NAP (Non-Aggression Pact) < ODP (Optional Defence Pact) < MDP (Mutual Defence Pact)

The three pacts can be viewed as upgrades of each other. Signing one would suffice. I’d suggest the NAP. An MDP FORCES the participants to defend each other in times of need, which is why it should only be signed between the closest of friends!! 😛
