When I tried it, it happened 100% of the time, and yes my home was in an open space with no blocks this time. I tried to reproduce this bug in singleplayer, but it worked fine, so it must be something to do with players connection or the plugin.

Also, if you want to try and recreate the bug, you need to travel a few hundred blocks in a boat, not a couple blocks.
