Hello everyone,

The Freeport (the current location) has always been a ‘temporary’ location for the battles – I chose it purely because I hosted a battle there ages ago. That’s pretty much the only reason. We’ve seen a huge influx of people in the last battle, and I feel the current location is not quite up to the ‘standards’.

However!

Times change, and I’m thinking of moving the ship battle arena to a new location closer to the center of the map where the majority of ships are (rather than in the outskirts). As well as building a new ship battle arena dedicated to these battles!

 

The New Arena:

Features:

• Walls – nothing horrible, I’ll do my best to make it look good
• Gates to enter/exit arena with ships
• Designated ship building areas
• Maybe some custom terrain to spice things up?
• Fully admin claimed (hopefully)

The size of this arena will under 400×400 blocks (same as old area). I’m not going to add a spectator area as that’s hard to do with a battle that’s constantly moving around. All existing ships at the Freeport can either be moved free-of-charge to the new location, or kept there, depending on the owner’s choice.

 

The Locations:

I’ve picked out 3 new locations for this arena, the place to vote will be at the bottom of the post. I’ve tried to pick locations that are not too close to existing player’s bases – if your base is next to one and you don’t want it there feel free to send me a message about it :)).

Location A:

• Benefits:
  • Closest to spawn
  • Reasonably ‘open waters’ (easy to move ships to the arena)
  • Close to Aeos Island, close to London , and close to my port – all three full of ships
  • Not within any crew territory (that I know of)
• Downsides:
  • Furthest away from /warp ships and ships2
  • Lots of deckhand claims nearby because its close to spawn

 

Location B:

• Benefits:
  • Nice and empty waters – very few claims and easy to move ships down there
  • Potential to make the arena bigger (because its so empty)
  • Not near any player’s claims
  • Quiet area
• Downsides:
  • Not many, still gonna be a 30 minute sail from cove or 45 minute sail from London

 

Location C:

• • UNAVAILABLE AS PER REQUEST OF SEVERAL PLAYERS AND BECAUSE ITS TERRIBLE ANYWAY – DON’T VOTE FOR IT PLEASE

 

Freeport (existing location:)

• Benefits:
  • No need to build a new arena
  • Empty waters
  • Quiet area
• Downsides:
  • Owned by BE: not a neutral port technically
  • Far away from a lot of stuff – takes forever to sail there
  • Won’t be able to have new arena there due to lots of nearby claims

Location A sounds great plus i could get my ship there faster!

I’d like to see “B”, for it has few claims (Less trouble), and it’s very centered, and it’s almost metaphorical to think that ship battles are the center of PirateCraft (which I believe 😀 ), and judging by what I see on the map, there look to be some obstacles already such as islands, and I think that’ll make the ship battle experience even better 😀

I don’t mind either.

I think Astrobolt doesn’t want it at C though due to the clear fact that it will be near his vault, it would also be near me, which I would be slightly hesitant also, due to the fact I don’t want a ton of new building port/areas nearby me as such but hopefully Maximus can police it and set up small ports for people away from our territories, probably the same goes for @AppleJK ,though it’d mean their crew can get to the area easier to take part- BUT https://piratemc.com/topic/gordys-gate-iborian-canal-proposals/

B is again open ocean, I think that’s got alright access, just have to open up the Southern reaches of the Iborian Sea a bit to allow ships to take that short cut, apart from that I don’t think it infringes any claims or causes any problems.

yeah it’s kinda right next to dagersh’s bone lounge and dag’s base and it’s still too close to my base

Due to popular vote, the ship battle’s new location will be at area A (near spawn).

Its likely that next month’s battle will still be at the Freeport, as it will take time to build the new arena, but I’m hoping to have it done by April the latest.

Thanks for taking part, it really helps with decision making.

If due to any complications area A becomes unavailable, area B will be chosen. Ta
