So, I’ve always found the wiki to be very interesting to read but I’ve also wanted to improve it quite a bit. I had a few ideas in mind to improve it and I was wondering if it’d be allowed as well as wondering about opinions. I’ll start off with my first idea to improve the “Groups” page…
Groups – I was thinking that there could be two different categories of crews. The first would be “Friendly Civilizations” and crews such as the British Empire would fit into this one. The second would be “Hostile Civilizations”, and crews such as “Delta” or “CoV” would fit into this category. I think people reading the wiki should get a better idea of what crews could fit with their own ideals rather then just having to talk to people about the different groups in public chat. This would narrow down their list of possible crews.

February 18, 2016 at 9:25 am #29727You can if you like, lol. It might be difficult to define some crews as simple “peaceful” or “hostile”, but it would be good if every crew were to actually make a fully written wiki page. That’s what I’d go looking for if I wanted to find out more about a specific crew!
A big shout out to the Verussians by the way – you updated your wiki page a few days ago and boy, it’s turned out really decent! 🙂

Ironic
February 20, 2016 at 4:08 pm #29790Right, I’ve come up with something cool: Every crew can use this basic infobox to present their basic details in an orderly fashion!
To get the code for this box, go here:
http://wiki.piratemc.com/Template:Crew_Info
Paste the code at the top of a page and the box will magically appear on the right when the changes are saved. Here’s some info on how to tailor that code to your crew’s specifications:
Et voilà! Now you can display your crew for the world to see! With a bit of fiddling around you can alter the infobox to your heart’s content. 🙂
February 21, 2016 at 5:29 pm #29805@PaulOnFire This is awesome, exactly why we have a wiki! Making a template page is a great idea! Thanks for the tutorial, maybe we need this tutorial as a page on the Wiki so it dousnt get lost as a forum reply to a thread!

That’s a good idea, no doubt this will get lost in a matter of days!
The help page should also feature this link: https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Help:Wiki_University_Wikitext–Tutorial
I wouldn’t have been able to do any formatting at all without looking up how, lol! It’s a fairly easy tutorial I’d recommend anyone to read through. 🙂
February 22, 2016 at 10:18 am #29827@elexandre1994 For your group changes, please read http://wiki.piratemc.com/Talk:Groups
@PaulOnFire The MediaWiki software we use is extremely powerful, Im yet to even scratch the surface with it, im brand new to Wikis, What better way than to host your own!It turns out there is an actual template system built into mediawiki itself.
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Templates
Or there is a “pre-loaded text” feature:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Creating_pages_with_preloaded_text
February 22, 2016 at 7:22 pm #29834Well, that sure was an enlightening read! I’ve now moved the information to a new page called http://wiki.piratemc.com/Crew_Infobox. The old page is now a proper template. Simply use the following code to make an infobox on your page:
Then put in the information you wish to display after the equal sign. The information after |flag MUST be a PC wiki image link.
Example: |crew=Testcrew will display “Testcrew” in the title.
December 18, 2016 at 7:15 pm #44921The wiki has been relatively quiet for some weeks now. I have been working on the timeline and trawling through some ancient forum pages to get more information.
There is so much vital information still missing from the wiki! I’m talking about really, really important pages with little to no information such as:
-o- CoV
-o- TAS
-o- 0utlaws
-o- TMPLR
-o- Literally dozens of other notable crews who have been around for a long time
-o- Wars! The only pages with any detail are the Verussian war pages.
-o- Almost every settlement in existence
-o- Various Xmas and Halloween events
-o- BOTM entries and winners
-o- Hundreds of pirates
-o- “ancient history” from before 2014My own knowledge is extremely detailed but severely limited to post 2014 BE/LoN politics. It would be of incredible value to the community for everyone to at least write a couple of sentences and add an infobox describing their crew. You know your own crew best. No one else can do your wiki page justice!
That’s why I’d like to ask anyone who reads this to unleash their creativity and create some new pages they have knowledge on. Or simply add some more detail to the timeline. 🙂
December 18, 2016 at 9:31 pm #44926@paulonfire I know history beginning 5 days after V2 opened and between markus and myself we could probably do it all From the first real threat WantedRhinoHD, to me killing him, then Teaming up with him to create Pirates of Rogues Cove. BUT i am to lazy to write it all ;-;
Lucky you will be missed 🙁
December 19, 2016 at 10:09 am #44941That sounds like an amazing story @unic0rnjunk101! Tell you what, write a really crap version on the wiki if you have some time (in note form if need be). Then someone can come and clear it up. 🙂
December 19, 2016 at 11:40 am #44942I have some stories from V1 days, so does Jon, been meaning to upload that world forever and get the stories written, V1 was absolutely brutal without the claims.
If you ever need any stats for anything, or pulling who was in what crew at any point in time, I keep a backup of our database from every single day for the last few years, so I can go back in time and look at these, sadly not the world files as there too large, but stats & crew information I can.
Edit: Added 2012 start, Ill have a think about some events that happened around that time.
