build one)
C. Perimeters, any concerns there? Obviously, I’d have to find a place to put it, and it would be a huge amount of work, especially to build one in the ocean then cover it back up with glass/water… but ships could still sail right over it. It would suck to do all that work then get in trouble for “that hole is too large” but some people have a problem with it… so I figure its better to ask.
I have no interest in cash or PVP, all i want to do is build redstone farms, piston doors and possibly some cannons for fun. I would use the devices only for good, and be careful not to let them runamuckabout.
3. Who moderates the mods?
I don’t want to go into detail here (really, I don’t want to talk about it at all) but there is a certain mod who seems to have it out for me. I feel I was banned without a valid reason, then permabanned for trying to talk to that mod about it. When I was unbanned, I was still unable to move or chat, and my tiny undeveloped island had been bombed with TNT.
I mentioned in chat (after that was all put behind me) that I got kicked for speed hacks for accidentally standing (falling) in between two pistions (they move me back and forth faster than its possible to move otherwise) That same mod threatened to ban me yet again. I said they were mean, they said they were happy to talk about it in pm’s, then blocked messages from me. I asked In chat how to ignore someone (I just want to play the game, not argue about it) and the same mod told me it was impossible to ignore mods.
Another mod told me, complain to the admins about it.
I don’t actually want to do that. I honestly just want to block that one person and not worry about it.
I honestly do not know what they have against me.
But in earnest, I was banned for like 6 months for asking about the rules in-game, before I’d even built a furnace,
I’m not willing to donate and or buy things on a server that I could be banned from just because someone doesn’t like me.
I’d rather let this particular issue go, put it behind me, and just find some other people to play the game with…
But, is there any assurance that I can’t be banned and cuffed and harassed in global just because one person doesnt like me?
I probably would have paid to rank up by now if not for that one person who doesnt like me and has the ability to kick/harass me without counter.
Again, I’m NOT asking for an escalation of that drama,
I’m just asking, what is the general policy on mod’s using their powers for good?
What can I do if i’m banned again, after I pay to play, even though I haven’t hurt anyone or cheated in any way?
