Recently I've been using signs ([Buy]/[Sell]/[Donate]) to move items within my base. This has proven to be a fairly effective means of transporting/accessing items.
It occurs to me that I have hundreds of hoppers and several dropper/item elevators that could be completely removed if the SignShop limits were increased. Currently I run items along hopper lines 90+ blocks across and another 20 blocks up in an elevator. These items are then stored into chests near my villagers so I can trade with them. If I could leave/store the items closer to their origination point much of this can be removed, but I need the signs to reach at least 130 or so blocks.
Currently the SignShop signs must be within 25 blocks of the chests, increasing this limit to 150 would allow me and others to use this method without hoppers and redstone elevators. I think this change could have a positive impact in the performance of the server while still restricting movement of items to be within a reasonable distance.
The reason I chose 150 blocks is this happens to be within the 160 block visible range of chunks already loaded, and should not add undue overhead.
